Good afternoon.

Today DH and I went to the bank where I was able to get a new debit card printed while I waited. He could not because he didn't have any ID. He ordered a new DL online and paid to have it expedited. I got us some cash from the ATM. Then we went to a local Amish farm stand and got corn, tomatoes, and green beans. After that, we headed to Kohls to get him a new wallet.

He did not want to wait to start replacing things because we leave in 3 weeks from today for WDW. I will of course let you know if it shoes up. He has Apple wallet on his phone but can't use it because he reported the linked card missing.

Ds1 & DIL closed on their house yesterday
:banana:How exciting. DD and DSIL have closing on selling their first house tomorrow.

Finally picked 3 good size 'Lemon Boy' tomatoes this morning
Of my 2 tomato plants, that is the one still thriving. I really like the taste of those.
I'm still looking for $400 in cash in my house.
I think we are all guilty of finding things somewhere so safe even we can't find it again. My mother was famous for stashing things away. I had to check every pocket and every shoe box when she passed away. I was expecting to hit a jackpot but came up with only one or two dollars.

Made brown butter this morning, which has to cool, so I can make cookie dough this afternoon, which also has to coll. Then will bake cookies tomorrow.

My brothers found almost $3000 in cash and a number of checks in my Mom's house when she passed. Money was everywhere. She was by no means well off, mostly just getting by but had started to receive an unexpected pension when my father died that was tied to her first husband. My older brother discovered this for her, so having the extra money she just cashed the checks (no direct deposit for her in the 80ties and 90ties) and stuffed the money here and there, and occasionally some of it would make it to her bank account.

The last 6 months of her life she was hospitalized, and the year or so before that she had full-time-in-home caretakers, while this money thing was going on. Obviously they were wonderfully honest people as she declined in mental capacity over that time.

Brown butter chocolate chip DD uses SallysBakingAddiction a lot. These are the BEST chocolate chip cookies. I may never make Toll House again. Now I use that site for any baking. That's where I got my blueberry muffin recipe for last week.

Those cookies look very tasty, Carol! 🍪

Things that are misplaced often do reappear either in the least likely spot soon after we lost them or when we most need to find them. I've shared, right, about my childhood toy monkey?

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon🌸

Just popping by to say hi. I tried to post yesterday but the post reply button or whatever it is wasn't working and then the page refreshed and I lost everything. :sad2:. I dont think it's a board problem but my phone because it's been doing weird stuff on other websites as well as FB. Annoying.

DD tested positive Tuesday morning but I've continued to test negative. I've had some allergy type symptoms but don't feel bad at all. She, on the other hand, started to feel progressively worse as the day went on Tues. She worked from home all day and started to yesterday but couldn't make it through the day. At lunch, she let them know she was taking off the rest of the day. She fell asleep and didn't wake up until late. Ate something, took a shower then she sent a message to take today off as well and went back to bed. Slept all night and she's still sleeping now. Friday is her busiest day so she's hoping with the rest, she'll be up to working(from home, of course) tomorrow.

DH is coming home sooner than expected so he'll be staying up the street at my dad's until he heads back out of town on Sunday.

Thinking of all who are not feeling well or dealing with very difficult situations in life. :grouphug:

Losing wallets is so hard to deal with. It is time consuming and then you have to wait for things to come in the mail. So sorry that happened.

We just had a big rainstorm come by. The rain was coming down like crazy. Now the sun is out and I am sure it is very muggy.

I was in the office today. I like to see the people who do come in. We are out of any office for the next 2 weeks until the new office is ready to go. That will be mid August. One of my very kind coworkers knows I am having a tough time lately. She told me a prayer to say: God, I am doing my best but now I have to give you the rest. I feel like that. I am trying to get through life but it has been hard lately with anniversaries and other days that remind me of Chris and even Jasper. I am doing my best but it is not enough. So, I do hope to get some help.

I took my engagement ring to be sized down. It is a family owned jewelry store and the owners are very nice people. We talked about things for awhile. I had to decide what size to bring the ring down and I had to go between 2 sizes as 6 was too big and 5 1/2 was a bit snug for me. I am glad she gave me the option for an in between size. I have felt like I was going to lose the ring so happy to get it done. They do the work right there at the store so my ring never leaves that store. Now I have to decide if I want to size down my wedding ring or put it with Chris's ring in the ring box. Not ready yet so I will kick that decision down the road.

Tomorrow I work from home and then go out for lunch with a good friend. We have been seeing each other more lately since I moved. It is nice to just chat and have a place to go that is not the 4 walls of the condo. This weekend we will be seeing Joe and on Sunday I am going to ask younger DS if I can come by to see the grandkids. Joe has decided to just talk to a few people on the phone and that is it. He is very tired lately. I don't like to have to ask him questions when we see him but we have to get his financial and apt affairs in order. His car is next on the list.

My arm is sore and a bit swollen from the covid booster. It happens every time I get a vaccination. I raise my arm to grab something and it is so sore. Usually it lasts a week. I am a bit queasy but nothing bad. With the shingles shot my arm was much more sore and for longer so I can't complain about this.

Time for a walk. I have not walked yet today so need to move.

Have a good evening.

The sky is almost pitch black here right now. They say 'storms will continue until 6 pm', but we have had no storm at all..yet. Went to the downtown Farmers market this morning . Got a loaf of Italian bread from the best bakery in town. Got another dozen corn..the vendor I really wanted it from had 2 lines going up the street and starting down the block, and I didn't feel like waiting an hour for the line to go down. Also picked up a dozen Chocolate heath cookies..omg , they are sooo good!
Dinner is going to be hot dogs, summer squash, tomatoes (finally, from our garden) and corn
@Breezy_Carol This is the first year we've tried the lemon boy, and they seem to be producing very well.

