Question about banking/borrowing?

We own at AKV. We have an upcoming trip and also scheduled another trip for this summer at the 11-month window after our June Use Year distribution of points for 2009. Obviously, we had to authorize borrowing points for the summer trip.

If the waitlist comes through on our upcoming trip, we will have some additional points that we will end up banking to next year. My question is, when I bank those points, will the vacation we already booked at the 11-month window use those newly banked points first (since they would have to be used in the 2009 window) before deducting the "borrowed" points that we had to authorize in order to make the reservation for this summer? Or will we have to plan another trip before May 2010 and use those banked points since we already booked the other vacation with borrowed points?

I'm confused on which use year points you are using for each reservation. All points use is based on date of stay, not when you make the reservation. If you booked a stay for 6/1/09 or after at the 11 month mark, you would not have needed to borrow 2009 points for that stay unless your 2009 were all gone. In which case you would have had to borrow 2010. What are your summer dates?

June 08 points: good for any trip 6/1/08 tp 5/31/09 or can be banked into June 09 year by 1/31/09 and used for a trip that occurs 6/1/09 to 5/31/10. Once banked those points must be used in the 09 to 10 use year.

June 09 points: good for any trip 6/1/09 to 5/31/10. If reservation made today for trip that will occur after 6/1/09 then there is no borrowing of those points as those are "current" use year points for that trip. The only way you would have borrowed points for a summer 2009 trip is that you first used up all the 09 points for the trip and had to borrow points coming in June 2010.

If you end up banking any 08 points into June 09 year, they will not automatically be applied to (nor other points removed from) your already reserved summer 09 trip. However, you can request MS to take those banked points and put them into the summer 09 trip and remove equal number of June 09 points from that trip so that you use up those banked points.

It sounds to me like you used banked points plus regular '09 points, not borrowed points. Could you clarify that? Did you use banked '08 points plus all '09 points and borrowed '10 points? It sounds to me like you only used the banked '08 points plus the '09 points which would be current for that reservation.

Technically, you guys are all right. I didn't really "borrow" points but am using points that come available on 6/1/09 plus points I had previously banked from '08 to make the ressie at the end of June 2009 at the 11 month window. However, if you make this request online via the form on the DVC website instead of calling MS and don't authorize them to borrow points, they won't make the reservation (or at least they have kicked them back on me before) so that is why I told it that way.

It sounds like per drusba that what I want to occur doesn't happen automatically, but once I have finalized banking of any extra points should my waitlist come through, then I just need to call MS and request that they use banked '08 points instead of '09 points where they can for the June '09 ressie.

We are still reaping the rewards of banking points we first received because we were using developer points to book our trips. This will hopefully allow us to bank a few extra '09 points later on so we get one more trip in '10 that is a little longer before we are finally down to just our 200 points we purchased.
