So my family (of four) is going to Disney the last week of May. We are planning to book our trip next month. My parents will be going with us.

Should we book us all together? Or separate?

How does that work for magic bands? I will probably need to make my parents fast passes match ours.

We haven't been to Disney for two years and the magic bands are new to us.

Here's what I think you're really asking:

Can I let my parents book and pay for their own trip, but let me manage it?
OR
Do I need to book us all on the same reservation just so I can manage it?

You can manage friends' and family reservations, including FP+ and customizing magic bands. I'm doing it now for my MIL. It's really easy, and nice to book your Fastpasses together. I expect it will be even better if we need to change things during the trip.

The details are here, step-by-step with screenshots. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/family-friends/

But, if your parents do book travel separately, but want you to manage the account, then your parents will need to go into My Disney Experience (they'll need an account, etc) to accept the invitation to let you manage it.

Whether that scenario works for you depends on how computer literate they are. My MIL spends all day on Facebook, so it was not an issue for her.

On the other hand, if it had been my late parents, dealing with anything on the computer would have been a nightmare. I would have just booked the trip and had her write me a check!

Thanks. My parents can book and handle it. But, to make the reservations for fast passes.. I'm not so sure. LOL I don't think my mom would care enough to get on there and get the right fast passes.

I manage my family, my Mom and my (ex) in-laws. None of them even know they have MDE. Their FP's are just "magically" done. I found it easier that way. There's nothing on there that they really need and can't find on the regular disney website, I figured. They just go where I tell them.

That said, you can book and have them call and pay over the phone (I think they just need the reservation number). If you're doing separate rooms, if you're booking online you can't do it together (but you can do one right after another).
