Has anyone gone through this process recently? If so, did you receive additional one-time points as has historically been the case or Disney negating (or limiting?) this practice as well? I ask because a family member called to buy 50 more points. The person indicated that there would be no bonus points for such a purchase.

Prior to this, DVC reps have always offered backdated contracts that were the equivalent of 100 or 150 points to sugar up the sale when we've made such calls. I'm curious if others have had the same experience lately.

There is a difference between developer "bonus" points and getting what you paid for based on purchase date and UY.

If you buy direct from Disney, you should get your points from the current use year, and when your new use year date rolls around you get another allotment of points.
Let's say your use year is December. You would get 50 points now and 50 more in December. If your use year was June, you would get 50 now and 50 more on June 1st. If your use year is April, you would get 50 points now, and 50 more in a year on April 1st.

The above are all regular points. Fully bankable. The Disney rep can spin it like you are getting something extra, but you are really getting what you are entitled to in the contract.

One time use points are points you purchase from Disney when you need just a few more points to secure a reservation. I don't think they have given any out recently.

Touche. Clarifying, the guide wasn't offering the latter, stating that he could only do 2016 points for an add-on at this time. Historically, offers have included as many as three years worth of points.

If they were truly "bonus" points in the past they were considered developer points and those were limited time promotions when sales were slow. Not available today especially with small contracts.

Bonus points have neither been frequently nor historically offered. What's the use year your family member purchasing?

They have never offered 3 years worth of points. The standard is they give you the current UY and future UY and allow you to bank up until the last day. In some cases they have offering additional bonus points that generally were restricted. A loaded resale is more points than this. It sounds like you're looking at a UY which is already in 2016 such as Feb through March. In some cases they may sell a contract were the points won't be available such as a new resort. In that case you don't pay dues until the date the resort is available, UY opens or the date you sign, whichever is later.
