Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning or I guess it's later afternoon for most of you. My two best friends came over last night for dinner. We've been friends since HS and love when we can spend some time together. One is a hair stylist so I offered him dinner if he would cut DDs hair, he can't make it into the salon before he leaves for the day. He was doing our other friends hair at the end of his day so they both came over after that. I made enchiladas, some tacos and refined beans. It was yummy and he ended up giving my hair a little trim too. They ended staying for quite awhile visiting which was nice.

@Snowysmom hope you're feeling better and your cold went away. I kept thinking I was getting a cold yesterday but it went away as the day went on so I'm thinking it was just allergies as I woke up feeling sneezy again this morning.

@lynxstch I hope your land line issue gets resolved. You said it was rainy yesterday, could it have been weather related?

@Kirby saying some prayers for your son. If it is some sort of blood disorder, I hope it's something manageable.

@flyingdumbo127 got you're starting to get your mail and the bowl issue was resolved.

Bacon jalapeno mac
i dont know what happened to the rest of that quote...lol but that meal was one of our favorites even without any meat. Yum. Im usually not a mac and cheese fan but i loved it.

The sun is finally out here after several days of rain!
i like the rain but a day it gets old. LOL Glad the sun is shining for you.
Fingers crossed that this new technician will
What a pain. We had that problem with our homeowners and a plumbing service for our hot water heater. It was supposed to be a stupid virtual appt too and they no showed. Soo annoying. I ended up requesting someone else after they wanted me to wait a week for another appointment...with no hot water. Uh...no thank you.
Also....welcome to the post. :)

I stopped at Kohl's on the way there and ended up buying myself a new coat and a new outfit. That's very unlike me but I told myself, "screw it",
Good for you...sometimes we need to splurge on ourselves.

Well, my intention for today was to get going early to run some errands. Nope, didn’t happen.
That was me yesterday....I couldnt get going on my errands. I ended up at the grocery store only because i was making dinner and needed chicken for the enchiladas. LOL Everything else I'm supposed to do today but I don't even feel like doing it today. LOL

Jim is home and all went well. They had a little trouble locating the device being removed from his chest but he managed with little pain. He even felt well enough to walk the dog when we got home. She hasn't left his side and he is asleep on the couch. My daughter will stop by tomorrow to remove the bandage and check the incision.
So glad everything went well.

I need to get ready to run to the mall for a pickup order at Macy's but I don't feel like driving all that way...I put it off all day yesterday and I know for sure I don't want to go to the mall on the weekend so I guess I better get ready. 👎

@Kirby I was just wondering roughly how old your son is? Praying for him. 🙏🏻
He's 34.
Just a quick stop to ask for prayers for my husband as he has a "minor" surgical procedure today. I get nervous ever since the strokes following a surgery. Thanks. Will update later.
Prayers for a full recovery for your DH and no issues.
I consider you all friends, even though we have never met.
@flyingdumbo127 I just bought myself a new coat too, will post pic at bottom. I got it at Old Navy online last week when it was 50% off, also used some Old Navy cash I had to use up. No way would I have paid $89 for it. It's still on sale now, but only at 25% off.
This is the coat, and the color I got

Love that color!

Dinner was real exciting, a bowl of Count Chocula cereal! I love that cereal and it's only available during Halloween season
Yum! I picked up some BooBerry for the kids but I haven't been brave enough to try it . . . yet.
Some days a good bowl of cereal is all that's needed for dinner, lol!
A bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats was my dessert last night and it hit the spot!

@tazdev3225 Glad to hear your husband is doing relatively well after his procedure. Sending wishes for a speedy recovery.

Good afternoon everyone. Busy week followed by a busy weekend & busy beginning of the week next week for us as well. Sometimes busy is good though, so no complaints. Okay - just a few complaints :P Husband is off to Lynn's neck of the woods for the weekend, he'll be home Sunday afternoon. He's going to make a quick pit stop at his folks (they aren't close but he likes to check in a few times per year) and then he is off to spend the weekend with his Aunt, Uncle and go hunting with his Cousin. I'm glad he's going up, he's been just slammed at work trying to get a few new trucks and our new tractor trailer on the road. I'm going to try to get what I hope is the last mowing of the year done tomorrow/Saturday. I need to do a major clean up, a major inventory of dog food and go to the grocery store. Monday I'm in the office in the AM, at a jobsite in the PM. Tuesday I'm at a jobsite all day as I'm hosting a BBQ for 75. And Wednesday we finally leave for our trip to Europe that we have had to put off for the past 2 years. 10 days of history and new experiences and new territory to explore. I'm not even going to fuss over packing until Wednesday morning!
Oh - and we got the email notification that our mail in ballots were logged in. Whew - first time I've ever voted that way. In truth I very much prefer to vote in person, and I think this is the first year I won't be walking into a voting station since I could vote!

