Question about ADRs and restaurant hours

Yay, we finally nailed down our vacation plans and our family is on our way to Orlando! This is my first time planning a trip to Disney with a kid, and we want to do a character meal. I am looking at making an ADR for breakfast at Crystal Palace and the only times left on the days we'll be in the MK are 9:30 or 9:50. The website lists breakfast hours as 8:05-10:30. Is Disney firm on getting you out of the restaurant by closing time? Will it be emptier (i.e. maybe more time with the characters) at that time? Would love to hear anyone's experiences with "late" character breakfasts.
