Question about 4/3 deal and use of tickets

Hello, I just booked my 4/3 deal online. I already have some tickets that are no expiration. When I was talking with the agent I asked if they would mail the tickets to me and she said they would be waiting for me when I check in.

She also said that the tickets would be on my room key? So, I am scared that I am going to be forced to use these tickets during this trip when I would prefer to use the others that I have that have no expiration. and save these tickets for a later date.

Does this make sense? I thought that I would receive a separate ticket that I could activate at any time I chose?

You can remove the tickets from your room key and have them placed on a separate ticket for later use. I have an AP and have done this several times with package tickets. It can be done at your resort ticket counter, and if you get a CM who tells you that you can't do it there, or that it can't be done at all, ask for a manager because it can.

O.k. great. I have the 7 day park hopper booked, but on this trip I don't plan to go to the parks for all 7 days so I don't want to use these tickets (and would use my old no expirations that I have).

So, just to clarify, I just need to tell them upon check in to take the tickets off of my key and give me a separate park ticket? I just want to be sure!!!

Thanks again for everyone's help.

I have been advised by those who know to have the tickets taken off the key by the Concierge Desk, not by the check in folks. They do it better. (And everyone has access to the Concierge Desk; this is not the same thing as Club Level.)

I always get my tickets removed from my room key at the MK guest service window. Never had a problem.

More questions
If I take the park ticket off the room key can some one else then use the ticket? And if so can they use it a couple months later?

You don’t have to take the tickets off your room key, but it is better if you are doing a ticket upgrade, especially if you have a dining plan. Really and truly necessary if upgrading to an AP. It’s better to do it at concierge than guest services because guest services aren’t as adept at doing it and are known to lose the dining credits and deactivate the key. No big deal, the resort can fix it, but then you can’t use your dining credits until you go back to the resort and don’t know they are gone (they don’t do it every time) until you go to use it. Not fun, I’m sure.

I never got around to having the tickets removed from my resort key last trip so I am now saving the room keys. When I go to upgrade the tickets at AP renewal time, I’ll just bring in the room keys to guest services. You do not use your room key to get into the parks, so there is no forcing you to use it. If not upgrading on that trip, it’s just a convenience thing.

An unused ticket may be given to anyone. Tickets never expire until 14 days after first use, if no expiration option purchased. Upgrading ability also expire after 14 days of first use.