One thing after the other..what a pita
Indeed! Hope they get you straight soon.
Dad does tend to do okay with shots other than sore arms
Good to hear, hope he's feeling okay. I got a flu shot not to long ago and felt nothing!
They are putting up a new one of those in a town I'm frequently driving thru for work, I've only been in one once or twice.
I'm enjoying the vibrant fall foliage. 🍁
Me, too! Welcome to our thread by the way!
I was going to mow,
That's on my chore list this weekend as well. Hopefully for the last time, but who knows.
Jim is home and all went well
Glad to hear that, I hope he has a restful afternoon & evening.
I hope he hears from his Dr.'s soon and can get on the road to recovery soon after.

Well, nothing new to report aside from the above. No clue about dinner, I'll scratch up something. And a glass of wine to go with it! Looks like it's going to be a half decent weekend, hope you all are able to get outside and enjoy it, even if it's just a walk.

Good afternoon,

Not quite 3pm yet feels both timeless and once more later. Dad and I have enjoyed a quiet Thursday together. Very thankful to God extra that dad did stay home today. He’s resting right now. He did have a frozen pizza last night for dinner because it was cool enough to use the oven briefly. I think it may have sat too heavy for him either that and/or the booster just upset his system a bit. He has taken it easy today for which I am so grateful for. He needs to stay home a lot more often. He’s doing fine otherwise, so thankful. And always, my sincere thank you to each of you for your loving prayers for both dad and I always. We did start watching Destined at Christmas and have enjoyed the first half hour so far. We both agreed that it was odd that while sharing about his daughter, whose name we later learn is Ashley, Theo never divulges her name to Kim. The other thing that jumped out to me, was when Theo and Kim discussed their upcoming after Thanksgiving plans, sharing planned Christmas related activities including Christmas Eve, neither of them mentioned church. We shall see how that ends up and lol if Theo ever tells Kim Ashley's name. At least the premise of the movie (two strangers meeting while doing Black Friday shopping) was new.

Oh, I also loved that Theo and Ashley create a gingerbread house as a tradition and for a contest, too. Reminded me to share that with dad that I would love for us to create one this year together. Not an edible house, though lol, he might enjoy sampling that, not me at all. Pre pandemic, my friend, Sara and I were going to build an edible gingerbread house. Here's hoping one day we will get to do that and hey maybe dad can help. Dad and I are thinking this year, more along the line of a house either made of heavy plastic or some type of wood, just not foam because that is not very durable or lasting. Could be an actual house/part village church something that we spent time crafting together. I'll share how we enjoy the movie as a whole and of course a picture of any house dad and I may make, too.

:grouphug:Taz and how thankful to God extra I am to hear Jim is home and already walked your dog, too. Good for him! Ella is simply blessed to have you in general, cheering her on in loving support through her life.

What a nice coat, Lynn, thank you for sharing! Great and smart way to use your Super Cash 🛍️

AuntieMe3, what a blessing to have two friends in your life for so long. Would the hair stylist please come cut my hair? :) So glad you enjoyed your dinner together as well. Thank you so much on the bowl. When I have gotten the refund on the bigger 🥣 that I returned, I’ll go from there as far as thinking about a new replacement. Small part of me that still wants to try the narrow rim bowl but I’d need to find someone to give me something for the small bowl first. I may also still just donate that one which is what I would love to do just, admittedly, could very much use some money back for it as well. Blessed to have choices that is for sure.

Here’s hoping your Thursday has turned out bright, Snowysmom🌸

How are you doing, dear Kirby? Thinking of you and of course keeping your son in 🙏 as well.

Not able to eat cereal anymore (too much chewing—TMJ issues) but I do remember when I was younger also enjoying a cereal snack, Maple Moose. I hope you enjoyed your 🥣 of Frosted Mini Wheats last night.

Easyas, you should go with your husband and meet Lynn! Wow you are a busy family indeed. Please do get some extra rest 🛌 tonight and tell your pup to do the same! Thank you on my dad.

