Would anyone share their experience at Turtle Talk with Crush? Do you think an 8 year old boy would enjoy it? or is he already too old? Also, can anyone tell me about the Pirate Adventure cruise that leaves from the Grand Floridian? I made a reservation for my son, but wanted to know what other people thought about it. Thanks! We leave in two weeks!

We went to Turtle Talk in June and it was GREAT-and we don't have any kids! The kids all sit in front and the CM brings the mike to them for their questions. Crush answers some pretty high level questions about undersea life, so I would help your son prepare some tough questions for him! The kids we were with asked about what turtles eat, if they had any natural predators, how long they live, how much they weigh and how many kids they had. I think the part that everyone likes best is that it is a live show and the experience depends on the group that's there and what kind of questions he gets. We're looking forward to going back again because the show will be different everytime.

I'm 31 and I LOVED it! It's cute AND fascinating. The kids up front were all in awe and constantly in fits of laughter. I would definitely recommend it for your son and for everyone else!

I'm 25 and I was amazed! It's an extremely entertaining show. Can't help on the Pirate Cruise though...they wouldn't let me on without a kid. Argh..

Hi!

We just went and June and my 8 year old loved it! It was a blast! My kids "totally" want to do it again "dude". If you want more detail, I talked it about it in my TR "Oh Luggage Where Art Thou?" If I were smart enough, I'd put the link for you. I'll see if I can figure that out.....
But anyway, your 8 yr old should love it!
We've never done the pirate cruise....sorry.

Our whole famly enjoyed Turtle Talk - very interesting!

Thanks for all the replies... everyone is so helpful! We will make sure to see this attraction. Honestly, I think I'm more excited to see it than my DS8. I think he will love it once he sees it. If anyone's children have been on the Pirate Adventure Cruise, I'd still be interested to hear about it.

I love when Crush talks about "making bubbles". Your son will probably get a real kick out of it. Kids love it and adults walk away wondering how it's done.

Our granddaughter, then six, did the Pirates Cruise. She loved it. I think it's one of the hidden treasures (crack myself up) of Disney World. Get there around 9:00 when the marina first opens. Your son will need to pick out a life vest (the Cast Member will later check it for a proper fit) and get his Mickey bandanna with ears and his name on it. You can then take lots of good pictures of the new pirate before anyone else shows up.

You will get a receipt and a pager when you check your son in. Make sure you have both at the end of the cruise. Right at 9:25, the pirates are grouped together and each one is assigned a buddy. They are given their instructions and they board the ship (a pontoon boat with a Jolly Roger flag). At 9:30 the ship will sail. Do not be late.

At 11:30, the ship will come back and you'll see 24 very happy and singing pirates. And they are loud! Don't miss the arrival. You'll turn over the receipt and the pager and your son will return from his adventure. It's very well done and you can see the whole boarding and unboarding process. My daughter-in-law and I took a monorail tour of the resorts while the cruise was going on.

The kids get a bag lunch (Uncrustables, juice box). And they do return with treasure. It's a lot of fun and all the kids really enjoyed it.

One small note - make sure your son goes to the bathroom before the cruise. We almost forgot and having a child on a boat and on islands with a full bladder for two hours isn't a good idea.

Look for a video of Turtle Talk on either youtube or google video. I saw a video for it the other day and it looked pretty entertaining!

Disnut8, thanks for all the information on the cruise. My son is excited about it now. Great bathroom tip, I will certainly remember that!
