Question about blankets on beds

Ok, I have heard that Disney doesn't change the blankets between guests at the resorts. Is this true?? I know Great wolf lodge does not change them. It really gives me the heebee geebies. Its just gross. Is there anyway to make sure you are getting a clean set of blankets when you arrive??

I read on here that they do not change sheets or blankets during your stay (unless requested), but always between guests - but now that I think about it maybe they just meant the sheets. Ewwww.....Anyone know where to get 3 oz. aerosol canisters of Lysol???

I am totally dead serious. When we were in Great Wolf Lodge in July I watched a maid strip a bed, she pulled the blankets down on the ground, changed the sheets and pulled the blankets back on. I know the person had checked out, cause we were talking with them as they were hauling all the stuff out of their room. I just don't know if Disney doesn't change them or not. My mom was a maid at Red Roof Inn years ago, and she said the same thing, they only changed the blankets every so often. YUCK!!!

Meijers has them,and they are only 1 oz cans, but if you are flying, they can't go on the plane. I'm sending mine down in a padded envelope ahead of me

If you think the blankets are bad, ever thought of the bed spreads. The FIRST thing I do on going into a hotel room is removed the bedspreads and set them in a far corner. I ask they not be put on the bed for the rest of our stay. Bed spreads are just gross! Never flop down on a hotel bed -- half of humanity has already done the same thing.

Nope, they told me that Lysol in any size is not allowed in carry on or checked baggage. They also told me that Laundry soap, or liquid dish soap isn't allowed in checked baggage too. Go figure on that one

I actually called the TSA after looking at their web site. Go to travelers info. It was www.tsa.gov

Anyhoo, it says you can take liquid soap in your checked luggage, but when I asked about laundry and dish, they said no because its a hazardous chemical. Huh??? Go figure I can see about the Lysol, because it's flammable, but the other 2 soaps?? Its baby laundry soap, I could wash my hair with it if I had to LOL.

3 trips and every trip included laundry powcer(usually cheer) in baggies inside my checked suitcase. i include a lable in case anyone asks about the odd white powder in my luggage. Never had it rejected

Blankets I believe are changed after each guest but not sure.

You can certainly request once you get there they bring you a clean one.

But I always wonder on these threads, why it matters as long as it is not obviously soiled.

The sheets are clean and they are the only part touching you and I don't see any difference in blankets and bedspreads than couches, air plane seats, seats in restaurants etc.

well I would not let him chew on anything that is in the public area, so if he chews on blankets I would pack his own for him.

First of all, let's all get straight which parts of the bed we are talking about. There is a fitted sheet, then a flat sheet, then a blanket and then the comforter or bedspread. Right?

I have always been under the impression that only the sheets are taken off on a regular basis. The blanket and comforter are not taken off after each guest. If you look on a maids cart, you only see sheet sets so that is what has given me this impression.

When we travel by car, I take two sleeping bags (one for each bed)and use them over the sheets for warmth.
I, too, take the blanket and the bedspread off and put them away for the duration. I, too, ask housekeeping not to put them back on.

As for why it is important to me even though we sleep between the sheets? Well, not all stains are visible. GROSS. And do you realize how much dead skin a person sheds in bed? GROSS AGAIN. And what about people coughing and sneezing all over them? YUCK!

But the grossest thing in a hotel room is THE REMOTE CONTROL!! Really. That is the number one germ-fest item in a hotel room. Dirtier than the toilet! Because at least the toilet gets cleaned. So the first thing I do is wipe that sucker down with a disinfectant wipe. Then I strip the beds!!

It is my understanding that they do not change the bedspread OR the blanket between guests.

I just flew to Orlando and back with a little bottle of Tide in the checked luggage. It made it TO Orlando, but now that I think about it, the bag it was packed in is still packed so I don't know if I made it home with the Tide or not! I did see some little packets of powdered Tide at the grocery store the other day with a "NEW" tag on the shelf. I need to look at them when I go back.

I don't let him chew on things, but on something like a bed spread, he could get it into his mouth before I could react. My point is it is disgusting that bed spreads are not being cleaned in between guests. The person could have lice, could be sick with the flu or cold or something. It's just plain gross

I have read several posts where people "spill" (pour) a soda or something on the bed as soon as they check in so the blanket & bedspread will have to be changed.

One time at Pop DH said the blanket smelled funny. They brought us a new one in about 30 minutes when we called to request a fresh one.

Primarily because people are generally fully clothed on couches, air plane seats and the like. Also, people generally don't have sex in restaurant seats, etc.. Next time you cuddle up in bed just imagine that the last place that comforter had been was up some big sweaty guys rear end....YUK!
