If you buy a 50-150 point addon for BWV, do they come with banked points ever?

Can a first time buyer get on the wait list for BWV as opposed to buying through a resale company?

Just want to know my options if my resale doesn't make it through ROFR.

No. Disney will strip any banked points that they receive in ROFR and offer the contract that way to the member. If you really want a contract with banked points, you'll have to deal with the resale market, which I agree is rather volitile and harsh now.

There have been some reports of it happening, so I'm sure it can. All you can do is call and speak to a guide, they'll tell you for sure.

Good luck!!! We're in the same boat. Waiting on ROFR, we were submitted yesterday!!! Luckily I'm already a DVC member, and am on the list in case this falls through.

When I asked my guide about that (I had seen a few people say they had bought through DVC and had "banked" points), he said, "No."...current year's points, yes....banked points...no. At least, I think that's what he said.

I just saw a post where a new DVC'er bought their initial contract from DVC at BWV...so, yes it is possible. I also think that DVC may be trying to keep more inventory on hand for just that reason...to offer options to new members. SSR is selling faster than they can build it.

Also remember, there is a point at which EVERY resale will become unappealing to DVC...and that point is SURELY less than $89 per point...so, if you see one you like, and you really want it...think about offering a few dollars more than the "going" rate. That is what we did (we offered $72 when $70 was getting through...but, we did not want to mess around)...and we got it.

Good luck on your resale,

If you buy a contract from a resale company, it may have banked points, or no current year point or it could have all the following year points either borrowed or put into the current year. Before you close you get a certified statement stating the status of the points of the contract. Also points may be put into a reserved status and only good under certain conditions. This is all laid out.

If you buy from Disney, you get the current year points, unless you have the option for Magical Beginnings. You do not get banked points from Disney.

Someone recently mentioned that they told their guide that under no condition would they buy SSR but they did want one of the sold out resorts. Eventually they were able to buy a contract from Disney at the sold out resort, so it is possible. If this did happen, you would have to buy 150 points, but if you bought resale, you could buy fewer. If you buy resale, you buy whatever the contract is, the number of points can't be changed.

Yes, but just be aware that you'll be held to the 150 pt minimum. Also you'll pay $89 per point, while resales will always be less.

Even if your first offer doesn't make it though ROFR, you'd be much better off finding another resale and offering a couple dollars more.

Thanks guys, that was quick.

I'm at 73 a point right now, just hoping I don't have to start this process all over again.

This past Janurary, we closed on a BWV re-sale at $72/pt, paying the sellers asking price. In turn, they paid closing costs and all of next years maint. fees for 400pts which had 5 pts left. We passed ROFR very quickly. Times have sure changed!
