Question about add-on / members website

I purchased a small add-on contract.

I was given an additional member number and an additional contract number.

I was also given the password to add this add-on to my online account.

OK.....here comes the problem I am having. Members services CM told me to log on as if I am a new member with no account, but use my existing name and password... then add the new information to the account.
When I do this red print that states "user name taken, choose another" shows up. That was last night.

What is the real way to add this new contract to my account?

I can understand having a separate contract number, but why the new (second) member number?
CM at members service told me this is how it is supposed to be.

This morning members services told me I'd have to create a new login name.

It seems cumbersome and unnecessary to create a new username....and then to log in and out to view my 2 separate resort contracts.

Thanks for any help.

Did you purchase the contract from Disney? Is it the same UY as your original contract? If not, you now have two member numbers.

If you purchased your add-on via resale market it would have to be same Use Year as your first contract and titled EXACTLY same as your first contract in order for it to be noted as an ' add-on ' to your first contract and for it to be under 1 membership number - your first contract would be Master Contract & second contract is add-on to that. Also, it helps to alert DVC that it's add-on prior to sale being finalized.

Not knowing exactly how you purchased or if both have the same Use Year it is hard to say. If you purchased this small add-on directly through Disney and it does not have same UY as your first contract then it would be as pp Inkmahm stated - same UY should have been noted as an add-on under same membership number; but a different UY would result in a new membership number - which means that each contract you own is a separate Master Contract ( one is not an add-on to the other ).

Call MS to speak to a supervisor or administrator regarding what has happened and why.

:)

It is a different use year with a different contract number.

Not purchased through Disney.

What I don't understand is why I need to have a second membership number and a new logon name....... as if I am a different person.

I know and understand it is a different contract - and can understand the new membership number....

Anyhow, I have now created a new user ID for my new contract, with a new membership number.

Thanks so much for the answere.:worship:

I don't know why they are telling you that a separate log-in is required. I purchased a resale with different UY which meant a different membership number to go with that UY, but they were able to link my two memberships together so that I only have one log in to the website and can see both memberships. I actually didn't have to do anything to have this happen - someone or something in the system did it without any contact from me.

Is your new membership titled the same - ie, you didn't not add anyone else to the contract that wasn't on the first? And is all information the same - address, phone number, email etc.? I would double check that and then talk to someone within IT at MS about the log-in.

Ditto. I have 3 add on's with different use years at differnt resorts. Those were bought resale. I also bought 2 add-on's from Disney direct afterwards. All are listed under my original "member name". I did nothing to make that happen.

Thanks I will call them again, and try to get a more knowledgable CM.

I have two different UY's and can log in only under one name. Both contracts are there (and the different member #'s).

I can't see everything on the add on contract without going in to View Contract details, but once I do that, I can see what is going on.

Its a glitch and they are working on it for me, but it doesn't require separate log ins.

The only reason I am not worrying is that I am selling one of the contracts (closing in August after our trip) and when that happens, I will end up with just one member # so I will only have one set of information.

If you log on under your regular member #, it should show up.

Good luck!
