Question about 4 in a room

A friend of mine is going to wdw in July they are staying at asmo. They have 4 in their family. Yesterday they told me they are now taking dd friend. Now there will be five. I said you can not stay in asmo anymore, since there now will be five people going. They told me they are just going to bring an air matteress. I was arguing with them telling them they can not do that. They don`t care. Am I wrong for being so mad?

No you are not wrong to be irritated. Rules are rules. You might tell them that their friend will not be able to do early entry since they will have no room key. This could be a real bummer since it is their daughter's friend. She may not be able to stay in the room alone and they won't get to take advantage of the biggest perk of staying onsite, EMH. Each person in the party has to have a room key to get an EMH bracelet. Some say they don't check room keys, not our experience. Each member of our family, including our dd who is a very small 8 year old had to show their key to get a bracelt. Also, if they get found out they might be asked to leave the resort or pay for an extra room. This issue gets debated a lot. It seems like such a minor thing but due to fire codes etc. that is just the way it is. Also it is not fair for this person to use the pools and other facilities when they are not a paying guest. JMHO!! But as somebody else said, let them try it and run the risk. Best case scenario they will be very crowded in there!

It is against the fire code there. The fire marshall recently changed the code and that is why they do not allow 5 people in the room anymore. If they get caught or turned in by a mousekeeper or another worker or guest....it will not be fun!! I would not recommend it. They should try to get a room at POR they allow 5 people in a room over there and have trundle beds in some of the rooms.

In all my years going to Disney, and most people know the rules, I seen 5,6,7 people come out of resort rooms. The average person in WDW is on an average income and getting 2 or 3 rooms isn't going to happen with them. Take a family of 5 plus one or 2 grandparents, and they are not going to get extra rooms much less pay extra adult prices. I've seen it, read the gripes on all the forums but its going to continue and mosuekeeping is lucky they get the rooms cleaned let alone play resort police. People will abuse and try anything, and most of the time, never get caught!

They will have the problem with EMH, most likely. And we just got back from ASMu on Sunday. There were 6 of us (me, dh, dd11, dd6, ds5, dd2). We had 2 rooms with connecting door (LOOOOONG drama about that, though, unfortunately!) Literally, when you open your front door, you bang into the bed. NOT kidding. And there is soooooo little drawer space/counter space! The table is a 2-person TINY one. I say, good luck and NO EMH!

BTW I know someone mentioned seeing 5,6,7 people coming out of one room. That was us, we all entered/exited through MY room's door but we DID have 2 rooms -- we left the connecting door open all the time between the rooms.

Hi taximomfor4, that could have been us at one point too. People should not jump to conclusions. We had 2 connecting rooms with 7 of us at WL and most mornings came out one door, lol! I can only imagine what people were thinking now.

Sorry, not to upset those who have already voiced their objection, but I see nothing wrong, at all with breaking the 4-in-a-room policy. It is hard enough to come up with the $$ for one value room, so getting a second room so that children can have their own double bed is simply nonsense.
Are you going on the trip also, is that why you are upset? Just wondering.

They will be sorry, not really any place to put the air mattress. AS rooms are small, especially when their are two double beds in the rooms.

my personal opinion is if you cannot afford the right room to fit your family onsite, then stay offsite where accomodations are less costly... i could not *imagine* staying at a value with five people in the room... heck, we take two rooms (connecting) for four of us... to cram all those people in the room would just be much too stressful and take the fun out of vacation...

When we were leaving POR one day last trip there was a group of seven yelling (in not very good English) something about getting kicked out of their room for having 7 in there and management trying to explain to them that it's for their own safety.

no, I am not going on the trip with them They are going in july and I am going in August. But I would hate for them to travel all the way there and then get kicked out because they can`t follow the rules. I just thought I `d tell them a little piece of advice before they found out the hard way.
But we all know people who you cannot tell anything to.

By the way it is not a friend it is my brother who is doing this. I didn`t want people to know I was related to the person who is doing this. Sorry didn`t mean to lie.

Haha! That's ridiculous. Just let the guy do it. What do you care whether or not your brother does it or not? If I was your brother, I'd have a little back up plan like making sure they know of an off-site hotel where they can stay just in case. Like anything in Lake Buena Vista is $40 - $80 a night and much closer and nicer than the places in Kissimmee. Try his hand at what he wants to get away with but if some one rats on him (I don't know why people care so much about what other people do on their vacations so much), then take the fam to a close off-site for the rest of the vacation. There are ridiculous amounts of hotels/motels in the area...or go over to POP for heaven's sake...very unlikely they'll get kicked out once, let alone twice...unless they're throwing huge parties or creating a lot of noise.

And the whole cramping issue is a matter of preference...some people feel cramped and some people don't. The last time I went, we were 2 couple in the same room - brothers and girlfriends. FOR 3 WEEKS! We made it through just fine.

Do I waste my day worrying about the guy in front of me that just ran a red light!? And that scenario has worse possible ramifications than your brother taking his daughter's friend along.
