Linda (5?) Lost Count of Trips, Scotts Mum
Graham (5?) Lost Count of Trips, Scotts Dad
We wake up and discuss the halloween party with Graham and Linda. We go outside to head to Dunkin' Donuts and Graham looks up and down the parking lot looking for our replacement car. He's obviously confused as there's nothing in the lot that we would have been given in the economy catagory, or even in the ones above it. We start walking towards the Charger which is at the end as as we get closer, passing each car, Graham starts grinning more and more until we reach it. "They never gave you that?!?" he laughs as Scott pulls out the key, Scott explains that he upgraded and we take the car down to Dunkin ' Donuts.
We get there and I get a toasted cream cheese bagel and a double chocolate donut. We drive to EPCOT and the crowds are huge due to the Food & Wine Festival. We go to Mission: Space and join the single riders queue which doesn't move an inch for over 5 minutes so we give up. All the other rides in the park have even longer queues so we decide that MGM is a better deal.
We get to MGM and get fastpasses for the Rock N Roller Coaster then head to the Tower of Terror. I choose to wait it out in the giftshop while the others ride as I can't stand that ride so I enjoy myself in the cool dark exit area watching the funny ride photos coming up on the screens. I notice the clock says 13:13 but don't notice if it's permanently set that way or if it's just a spooky coincidence. I finally meet up the guys looking exhilerated from their big drop and we head over to the "Villians in Vogue" store to have a browse before the fastpasses roll around. The others join the fastpass line whilst I head straight around to the gift shop to wait for them. I decide to pick up a pressed penny and a plectrum to use in my scrapbooking. When the others emerge from the ride we head over to catch the new Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. The show is pretty cool with amazing action sequences but we all feel it went on for much too long, I know that my attention was certainly waneing by the time it ended. When the show is over we come out to find Mulch, Sweat & Shears - one of MGM's street bands - setting up. Linda and Graham had told us about these a few days ago as they spotted them playing the previous week and loved them. We hang around to hear their set, especially loving whe Queen covers. We eat at the ABC Commissary which is rather unimpressive really, I get a standard burger and fries and after lunch we take in a hatrick of classic favourites; Muppet Vision 3D, Star Tours and The Great Movie Ride.
Next up is the Backlot Tour and when we reach the entrance a CM is standing outside trying to get some volunteers to be in the first part of the show. Graham leaps at the chance and signs up, trying to persuade the rest of us to join too - we just laugh at the suggestion. Our group, along with the groups of the otherfools volunteers are held back from the main queue and while they listen to the introduction, we are all lead through a back way and told to stand in the middle of the viewing area. Of course this means that when the rest of the audience files in they get annoyed with us for not moving down! Now you have never seen the Backlot Tour until you have seen a friend or family member become THAT person who gets the thousands of gallons of water poured over them. That one moment alone made it totally worth spending the money to buy a camcorder for this trip! When the shoot is complete our groups are held back again until the friends and family reunite. Graham is now soaked down his shirt as he forgot to put the hood up on the blue jumpsuit they gave him! He has also been given a small certificate to commemorate the event.
When we finally got to the trams, they were full up so we got to ride up in the front with the driver which was a wonderful treat for us all! On our trip we spotted some of the clothes from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy film, along with an escape pod. By the time we've finally exited the Backlot Tour it's getting late so it's straight over to Fantasmic! We're seated in the 2nd to last block on the 3rd row back which gives us a pretty good view considering how late we are arriving. The boys head off to get drinks and snacks while me and Linda hold our seats, I get one of my beloved Toll House Cookies and Scott gets a Mickey head cookie and a bottle of water. As we wait for Fantasmic! to begin, I notice the moon hovering over the Hollywood Tower Hotel and a lightning storm going on too, giving it an even spookier atmosphere - one that is soon lightened by the Mexican wave rippling around the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre.
Fantasmic! is, well... Fantasmic as usual! We file out slowly and eventually find the car and drive to Bennigans near Old Town. We sit at the bar and Linda orders a Tropical Hurricane to compensate for us not getting a real one this trip - well that was her story anyway! When a table becomes free we order our dinner; steak medallions for Scott, a steak for Graham and chicken strips for me and Linda (NB - I'm writing this at 9.45pm on a Tuesday and it is soo making me want a Bennigans meal right now!!) We are soon stuffed and can't even think about facing dessert so we pay our bill and drive home for a good night's sleep which will be Linda and Graham's last night in Florida this year.
