Question about a few rides

Hi again,

Trying to cram all of my last minute questions in before we leave on Wed. 14th. I do not handle the "lose your stomach" rides well at all but do not want to short my kids by not riding if at all possible. How is the "stomach" factor on the following rides?...Big Thunder railroad, Goofy's Barnstormer, and also Maelstrom, the Viking boat in Epcot..I read about a waterfall or something. Plus, if anyone knows of more that I should or should not be concerned about, please input. I have read virtually every guidebook out there and there is a different take from each of them...hard to know for sure really...but hearing here would help. My sons are 7 and 9 and starting to ride some more adventuresome stuff and I don't want to hold them back or miss out on their excitement.

Thanks to all, you gals/guys are the best!

Angie

The stomach factor on all 3 is very much OK.

The craziest of the 3 is BTMRR - and honest, it's not bad. :sunny:

BTMR is probably the most stomach factor and it really isn't that bad. Not many big drops from what I can remember, it mostly just has sharp turns and goes fast. Barnstormer is even less, my cousin goes on that and she hates fast "stomach-factor" rides ;)

Maelstrom is fine, DM goes on that and she hates any kind of thrill rides so you'll be fine! Enjoy your trip!!! :wizard:

My boss, who is scared of most rides, loves thunder mountain railroad, and goes on it over and over again. It's not bad at all. There are tight turns and it's rather smooth. There are big hills to go up, but no big drops as you may anticipate by going up the hills. it's all going down in tight turns around the mountain. Definately not one to be worried about.

The Branstormer is even less of a thrill ride than BTMRR. You will be fine on that one as well.

Thunder Mountain is a pretty tame roller coaster. If you're iffy about roller coasters, I would avoid this, as it does get a little jerky at times. It does not go upside down.

Goofy's Barnstormer. This is a children's roller coaster and tamer than Thunder Mountain.

The Maelstrom is a very gentle ride. There is a slight drop, but no worse than the drop in Pirates of the Carribean. You should be fine on this.

the only rides at wdw that are truly thrill rides( imo ) are Tot and RnR. even space mountian is tame as far as thrill rides go.( may be scary if you never ever go on any thrill type ride but they are nothing like a "full fledged" rollercoaster fun but onthe mild side of scary

In my opinion, these rides are not scary or hurdling. Not many people seem to get dizzy or sick from these rides. Splash Mtn's drop has a slight kick to it.

While I agree with the other posters, BTMRR is a little more intense when it is dark, since you can't see what the train is going to do next. Even then it is relatively mild.

I would agree with the above posters. BTMRR is the "wildest" out of the three but it is in no way really wild ! Just very fast and don't let the hills you go up scare you - there are no steep drops.

Goofy's Barnstormer is fine - you should have no problem !!

Those are "tame" rides. Splash Mountain has a steep, belly dropping drop, but it's honestly not going to make you sick.

Now, Tower of Terror might be another story because your stomach is dropping over and over again (but it's sooooo much fun!). You also might want to avoid Mission:Space.

BTMR is the only one that is even moderately an issue, heck my aunt goes on BTMR and she cant handle anything. Malestrom is about equal to the PoTC drop, and Barnstormer was made for children afterall.

I love thrill rides, but the older I get (37) I just cant take them like I use to. I love thunder rail road you should be o.k. on that and splash, ( there is only one hill on splash) I would keep away from space mountain its very, very, jerky, aerosmith rockin coaster stay away !!!! Good Luck!!!