Good morning. It is 39 degrees here now. Yesterday I had my balcony door open to get in the nice fresh air. Not today! I will walk around 8 after starting work. I am not a fan of having to change routines but the dark mornings make it necessary. I don't want to meet a coyote! I have to do grocery shopping after work. Not looking forward to seeing how the prices have gone up. It seems like that is all they do. I am thankful to have the farm stand near me. Their produce prices are reasonable for these times and I can get my produce for under $20.

Have a good day.

Happy Friday! :yay:

Glad the end of grass cutting season is coming to an end. I see that a lot of you folks are doing one final cut this week. I'm waiting until next week. Once I take the Halloween decorations down in the yard then I'll do one final cut.

And Wednesday we finally leave for our trip to Europe that we have had to put off for the past 2 years.
Hopefully you'll post some pictures during your trip. I think we would all love to see where you've been each day.

Yum! I picked up some BooBerry for the kids but I haven't been brave enough to try it . . . yet.
BooBerry is my 2nd favorite of the monster cereals.👻

I just bought myself a new coat too
Cute coat! I love the color and how it's long enough to cover the butt. I always have to have a hood on my coats.

I haven't seen last night's yet, so I have no idea who left yet.
Wait until you see what happened with the positive COVID result. I wasn't happy.>:(

We do have a small postal sub station inside a Pharmacare, and if I need stamps I just stop in there.
We have one of these inside of a little hardware store up the street from me. This is where I go if I need something from the post office. I hate going to the normal post office, there is always such a long line.

That's it for me, have a great day and weekend!

Good morning ☀️

Happy to see another sunny day today, even though it's "wicked chilly." That bunch of rainy days in a row was getting to everyone here!

I love the talk about the monster cereals! We used to get them when I was little, and I had a friend who loved the Boo-Berry one so much my dad started calling her that as a nickname. Last year I found a box of all three mixed and bought it for old time's sake.

No huge plans for today. My usual Friday morning is a slow start, because I linger over my coffee and watch Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy that I DVR the night before, so I'm just now out with the cat. I'm thinking of making beef stew in the crock pot later, and I need to pay some bills and do a bit of cleaning.

@footballmouse I like your coat!

Here in Cape May, it’s a cooler morning, 51° but still in the range that the pond fish can be fed. The birds who come to feeder are changing, I have seen a goldfinch with winter colors.

I read talk here about store prices, and yes, they are rising so quickly. At around $5 a rotisserie chicken was perfect for a meal for us, a Jesus meal for the outreach that feeds the needy lunchor microwaveable meals for families, and left overs even for Gus and a smaller meal one of us. Well, the price is over $8 now, even with digital coupon. We are not on fixed income, but the money we had saved is going a lot quicker now.

Our happy news is that Tom came along on a smaller bike ride with me yesterday. His knee is healing and working as it should!

I hope it’s a good day for all who post here.

I wasn't very happy with that either. But I guess they have to be safe, rather than sorry, and have all the other teams get it too.

Good Friday morning. Frosty 33 degrees outside, and only going to 59. I think I am may let the yardwork go until Sunday. Or next Wednesday when it's supposed to be 70. I should have done it yesterday, but I am still waiting for one large maple tree to let go of the rest of it's leaves. I hate leaving them on the ground, makes the yard look messy. Sometimes I rake them into huge piles, put them on tarps and drag them to the garden to let them deteriorate in there, but my back is saying that's not a good idea this year.

@bobbiwoz --great update on Tom--so glad that his knee is healing well!
@easyas123 --I hope you have a wonderful European trip. We don't expect you to check in often, but if you could just post a few pictures, so we could be on your adventure with you, we would all love it! Safe travels!

No plans for the day yet. First I have to sit and watch Greys and Station 19. That's my Friday morning must do, as it is for @PollyannaMom
I am not a baseball fan, but I am glad the World Series is next week, so we can catch up on some shows, while the other stations are showing a lot of repeats.

I think I jinxed myself the other day by saying the spam calls had just about stopped. The second phone call on the new phone yesterday was some 'diabetic center', (noone here is diabetic), I told them to put me on their DNC list, and they were the first addition to the call blocking feature on the new phone, lol.

Have a wonderful morning!

Good morning! There was a significant chill in the air (37F this morning at breakfast) :cold: and I have been looking for ways to ease into the cold-weather season. I combined some clementine peels along with a cinnamon stick and have that simmering away in a small 2-quart slow cooker. My house has a wonderful cozy autumn smell. I'm sure a candle would be easier 🕯️ but I tend to get migraines with artificially scented products.

Thank you for sharing photos of the coats you purchased @lynxstch and @footballmouse . I've been browsing online for a winter coat and I have a trip planned to the outlets next week. Several years ago I bought an LLBean coat on clearance. Although it is well-made I find it too bulky for me. This time I'd rather try something a bit more fitted.

