Question about a trade

If I have a room booked for 9 nights, and decide I'd like to try a different resort for 1/2 of that stay, is it possible to split this up (4 nights and 5 nights) to do a trade for a split stay giving away the 1st 4 nights in someone else's name? And if so, is it simply I book yours and you book mine? And then if there is a small point difference working out the difference in cash?

Or will they make me cancel and rebook it as 2 separate reservations? I'm afraid that outside of the 11 month window it could get screwed up if I have to cancel/rebook.

Has anyone done this before?

Yes you could. For members, they could book 2 different resorts but only book the non home resorts 7 months out. Could you do a private trade and break it up, sure but it's not a reasonable choice for most situations to do so. I've done it by changing a portion over to another member and I've let others use the rest of my time I had, which we did on our list trip in May letting friends take the last 4 nights of the OKW 1 BR when we left. Trying to do this to take advantage of the home resort booking windows is generally not worth it.
