We are in ROFR at BCV, and the contract includes some banked points that will expire on 3/31/12. Since we won't get the points in our account until some point in April, we will be at or near the 11 month mark for their expiration. I know BCV is very hard in the fall, and we are hoping we get really lucky and can find something in Oct/Nov/Dec, but realistically I am guess that's not going to happen. We could stay somewhere else, I'm sure we'd find something if we're flexible, but here is my question:
We don't want to lose the banked points. So, the moment I get them, can I book something at BCV 11 months out (presumably) next March and then waitlist for other weeks in the fall? Can you waitlist for dates before an existing reservation? Is there any downside to doing it this way, i.e. can you lose points by canceling?
I just want to book something that is available, since I don't want to lose the points, but don't want to shut out the option of a fall trip if we can find availability..
I hope this question makes sense....?!