Safe travels @easyas123 and enjoy your trip! I'd love to see some photos of your adventures and read a trip report when you return. ✈️

Wishing @easyas123 a wonderful trip and I agree, some pictures would be nice if she’s able!

I liked the new jackets! Which reminds me, my new Frye boots were oiled up but I still have to do the new Uggs before I wear them. The spray came in the mail so I will do that today.

About to start a work stretch so I’ll be reading but probably not posting much.

Glad taz’s husband’s procedure went well yesterday. Mine had a procedure yesterday, too, and thankfully it went well, too. Hopefully that’s it for a while now.

DS picked up an OT shift overnight and he is sleeping today instead of golfing on his day off. Well, make some money and save some money.

Funny dog story: I bought the dogs each jackets for the rain , it’s been so wet here. (I happened to see them in Aldi’s.) I’m sure it was Grady’s first time with a jacket on. (New rescue dog for anyone who doesn’t know.) He wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, it was sort of like when you put shoes on a dog and they walk funny - he was twirling around and trying to sniff it, lol. But then when he was out running, the front part opened up and slipped down to around his waist, and he was running around with it that way. 🤣 (He can be quite goofy!) I fixed it once and it happened again, so I just left it. When I went to take it off I tried sliding it off his butt area and the strap must’ve hit is male anatomy and he let out a shriek, you would’ve thought I was killing him! :scared1: So I said, “Whoops, sorry!” and un-velcro’d it to get it off. When I put him in the car I threw the jacket in next to him. Toto was still wearing his, nice and clean, and there was Grady’s all crumpled up and muddy! I’m not sure we’ll get very far next time trying to get him to wear it again, but we’ll see!

DD made dinner last night, it was marinated grilled chicken and some sort of orzo with garlic and spinach which we all really liked. I hadn’t slept well the night before with all that was going on so I was tired yesterday. Thankfully I slept pretty well last night. Weather here was cold and dark this morning, now it’s a little sunnier. Two days ago it was really foggy. Yard has wet leaves are all over the place, we’ll have to try to clean those up soon. (DS uses a thing on our mower to suck them up.) Snapped the third picture on the highway yesterday, trees were looking so pretty - soon many will be bare.

Wishing everyone a nice Friday! 🐥

How are you doing, dear Kirby? Thinking of you and of course keeping your son in 🙏 as well.
I'm holding up pretty well. I pray a lot, keeps me grounded. Seeing DS's name on the church prayer list this morning was hard. He did give us a little more news yesterday but I honestly can't explain what he said. It's just not great news. We will get through this. Just waiting patiently until Tuesday for his doctor appointment.

As for DD, she has a phone appointment with her attorney at 12:30 pm today. Trying not to be anxious about that. Just wanting to hear that things are progressing in a good direction. Her ex has been mostly quiet for the last two months but he was back up to his old tricks this last weekend.
Forgot to post my new coat. It came from Kohl's and it's a plum color. I'll wear it when running around, usually with leggings or sweats. I have a dressier coat for work.

Nice coat! Beautiful color. I bought a coat on LandsEnd the other day, just waiting to be delivered. It looks lightweight to me which is what I want. No reason to have a heavy coat here unless you work outside or are outside a lot.
coat.jpg
I bought this long sweater from Women Within last year and absolutely love it. It goes down to mid thigh, couldn't get the whole picture for you. It's a little heavy but works great instead of a coat for me.

I caught up on Survivor and Grey's last night. Wasn't sad to see the person on Survivor get voted out.

That's good to hear!

Good to hear too!

We're in the 50/60's all day with rain. We need it.

That's the one thing I miss about New England the most--the Fall foliage--Thanks for sharing!
I wasn’t exactly sure if other parts of the US get fall foliage, too. I thought I’d seen some pics from down your way that surprised me.

@Kirby I know how hard it is to wait to get that news. I actually started the Breast Cancer Survivors thread here way back when (2005) not just to commiserate with others going through a cancer experience, but to give support to those who were waiting for results (which turned out to be a big part of the thread, since waiting and worrying is one of the hardest parts). Praying for your DS. 🙏🏻 My best advice as both a cancer survivor and a health professional, is to go to the absolute best cancer hospital in your area for evaluation, or at minimum a second opinion, etc., if he gets a cancer diagnosis. You never want to say “I wish we’d done [such and such], but we didn’t know”. Hang in there. :grouphug:
