Sorry guys...I'm still fairly new to DVC, but I want to make sure I'm understanding the "add-on" policy. Am I correct on this....I own 150 at VWL and was considering buying an add-on @ BCV for 25pts...however, I read from another post that the points from VWL cannot be combined w/the pts. I potentially buy @ BCV.

If that's the case...it doesn't really pay for a small add-on at another resort that you don't already own a decent number of points? It doesn't make too much sense if I can't combine the points.....right?

You can combine the points to make a reservation, but not until the 7 month window. For example, if you want to make a reservation at VWL and use BCV points, you cannot make a reservation that uses the BCV points until 7 months ahead of your check out date. Likewise, if you wanted to make a reservation at the BCV and use your VWL points, you'd have to wait until the 7 month window opens to reserve any days that use VWL points (even if part of the reservation was made with your BCV points).

Only you can decide if 25 points at BCV is enough for your needs. Keep in mind that you can bank and borrow such that you have 75 points to use (every third year) to make a reservation for BCV at the 11 month window. That's enough to give you up to 5 nights in a studio for all but Premier Season.

HTH.

You can buy 25 points but it must be for cash, you can buy as few as 50 if you finance through DVC. Still, you want enough points to do what you want at the 11 months window after you bank and borrow. If you look at the points charts and 75 pts every 3 years will do it, 25 is the right amount. Some buy at other resorts just to get more points. Others buy to have the home resort priority for alternate resort stays or stays that utilize more than one resort.
