Question about 180 days out ADR policy

I understand that there are some restaurants like CRT and Ohana that book up within minutes of the 180 day window opening.

If you stay on property, I believe that you can actually begin booking at 180 days out from your arrival day.

So if you arrive on Saturday, you could actually book a Wednesday CRT at 184 days out?

If so, is it critical to begin booking the morning of 180 days from your arrival date, or just before the 180 days out for each restaurant you are booking?

yes you can do this on 180 days from your arrival day, but only for the first 10 days of your trip. If your trip is more than 10 days you'd need to book day by day for day 11 and any days past that.

I'm not sold on it being critical unless you want Le Cellier, or Ohana before 8 PM. Or a Fantasmic package.

If you are staying on-site, you should definitely take advantage of the "+10" if you can - that is one of the perks of staying on-site. Once 180 days from the actual dining date hits - anyone can book a reservation for that day.

I do agree, though, that it's not THAT critical for most places. But I still use that advantage when I can.

You cannot book an adr more than 180 days from your arrival day.

And as PP said, it is a good idea to take advantage of the +10.

It was confusing to me, because I didn't undertand the +10.
Exactly 180 days from your arrival day you can book your adrs for up to 10 days PAST your arrival day.

I always thought it was 10 days before you arrive, which is wrong.

Hopefully that cleared it up for you.

So the morning of your 180 day if you want popular places, it is important to be online ready to go at 6am EST or 7am EST for the phone ressie line.

Also, is there a list somewhere of which reservations are hardest to get? I've heard, CRT, Ohana, and the Fantasmic packages.

We just booked the Villas of Wilderness Lodge at end of January (180 days from this Monday ), and we're still trying to work out which restaurants on which days.

Sometimes things do book up. If you are booking something REALLY popular (Le Cellier for example) it is even best to call on your 180th day (from arrival) AND request a reservation towards the end of your trip. Because only people calling on the same day as you have the ability to book that day. If you schedule it for, say, 5 days into your trip, there have already been 5 days worth of on-site guests able to book that day. A little confusing, I know.