I did manage to mow the lawn, then weedwacked, then got out the push mower and did the parts that are too steep for me to try with the tractor. Put the deck cleaning attachment on both mowers and got the undersides cleaned out

Didn't get my nap, but watched Big Brother and The Challenge from last nite. Will just go to bed earlier tonite

@AuntieMe3 --Sorry your daugther still isn't feeling better. Did she get her symptoms under the 5 day window to get meds to help her?

Snowysmom… I think you should wear your ring as long as you want to. I know I will. This is something I never thought about and it kind of took me by surprise.☹️I think I will feel married to DH for a long time.

easyas123… Thank you so much for all the info on cruises, so nice of you!
We have decided to not go on a river cruise right now because they were almost all booked up and there were very few choices. We are instead going on a road trip to Maine, probably rent a house. Anyone with any suggestion of must see or do?
We might look into a river cruise for the spring.

@PollyannaMom That is definitely a good idea to think about. I have so many things going around in my head. I will take a look at some chains at the jewelry store when I go pick up my ring to get an idea how they would look. Thanks.

This is how I wear my Mom's rings. They are slightly small for me and I use a gold chain with them plus another gold charm that represents my father to me. I only wear them to dress up as I don't want to lose them, but in general I don't wear my jewelry much since I retired.

@Snowysmom, I've been fortunate to not be affected by any of my Covid vaccinations. Occasionally a flu shot will make my arm slightly sore for a day or so, the shingles shots did also.

Boy, I don't know what it is, maybe the heat but every day around 2:00 pm I can hardly keep my eyes open. It takes about two hours to go away if I can just push through it, then I am okay. At least I'm getting to bed earlier and not having any trouble getting to sleep now.

I bought some Ranier cherries last week and have just about eaten all of them. They are so good! Usually its hard to find them not already bruised but this bag was perfect!

I went grocery shopping today. Nolan Ryan Angus Chuck Roast was on sale for $3.77 a pound, usually $6.99 a pound. It's come down a little, for a while it was up to $8.00 a pound. Eighteen count large eggs are up to $4.79. I was able to pick up some canned Swanson low sodium chicken broth for .59 each. I also got a BOGO on Sara Lee Butter Bread. DH really likes that. Since the pandemic began, my grocery bill has increased $25 - $50 more a week. DD buys a lot also, mostly specialty stuff for her and the kids like snacks. She also keeps us supplied with lots of fruit and milk. I tend to buy what we need for meals and she handles the rest.

Dinner tonight was spaghetti, Italian salad and garlic/parmesan green beans. The green beans were a new item that DD found in the frozen food section. They were okay but we decided not good enough to purchase again.

I went outside and fought with the new sprinkler. It won. The old oscillating one broke so we bought a new one. They are cheap things. I got wet and never really figured out how it works but after 5 minutes I at least had it putting water on my flowers. Came inside and 5 minutes later it started raining. :rotfl2: ☔🌨️

We just went last September. A must do is Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. We also stayed in a house in York for my niece's wedding. The coast in York and Ogunquit is beautiful. If you like LLBean the Flagship store is in Freeport.

Hi! Today I have enjoyed homegrown tomatoes and cucumber with Wishbone Italian dressing, and it’s the first food I’ve been able to taste since tested positive July 19. I am getting better.

Tom and I haven’t worn wedding bands for most of our 54 years. They are sitting in my jewelry box with my engagement ring.

DH hasn't worn his wedding ring but a couple of times. The kind of work that he does prevents him from wearing jewelry. I used to wear my wedding set all the time. I stopped wearing my engagement ring first because the setting sat too high and I would catch it on things. Then I began just wearing my wedding ring during the colder months because my fingers swell during the warmer months. Now I rarely wear it at all even when it's cold. I don't wear jewelry anyway, my watch is my jewelry.

Hello fellow Quackers. One of these days I will hopefully be able to post that something in a positive manner has happened during my day. Today is not that day. My youngest daughter is spending her first night with her dad since we moved out. He bought her a ton of new toys and stuff for her room. This is the daughter he has barley paid attention to for her whole life. Now she doesn't think her dad is so bad anymore. I know he's buying her love and she's a kid who doesn't know any different and she does love him, but I'm so angry and sad. Angry he is buying her love and sad because he just is so different and being such a jerk. He knows that it's just stab in my heart. I am once again shattered. My oldest daughter is LIVID as she can see right through it. She told me that he and his mom have brainwashed her. She is not wrong. She also called him and the rest of his family lying psychos. She's not really wrong on that either. Of course I tell her that he is their father and he loves them. She isn't buying it right now. She has so much anger. She needs time. Please keep praying for all my kids.

I am def. interested in trying the brown butter cookies. Maybe tomorrow to distract myself from all that is going on. While I am in hopes to hear something on a ruling tomorrow I am also petrified as what it will say. I am worried because it is taking so long.
@Kirby food prices are insane. I need to make a meal plan and find some new recipes. I think we have done something similar before and I know there is a "what's for dinner thread" but here is a

QUESTION OF THE DAY...Please name 1 or 2 of your fave. "go to" easy recipes. And when I say easy, please assume I have less skills in the kitchen than most 5 year olds. THANKS!

@Snowysmom I like the idea of wearing the rings on a chain. I know a couple of people who have done this. Sending continued prayers your way.
@AuntieMe3 Sending prayers and quick healing vibes to your daughter and hoping you continue to not feel bad.
@dazedx3 Sending you extra prayers also. A roadtrip to Maine sound like a great idea. I have never been to Maine, but it's def. a place I'd like to visit.

Don't know much else at this point. Hoping everyone has good rest.
