Question about a gifted reservation

A friend of ours who is going the same time decided not to visit the much coveted Le Cellier and gifted us her reservation. The only problem is that her reservation is for 4 people, and we would have 5 people.

Would this cause a problem if we just showed up with an extra person? Should I call Disney Dining, or would they have a problem that we were using someone else's reservation?

I really don't want to lose this reservation. I know this would probably be impossible to get now. Especially since it will be becoming a 2TS resteraunt next year.

Thanks for any help!

It will be a huge issue. LeCellier is very small and doesn't hold many people. It is like 1/2 the size of most restaurants. So they can't accomidate extra people. Sorry, but you have a 99% chance of that person being turned away.
The 4 will be able to eat, but that 5th person will not.

You can make arrangements for someone in your party to eat elsewhere and let only the 4 go and then meet up afterwards. That is an idea, so the ressie doesn't get wasted.

Again, you can try but have a back up plan because the chances of it happening are very slim.

Thanks! The extra person is only a 6 year old, so maybe they will make an exception. :confused3 I guess I could always sit her on my lap ;)

I think the issue has to do with occupancy and fire codes. Hopefully there will be some no shows the night you try to go.

Be prepared that if it is only 2 adults and all children they may turn 1 adult away. Hopefully they will make an exception, but be prepared.

As PP said, they have fire codes to follow, as well as it is so tight in there, adding another chair is pretty close to impossible.
The tables are on top of one another.
When we ate there, the table next to us was so close the I could hear the people chewing. YEP it is that tight in there.

Good luck, but please have a back up plan.

While it was wonderful of your friend to "gift" you this reservation, the fact that you are a party of 5 will be a problem. The 5 means you will need a larger table that seats either 5 or 6. You can't just squeeze more people into the restaurant because the fire and safety codes limit the occupancy.

You might be lucky and be seated, but the restaurant could easily say they can only accommodate 4 and it will be up to you to decide if you or your husband foregoes dinner there...or you can decide to all go elsewhere.

I would definitely keep trying online every day to see if anything for 5 or 6 opens up. With many people booking CP, they will be canceling back-up ressies and some Le Cellier spots will be opening up.

This is not good news :(

I have the same problem only going from 5 to 6. I plan on going to LeCellier as soon as they are open and letting them know what my problem is. Hopefully since it's just as easy to seat 5 as it is 6, they can squeeze us in.

Unfortunately, an ADR for 4 is not the same thing at all as an ADR for 5, as others have stated.

LeCellier is the least likely restaurant on property to accommodate showing up with an extra person. They are often booked to capacity so it just may not be possible to "squeeze." Keep trying to get a new ADR, or make a backup plan.

I don't understand what a gifted reservation is. Disney doesn't change the names on reservations. I'd assume you're just going to show up instead, and give your friend's name.

If the restaurant is full at the time you arrive, they will not allow you in with the extra person, even if you volunteer to seat the child on your lap. It has to do with occupant capacity and fire codes, not whether there is space in the restaurant. Although Le Cellier is a very small restaurant.

If the restaurant is not full, they would probably just have you wait for a table that holds five.

This happened to me last year when I booked canada 90 days out and my mother in law decided to make our party 5 instead of 4. THEY WOULD NOT SEAT US. Firecode and such. I talked to the head of disney dining and he said he was very sorry but they couldn't do anything. It was our fault and I understood. Trust me, THEY WILL NOT SEAT YOU. No one cancelled their reservation either so that didn't help. Sorry....

:sad2: I guess I'll just keep trying for another reservation. If not we'll see if they have any cancelations that day.

Don't give up. While there is a chance you might not get it, people do cancel and do so even at the last minute. Things happen. Have you subscribed to the cancelled ADR thread for the month you are going? As well as checking online daily, I would recommend watching the Cancellation thread. If you do get one for 5, and I hope you do, don't forget to have your friend cancel the one for four people so that someone else can use it. I wish you all the best. :goodvibes

Thanks

I went ahead and told her to cancel it. The more I thought about it, there was no sense in stressing about one dinner.

I went ahead and made a reservation for Kona for breakfast the next day. I've always wanted to try the Tonga Toast :cool1:
