Question about AP rates

I have been out of the loop for about 6 months and I found myself needing a break from work so I came back. My question is about the new AP rate program. Are people getting rates similar to what disney offered in the past? For example $124 WL; $134 AKL... etc? If not I am wondering if I should even keep my AP.

From Mousesavers:
http://www.mousesavers.com/newapdiscounts.html

The "Passholder Best Rate Program" is now the only way to get an Annual Passholder discount. Currently there are discounts for some dates and some hotels, for check-ins starting 60 days from now through April 13, 2006 (except December 26-January 1).
For 1/2/06-2/15/06 (Value Season), the per-night discounts are $20 off Value resorts, $40 off Moderate resorts and $70 off Deluxe resorts. (See below for newly announced, deeper discounts 1/16/06 through 2/4/06.)

For 2/16/06-4/13/06 (Peak Season), the per-night discounts are $35 off Value resorts, $66 off Moderate resorts and $133 off Deluxe resorts.

We are going during peak season and have 2 rooms at ASMo for 6 nights, then 1 room at POR for 4 nights.

POR rate w/tax - Rack:195, AAA:166, BRP:122
ASMo rate w/tax - Rack:130, AAA:110, BRP:90

So we saved $416 off the room cost by using BRP instead of AAA discount.
Plus, I figure we'll save at least $200 with the DDE membership.

My experience with the AP BRP is that the rates are running about 25-28% higher then under the old AP rate program. That's quite a boost from previous years. However, they also seem to be offering some "specials," lower rates over certain periods (the latest was for arrivals 1/16-2/4) that are comparable to the rates AP holders have seen in the past.

Overall, though, BRP rates seem to be the best available. They're just not the bargain AP holders are used to seeing. (IMHO) :earsboy:

There were deeper discounts 1/16/06 through 2/4/06 which is a value season. I believe it was $40 value, $60 moderate, $96 deluxe. I thought those were pretty good discounts for the Value season. We're going during this time and staying at POR for $79/night.

Are you able to book packages with these rates like Disney dining? When do they anticipate them to be released for June? What is the rate of an annual pass for an adult vs. like an 8 day hopper??

Actually, the peak season discounts are bigger.
$35 off Value resorts, $66 off Moderate resorts and $133 off Deluxe resorts.

Seems like a good deal to me, but I'm a brand new AP holder, so I'm not really familiar with how good the past years discounts were.

No you can't book a package with an AP rate. It is a room only rate and then it is extra to buy your tickets and your meals.

I know, but the post I was quoted was indicating smaller discounts for this time period, I think it was $20 value, $40 mod, $? deluxe. So, for these few weeks there was an even deeper discount. It is pretty good too because Value season rack rates start out lower so the final rate is lower than the peak season rate with bigger $ discounts. Clear as mud?
