Question About Abbreviations....

Hey guys,

Since I'm a newbie, just earning my ears, I have a question about something I've noticed in practically every thread. What do the abbreviations DB, DS, etc. mean? I know I'll feel stupid after I find out.

My understanding (you would hope I knew 100% since I use them all the time) is that the "D" can stand for "dear, darling, dang, or probably in this case disney, and the the 2nd letter is a family member

DD - daughter
DS - son
DH - husband
DW - wife

and so on..................again, hopefully this is right - I am not too up on the computer lingo - but this is waht I believe to be true!!!

Don't feel like a moron! Whats really sad is when you start using these abbreviations in the rest of your life. I sent an email to a friend the other day and kept referring to my fil. She thought I had a new friend named Phil and didn't know how to spell it. Hey, its my father in law!

You'll also start to abbreviate attractions as well, like POTC (Pirates of the Caribbean), IASW (It's A Small World), BTMRR (Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road), HM (Haunted Mansion), SM (Space Mountain, or Splash Mountain, you may need to type out the whole thing for either one) etc. But, when I first started posting here, I wondered what DD, DS, DH and so on stood for. I picked up on it eventually after reading the posts more carefully and realizing what they meant!

i'm pretty much a newb as well and i can't for the life of me figure out why i didn't know about this place before!

i did the same thing with the abbreviations, but good for you for having the courage to ask! i just sort of nodded along until it dawned on me

I do this to. Whenever I talk about my upcoming trip with my family I start using the abreviations DL, DCA, DTD adn some of the ride ones. My family always looks at me like I have grown a second head or something.
