We are flying AirTran to Punta Cana and I'm confused about the seating. We purchased business class tickets from AirTran, but the first leg of our flight is operated by Southwest so we can not pick our seats. It also says that we don't check in at the 24 hour mark. So how do they decide who is in group A and group B for boarding?

Southwest only has coach so you won't have business class seats on the Southwest operated flights.

I'm pretty sure since you are flying business on Airtran that you will automatically get A boarding on Southwest - you probably should give them a call to verify that though.

Business class and the A list preferred members get the A 1-15 slots. SO no need to worry. :cool1:

Thanks! I wasn't sure how it would work and wanted to make sure my 7 year old wouldn't end up sitting with someone besides one of us.
