Good morning.
Been a quiet couple of days. That's always a good thing. Ella needed money for Volleyball so I gave her that. I helped with Jay and baseball for many years so it wasn't a huge deal. She plans on playing for 2 community organizations as they play at different times and going to Volleyball camp again this summer. I don't know how she got so into the sport but I encourage sports for the kids. It's a great help for the real world as adults according to a study I read years ago in school. I also like her getting out and getting the exercise. She of course conned me into it by calling and starting the conversation with, "Grandmom who I love so much." I knew she was up to something. I told her that I planned on embarrassing her in Disney in June. When I told her how she responded, "I won't be embarrassed, I'll be the star!" I am planning on the Hoop de Doo Revue one night and want to have her included in the celebrations. I should have known that she will love that. She made me laugh so hard tears rolled down my face and I really needed the laugh. She finds out Friday if she gets into the magnet schools she applied to for admission for High School. I am on the fence about the one school. It is an excellent school, two of my brothers went there, but it is in a really bad neighborhood. The school district also changed the admission process so that neighborhood kids get priority. This school used to be nationally ranked and had high admission standards. All A's and B's, high standardized test scores - in the top 10% of the city, and recommendations from the school they attended. Sadly, with the new admission process they are doing a disservice to the kids, neighborhood and elite.
I was supposed to head to Downtown Philly today with my daughter. That was postponed because she is missing paperwork that was needed. We need to replace Crystal's Social Security card so she can get an ID. This is a lesson in futility. You need the card to get an ID and you need an ID to get the card. We need to jump through hoops, but we need Crystal to get an ID as she is over 18 and can't fly without it. Thankfully we have 5 months til we leave. I am HOPING that is enough time. My daughter is a bit unorganized.
Since my plans were changed I am working on backing up my pictures. Last night I dropped the external drive I found that had most, but not all, my pictures on it. I thought I was going to lose them a second time. Somehow I put the drive back together and it worked. I was thrilled.
Hope you all have a great day.
