Question about 11 month rule... how do you calculate it?

This may seem silly, but how do you calculate your 11 month window if you want to make your ressies day-by-day?

Is it 11 months from the day that you'll be checking in, then each day after that you call?

For example, if I wanted to stay on August 31st, would I call on Sept. 30th the previous year? Or Oct. 1st? Or is the whole month freed up, like I would call anytime in the month of May the year before I wanted to stay in April?

I'm so confused, and being an anal planning-type, I need to know the exact details... maybe I was a bean counter in a previous life!

First, no need to call day by day, but the 11 month is caculated from the check out date, not the check in date. If you wanted to stay Feb 15 and check out Feb 16th the first day you would call to make that reservation would be March 16th of the year before, or 11 months.

But what about the 31st of the month when there isn't a 31st of the month at the 11 month mark ? In other words, when August has 31 days and Sept. has 30?

I'm not sure on the 30/31 rule (or what happens on Leap Year). I think you can reserve on the 30th if it's the last day of the month for a date starting on the 31st but I'm not sure.

I can give you one other tidbit. Using the easy example -- if you were booking on March 16 for a February 25 stay, but March 16 was a Saturday, Sunday or holiday when MS is closed, you have to wait until the next day that they are open. (You can't book on the day preceeding.)

Now, if you are coming up on a banking deadline -- it's the opposite. The rule is you must close on the day before MS is closed.

It has to be at least 11 months, not less. There is nothing to confuse yourself, also it is not a do or die situation at the 11 month window, a few days is not going to make any difference. In your example you would have to call Oct 1 st, you can never call on a earlier day.

The eleven month day for August 30 would be September 30, so the eleven month day for August 31 is October 1. Of course October 1 is also the eleven month day for September 1, but life can be confusing. Remember that every Monday is also the eleven month day for making reservations for three different departure dates, since MS is closed on Saturday and Sunday. There's really no practical difficulty with this arrangement.

Create your vacation on the main calendar page, click Feature, Show Vacation Report.

Your regular 11-month/7-month booking date is shown at the bottom. Click the 11-month or the 7-month button to get the day-day booking dates.

I highly recommend going through the tutorial as FLYNZ4 suggests. There are a lot of features such as multiple resorts on the same day, expanded calendar display, banking deadlines, etc that the tutorial explains.

Well, in August I'm planning on doing an 11th month day-by-day for next summer. Before this thread, I was concerned about the process and how it would affect me (video of a typical DVC member worrying about doing such a day-by-day is below), but this thread has helped and calmed me down!!!
