Question about an airline transportation voucher

Is it only useable by the person who's name it's issued to?

I have an American Airlines voucher, from a flight my son did not take after 9/11.

Is he the only person that can use the voucher?

I will call American, when I have some time to be put on hold for a while, but in the meantime, I thought I'd ask my wise friends here at the DIS!

I used a discount voucher, Bet, given to me from a DIS'er here. It was Midwest Express, but nothing asked when I used it.

Don't know if you've called yet or not, but most are only good for 1 year, and most, though not all, are in fact non-transferable.

I do know that Midwest Express issued some vouchers that are transfersable... they are one of the few!

Hi.. after 9/11 we had planned a trip to Austin to see ds.. he was sent overseas so American let us get vouchers for all 4 tickets.

I was able to bring ds home 3 times and send his old gf to see him 1 time with these vouchers.. none of them had their names. It took almost 18 months to use all the voucher value

I was surprized how easy it was to use American Airlines vouchers.
You make your reservation, tell them you have voucher, give them the number.. then you send the voucher to Dallas address.
Tickets are then either sent (if paper) or OK'd for e-tickets. Either way American will send you a letter AND ANOTHER VOUCHER for the Balance if total value of voucher is unused. Pretty decent!
