Question abiout Magic Your Way Package

I hope this is the right place to post this question. I am staying at WDW for a total of 15 days(going into the park for 10). We'll be visiting Universal and Sea World. Since Disney only will sell me a 10 day vacation package with dining I booked that package. Oh, and I'm not going until 12/06. O.K. my question is...I come in on 12/09 and don't plan to move to Universal until 12/22. So, I'm 2 days short. Holiday Season starts on 12/19 so my plan was to book room only for 12/9 & 12/10 and then start my package on 12/11. The problem is that I would like to go into the parks from the 9th or 10th at the latest. If I understand right the hotel will not give me the room keys w/tickets until the day my package starts 12/12. Is this right? Anyone have any ideas around this dilema I want to go to DW earlier in the month to avoid the crowds and go to Sea World on the Weekend. Thanks for your help.

It's not that they "won't" give you the tickets it is that they "can't". The tickets are linked to the reservations Package and are not accessible until the package is "exploded" (front desk talk there...). The reservation has to be checked in in order for any of the elements of the package to be accessible. It is not like they have your tickets sitting in will call or an envelope and just won't give them to you... they are all tied in with the reservation itself. The only way around it is to change your hotel days for the package and/or buy additional park days seperatly.

Could you split your stay into 3 reservations? You could do a 1 night room only ressie for your first night, then do your 10 day package, then another 1 night room only ressie. You'd be able to check out/check for your pkg portion of the trip as early as 7 AM, so you'd get your park passes then and be able to hit the parks. Your dining portion of the pkg will not expire until midnight on the day of checkout, so you will be covered for meals for an 11 day period (if you share meals a few times, you should have enough credits to stretch over the full 11 days). Thanks everybody. I forgot that I am sooo fortunate to be able to stay at Shades of Green. So, I will stay on my package for the first 10 nights then move to Shades of Green. That way I will still have my tickets to use and be on property. Thanks for your advice. In the event that I can't get ressies at Shades of Green I'll use your suggestions.
