When my kids were growing up our big local bowling alley would hold a NYE bowling party for the kids. They would turn some of the lights out, have disco ball lights going, provided pizza and drinks and each kid would get a ticket for a door prize. It would go from 6-8 and at 7:30 they would do the countdown and have a big balloon drop. We would always get a big group of friends to go and they would have so much fun. Evan won a bowling ball one year, I think the other 2 might have won smaller gifts over the years. They would give away nice prizes, a bike, TV, and there was a lot of prizes so it wasn't just 10 tickets pulled and that was it. The bowling alley was sold and I don't know if the new owners still do this.

Good morning! Feeling a little better, finally. Still slightly winded but getting the cement-guck out with heat (coffee, tea). Thankfully. Thank you for the prayers and good wishes.

@SpaceMan5 That’s nice with the kids. I’m sorry to hear about the surgeries and hope they’re both doing ok. My son is into golf, too, plays all year, played at Disney last week! (And clubs made it home this time.) I didn’t post on that thread but I have posted about my username before. Today I’d pick a different name, but I don’t dislike my name.

My kids are similar ages and still with us, too. We live in Taxachussets so COL is insane here, as well. All the young nurses I work with who moved out are moving back home as they learn they can’t save. Anyway, we have an empty in-law apt that DD is going to do over after the first of the year (mainly cosmetics and removing rugs, new floors and cabinets/counters). Her next stop is her own home, as she’s saving. DS is similar, we have a multi-level home and this past spring we renovated the lower level with him and he’s comfortable there it has everything but its own kitchen (which I doubt he’d use anyway; we have a fridge down there in our storage room, and our kitchen is at the top of the stairs), very studio-like. Both pay us rent. He works FT now and picks up as much OT as he can. Sometime next year he’ll likely be leaving for a year or so to go to flight school, then getting flight hours in for a while. We all enjoy eachother‘s company and even sometimes travel together, still. We know that will eventually change as they meet people, and that’s fine when it does. Our house was always multigenerational as my mother lived with us for 25 years; DH grew up in a house with his grandmother, too. It works for our family. We all help eachother out, too. They saw how that worked as my mother helped out when they were younger and we kept her at home and cared for her through hospice.

QOTD: NYE - I worked it last year. I’m off but we’ll be having a quiet night at home, will likely cook something. Not sure who will be home with us at this point. We had many years where we went to, or had, bonfires on the beach with fireworks and chilly dips in the ocean on NY Day. Too cold for that now! (Maybe until grandchildren come along.) If anyone asks me to work it for them I might consider it to get the holiday pay. We’ll see. DH couldn’t care less, he’ll be snoozing in his recliner anyway, lol.

Making lemon chicken tonight, this time without all those spices we used last month that made it too spicey. DD and I got Moe’s last night and for the first time, it wasn’t good. Made both of us feel sick. Disappointing. We’ve had some good Mexican food lately between Arizona and FL but around here it can be hard to come by. I had a friend from TX visiting this area and she told me she thought Moe’s was closest to Tex-Mex. Who knows. I think the person making the dish has to care a bit and not just slop everything together, which is what it felt like last night. Yuck.

Lynn, I would’ve liked the Barry Manilow special, too. DD and I watched Charlotte’s Web after searching around for something to watch for a while. That was my favorite story when I was little but for whatever reason, she didn’t remember it. (I even had a picture of the book cover on her wall.) Anyway, it was cute. Had the little girl from I Am Sam who was younger then. Well DD was a mess at the end, lol. She’s a big animal lover like we all are here. But Charlotte the spider died naturally and Wilbur got to live! So we discussed that this morning again.

We’ll probably getting too wordy and no one will read it. Speaking of which, I wonder if people are putting our whole thread on Ignore now? :lmao: Hearing how people really feel on the ‘Controversy’ thread.

I hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday! 🐥

I read every post on this board. Anyone who puts our thread on ignore will be missing out on a lot, lol!

Amen dear Lynn and thank you! I have zero interest in checking out the controversy thread. I pray to only choose forever Jesus! I pick joy and have no desire for negativity or drama, no thanks. Healing love to dear you and all in extra need. Remember dear Quacker family, this time of year is all about and all because of He Who is LOVE! Christ loves you! My love from CA, too :) God gave me a miracle last night. I did get up as often, truly every hour or so is just right now what my legs and feet need. As my cousin Ruth said last night, movement is a huge healing key. I choose to look at it as every step=one closer to healing and of course to and with God. In between my getting up, I SLEPT! Praise extra to God. Today, I had a nice earlier rest here at the table already and am doing my best to grow and keep my strong faith. Dad, God Bless him, is hanging in there, too. Please do extra keep him in your prayers. I will try to come back later. XO!

I hope she doesn't mind that I share this with you, but a very kind Quacker named @Judique was in WDW. She was reading some of our thread while there, and saw the post saying I put up a tree this year. She took the time to go and find an ornament for me to add to it, and had it shipped to me. It was so kind and thoughtful of her, and I just wanted to publicly thank her, as well as sending her a private message. I just love it!

I have a 31 yo DD living with me and I also love it! Particularly love that she does most of the cooking! She could be living elsewhere as she has a decent job and is independent and perfectly able to support herself. She chooses to stay and I choose to have her stay.
That is awesome for you and your daughter.

So how do we channel your daughter wanting to do most of the cooking to my kids....

That was so nice of @Judique! :lovestruc I’m glad you liked it, Lynn. A little cat is perfect.

That reminds me, I saw this on IG the other day and took some screenshots for @PollyannaMom.
Someone should make those to sell! Lucky cat!

@bobbiwoz, I hope your husband Tom is doing ok. And everyone who isn’t well.

Night, everyone! 🐥

@Judique What a lovely ornament to send to Lynn. So thoughtful!

Thoughts and prayers for all.

Good morning. It is 26 right now going to around 40. Tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest day of the week. When I get up early to make my early morning drive to the office it will be around 20. I had a nice walk yesterday at the park in Kenny's town. I may go again today. It is peaceful and mostly flat. I see rain in the forecast for 2 days in a row so my stress level is heading up. I hope it is not alot of rain.

I may be spending New Year's Eve at Kenny's. HIs GF is on a cruise and I believe the kids are with their mom. I am also spending a few nights at his house for Christmas. He has the kids for Christmas and the next couple of days. I have to work but I can do it from his house. Plus I told my boss I may take a few hours off here and there.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Cape May. 🌞 Tom’s second night home was as uneventful as his first. He is sleeping very well on a recliner. 💤🙂

I am doing far less coughing than I had been. I have tried sleeping to night sounds and for four nights now, I have fallen asleep without taking a sleep aide. I still wake up 3-4 times, but I do get back to sleep faster.
