We have booked a BLT two bedroom villa for next year through David's. I am wondering if there is any way to know if we will be assigned a two bedroom, or a one bedroom with a studio. Anyone have any experience with this? I would also like to know if the balcony doors have locks at the top to keep the little ones in. I know they have them at the Poly where we usually stay, but I have never heard them mentioned for BLT. It's our first stay here and we are so excited! Any advice appreciated!

The one bed plus studio is called a lockoff. The other type of two bedroom is called dedicated. These are booking categories. Does David's system have those on their booking pages? If you have something reserved, the owner would have chosen one of those at the time of booking so you should be able to easily find out by asking or looking at what they might have sent you.

If your confirmation says 2 bedroom villa, then it's probably a dedicated. If it says 2 bedroom lockoff, it's a 1 bedroom + studio.

Most of the balcony doors have a lock that slides down and turns, about half way up.

Is this true for any confirmation?....two bedroom will always mean two bedroom and two bedroom lock off will always be a bedroom/studio?

If lock-off, online system and confirmation say it is a lock-off. if dedicated it just says two bedroom.

As to the balcony doors at BLT, they are almost too hard for an adult to open them much less a child. While lifting the handle that opens the door you have to also be turning a lock that keeps it closed and if you don't do both precisely together, it won't open.

This is what I was going to say as well about the doors! They are SOOO heavy! I believe they do have a lock or bar or something but I assure you that they are hard for me to open and my 4 year old wouldn't have a chance EVER of doing it...

The balcony doors do have a double locking system, which confuses me to no end! The upper lock isn't as high as I would like it but I have witnessed that it works like a charm even with kids that can get anything open.

However I would double check the doors to make sure both locks work. Because the doors are so heavy the alignment gets out of whack. I have had to call maintence more than once to fix them. When a child was in the room they came very quickly.
