Question about booking/banking...

So, if I've put down my initial desposit for SSR points with August UY, the word is I can book by the next day if I need to. Sounds good.

Now, I'd want to bank those 2005 points, but I understand no banking is allowed until closing (and they are granting an extension to do that.)

Problem is if I reserve for, say, November 2006, I would want to use my banked 2005 points, not the 2006 points. But I can't bank yet.

How does this get resolved? Book right away with 2006 points and then when 2005 points are banked switch to those points? Or does the system know to use the points that are expiring sooner?

Hope this makes sense. I guess I could call MS but you kind folks are so clever.

FWIW, I don't think you will have a problem getting SSR if you wait to book until after you close. You will be closing before the 7 month window opens. Keep in mind the SSR is the largest of the resorts and therefore the easiest to book.

Assuming you want to "nail" down the reservation now anyway, my advice is to go ahead and book. After you close and bank the points, call MS and ask to have the reservation switched over to use up the banked points first. Otheres have reported that they have done this, so I do not expect you will have a problem.

We just joined and have not closed yet. I called member services yesterday and banked our 2005 points(August use year)

I just finished my paperwork today and Fed Ex grabbed them. But I was told three different stories.
1. You can't bank or transfer until they have the paper work on file,
2. That you can bank the points.
3. That you can't but since we are so far into the UY they would give us an extension beyond the January 31st deadline.
I booked BWV for March - only 2 days on the wait list for a 2 bedroom for the week...it came through.
Now I'm not sure I can make it down becuase of business commitments.

They had said an extension would be in place for us as well but I wanted to get it done since we will not be traveling until next winter. I am positive our paperwork is not on file yet because I fedexed it Wednesday but our points got banked and I even viewed that it happened online later.

Interesting... I might call next week and see if I can bank. Can't hurt.

Sounds like a lot of paperwork is flying back and forth this month! We're keeping FedEx busy!

My brother was also able to bank his 05 points before closing. I asked him are you sure? and he said yes - I have a confirmation number. Call your guide next week.

I too was able to bank my points before closing. But we were already approved for financing and they had all my information on file as well.

Thanks... I'm so superstitious though... I'm waiting until paperwork is in and everything is free and clear, then I will come here and shamelessly beg for Welcome Homes. Put in the call yesterday though, now I'm waiting for the big box!!

The resort litho's are neat and I have mine framed in my home office.
Can't beleive none are being made anymore...SSR isn't sold out then there are those who add on should get one too....must be a "wait list" somewhere??

Think I would be absolutely calling my guide to get me on a list for the back ordered litho when more come out!!
