I plan to have my family go back to our hotel ( ASMo) for naps but I'm wondering whats the fastest time and way to get back to the hotel from the magic kingdom? When's the best time to have lunch?

Another question is if I were staying at the Polynesian ,how long would it take us to get there from the magic kingdom for a nap?

I'm wondering if I'm making a good decision by staying at a value resort only for the price.

Once you get on the bus, it is a 15-17 minute ride. You could wait for a bus 20 minutes.

For the Poly, once you get on the resort monorail, it is a 10-12 minute trip. You could wait up to 8 minutes for a monorail. Tip, if your longhouse is at the end of the Poly property close to TTC, get off at TTC, it would be a shorter walk.

I think the most accurate answer is 'it really depends.' Busses are supposed to run every 15 minutes, but I've waited as long as 30 minutes at ASMo for a bus. Also ASMo is the last one in the line of AS hotels. During the middle of the day there will likely be only one bus running from the park serving all 3 hotels so if it get full with ASMu and AS Sp people, you out of luck till the next bus comes by. This is all worst case though. It could be that you would hit everything perfect and never have to wait at all. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The ride from MK to ASMo is a good 15 minutes or so depending on how lucky the driver is with the stop lights.

As far as getting from MK to the Poly goes, the Poly is a monorail resort so you could take the resort monorail from MK and be there in no time. Or you could take a bus. You're still going to have to wait (more than likely) for either of the options though. It seems to me that you'd be more likely to save time by staying at the Poly, but only 10-15 minutes tops on a normal day. Is $100+/night worth 15 minutes?

I certainly don't mean to question the nap habits of your family, but how do you know they'll be ready for a nap in the middle of the day? Its so exciting in the Parks that you may be surprised at the energy level.
I'd suggest postponing the nap time til later in the afternoon, heading back to the ASMo (our family's favorite by the way) and catching some ZZZs and pool time, then heading back to the park for the evening's festivities.
You don't mention what time of year you are going to WDW, but when the Parks close early, you may be giving away time in the Parks by leaving right at mid day.
When our kids were small, we had a PS around noon in a nice restaurant and they got some energy going for the next few hours.
