Question about 10% food discount with AP....

Last summer we upgraded our UndercoverTourist 10-day park hopper tickets to annual passes. We had no problems bridging however we had to wait until the second half of our trip to upgrade to AP. This is because the 10 day tickets could reserve 10 days of FP+, but the annual passes can only reserve a maximum of 7 days of FP at a time.

On our most recent trip, only I upgraded from the old annual pass to the new annual pass. The expiration date did not change, but this allowed me to get free PhotoPass downloads (perk on the new tiered passes) for everyone in my family on this and all future trips until the pass expires. I also have TiW, so I cannot speak to the AP dining discount, but I have not found any drawbacks. Unless you count all of the extra trips we are taking because the AP'S are burning a whole in our pockets.

Thank you!! Is the PhotoPass downloads perk basically the same as Memory Maker? The reason I ask is that the CM I spoke to on the phone told me that with the AP, I would have to be present for all pictures. Someone else on the boards said no, you just have to link everyone to your account. So, if my kids are linked to mine and they go off to do something different, will we get those pics?

I keep hearing people say not to get it for the resort discounts, but what if what you save enough with the resort discount on this one trip to break even with the AP? If my math is right, the 7-day PH I bought from Parksavers will bridge to an AP for around $330. If I apply the AP discount to my resort stay, it saves me $250 there. I'm planning on buying MM, so that's another $150. So if I'm right, it should save me close to $70.

Are you hoping to upgrade the pass when you get to the parks so that the bridging works- meaning you will enter the parks using your current ticket at least once, then upgrade to AP?

For the AP resort discount, are you hoping to get that for your current trip, or one that you plan on booking in the future?

bumpershoot, what you post is true...but I've been to GS many times over many years. MK has by far been best for us.

I hope we can agree that of all the GS windows, it is probably best to avoid the back gate of Epcot- if possible. That gate often only has one or two people, and they are not managers.

Even there, my last visit was S-L-O-W, but our CM was very nice and knew his stuff.

Maybe that is the better takeaway, if I encounter any CM that doesn't know what they are doing, I try to quickly find a different one or a supervisor.

Yes, and yes. :) It would be an extra 5% off the resort price of my current trip.

Good question!

Phone CM's are notorious for giving incomplete information. There too, I've encountered some doozies!

I should think the DISer gave you a better answer than the phone CM, but that is a bit of a hunch.

The only difference I have found in the AP benefit compared to Memory Maker last summer is that I have to download photos one at a time rather than the bulk file downloads. I don't know for sure that it isn't possible, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Just as before, I can view and download photos for everyone linked in my Friends and Family in MDE. I have viewed and downloaded ride photos my nieces took when I wasn't even in the park. Just make sure that everyone has permissions set to share and view photos with you in MDE.

Then absolutely pay attention to the price they give for the AP! Make sure you are getting the discount.

I also suggest you do what I did- before you open your tickets from UT- take a picture that you can carry with you (assuming you have a cell phone). That saved my day, but I should probably add, one of my experiences was before the new MDE ticket linking.

If you link your tickets via MDE, that will also help 'prove' they are your tickets.

Thanks so much!

DS and I have had PAP for years. The discounts we received - hotel when on property, parking when off etc essentially paid for one of our APs. It factors in for me.
