Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

Meghan has never been called or referred to as a Princess.

Catherine has never been called Princess Catherine, but will be now. Her full title will be Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.
I'm sure on Prince George's birth certificate as her job title it states Princess of the United Kingdom but that is the only reference I've ever heard of.

No. She is Catherine, the Princess of Wales…

To be Princess ”first name”, you have to be born a princess.

Touché

I should have said, “In the British Royal family”.
Had to think how we do it here in NL.
Our current king has 3 girls, so all are Princess Amalia, Alexia and Ariane, no partners yet.
The previous queen ((Beatrix) had 3 boys,, and their spouses all became Princess [first name].
The queen before that (Juliana) had all girls again, and only the spouse of Beatrix became Prince Claus when he married Beatrix. Same goes for Juliana's husband, he became prince of the Netherlands by marriage, but he was already a prince in his own German family line before that.

Ok Disers! Who is this hot Scottish guy? He seems important as I spotted him again at the Privy council. He was wearing a kilt today too ( one with all the medals)

I think what I found to be the best part of Queen Elizabeth II was how she always acted with dignity and service. It's not something you see from politicians. The Royal Family had an official twitter, but she would have never even considered tweeting or saying in public something rude or disrespectful. Any disrespect she would allude to was subtle and with grace, and involved what she wore, not anything she ever said.

...Technically, as the second son of the monarch, Harry's normal title at this point would be the Duke of York. The obstacle is that there already *is* a Duke of York, his Uncle Andrew. I suspect the plan is to give the York title to Harry when Andrew dies, and Sarah Ferguson, if she is still alive, would become Sarah, Dowager Duchess of York. (Another question re: a title plan, is the question of whether Charles grants Edward his father's title, Duke of Edinburgh, which was the late Duke's stated wish. Apparently he also wished for the title to become hereditary, and that's the tricky part; the UK hasn't created a new life peerage since 1984.)

Speaking of Andrew, I have a feeling that we will be hearing soon that he has decided to relocate and give up his life lease on Royal Lodge, Windsor (which is by far the nicest secondary property on the Windsor estate grounds, and coincidentally, the house where the Queen grew up.) I think odds are VERY good that he will soon be told that the Wales' need the house. He and Charles were never close, and the Epstein connection was the final straw. Charles now considers Andrew the proverbial blot on the family escutcheon, and he will not want him underfoot next door at Windsor anymore. It will be interesting to see how that relationship shakes out going forward after the funeral.
:lovestrucLOVE this, and I hope it happens! He and Sophie deserve some sort of prize if for no other reason than they've managed to avoid any sort of negative notoriety over the past 23 years. We could acclaim him Prince of "Under the Radar". :goodvibes

I never liked Catherine or Cathy spelled with a C. Katherine, Kathleen, Kathy, etc. is more acceptable to me.

That is my knee-jerk reaction, too. But I think it's because "Cathy" was always a very plain and comfortable name when I was growing up.
But...Catherine the Great was always spelled with a "C," so I need to readjust my thinking.

German descendant? In German, Dutch and other close languages, we use a K instead of C very often.

As the letter C isn't much used in Dutch, names starting with C are more special. K names are very ordinary and plain.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was the Princess of Wales name at birth. My understanding it's what her family and friends call her..Catherine. The media dubbed her Kate.

Polish descent.

I never found much use for the letter C in English. In most kases
a K or S kan be used instead.

William, Kate, Harry and Meghan are out at Windsor and looking at the flower tributes and then moved to greeting the crowds.
The BBC cameras are only on William and Kate.

*Edit* Ah, they have found the Sussexes again.
And after a minute back to Waleses

She's only a Princess by marriage so she can call herself Princess Henry. She is not Princess Meghan. Big difference.
Yep, like that woman who gives out the Wimbledon trophy. Princess Michael of Kent or similar. She can use her husband's name as princess, but not her own name.

I have a very dear Cathy in my life so I must beg to differ. I had a Kathy with a K in school with me that was a queen B. Kathy with a K still sends shivers down my spine.
