I know that the best time to do the Safari is in the morning. Do we basically need to arrive right at 9, to be able to do a morning safari, or would 10 or 11 be too late?

What are our chances of being able to book FP+ for a morning safari by 10 or 11, if we can only book 30 days out?

I am leaving Sunday and I could book a FP for the safari for just about any morning next week...it's not a hard one to book.

I would beg to differ that the morning is not necessarily the best time to ride. We were there last week and we went at about 2 pm. Animals were out all over the place we had to stop a couple times due to animals crossing the path. It was probably the best safari I have been on in terms of animals being out and roaming around.

We're going the last week of June, and had been warned that due to the intense summer heat, that the mornings are best, as in the summer the animals tend to sleep during the afternoon heat.

We've been on the Safari at just about every time of the day and have only been "disappointed" once and that was because of the guide, not the animals. We've seen it in the morning, at high noon, in the rain, in the afternoon and once right before closing (that was probably the best one). We just schedule the FastPass for what works on our time frame because, well, you can't change what an animal does and the animal doesn't really care you want to see them.

only animals we didn't seem to see when it was really hot were the lions one time but I understand the rock formation where they sit is cooled (?).

Another warm day they were laying there as "proud" as could be! :rotfl:

FP+ are usually pretty easy to get for this ride. However I have found that it is not always necessary as my kids love the cue for this ride and watching the TV's about animals along the way.

This was my experience in the beginning of September (was still quite hot and humid). We went in the morning and early afternoon on two separate days, and it was fine. But we went again late afternoon, 2ish, not expecting much, and it was the best. Rhinos right next to the vehicle, giraffes crossing the road. It was pretty great.

Not saying this will always be the case, but you never know, so don't worry if a certain time doesn't fit into your plans. The animals do what they want!
