Happy Thursday morning! :flower1:

Rained all night and into this morning. Luckily by the time I left for work it had stopped. I don't even want to go in my basement. Ds3 said it should be fine, we'll see.

Was planning to hit the mall yesterday after work but it was raining so hard, I just wanted to go home, didn't really need to buy anything anyway. Ds3 and I ordered a pizza and I watched Survivor.

Pea-n-Me nice pictures of the horse ranch. I would love to get over there next time I'm at WDW, I know Ds3 would love it. When the boys were younger, they would go away to camp in Kentucky for a week and there was an option to add different activities for your camper. Ds3 always asked to add the horse camp on for the week. Even though all the campers visited the horses during their week (maybe once), since I added it on for Ds3 he was able to visit the horses every day. He became attached to Jericho and when we went back the next year for the open house, the first thing we did was go see the horses and he was on a mission to find Jericho (he did).

Baking some shrimp tonight for dinner. It's a favorite so I'm sure there won't be any leftovers. Hope everyone has a good rest of the day!

Hey! I was by there yesterday afternoon! It's so peaceful down Island Creek & Lands End Roads...my acupuncturist is just down the road from the retreat entrance. As of now - 8:15 AM - the wind has picked up, sky is bright towards Dover, dark towards the western shore. The rain, it's coming. Safe travels!

Perhaps he can make some recommendations for your husband to get back to a more normal sleep schedule, maybe some cognitive behavior practices or new habits or ways to combat his off sleep schedule? Has he considered returning to his bed to sleep or trying not to nap later in the day? Maybe a little more activity during the day, or something that engages his brain that isn't TV, such as reading or a puzzle or a game? Or maybe give him a chore or two to do around the house, get him back into a day -to-day routine of a bit of what he was doing prior to his hospitalization? A return to a old hobby or perhaps a new one? Or maybe there is a goal he can try to work towards? Being able to drive again? Maybe he'd like to get out of the house, go out for lunch or make a trip to the library or a park for a change of scenery? Maybe he just needs a different motivation? Does he want to travel again- that might be a motivator? Or maybe just a bit of tough love on your end about his sleep habits and daily schedule. I'm no expert - I'm just thinking aloud of ideas if I was in the situation.

He needs all of the above..except the chores,,lol. He hasn't done a chore around the house in 5 years. His old hobby was woodworking, but that was in the cellar, and he can't manage all the steps again. He still hasn't been cleared to drive yet either. He still hasn't tried sleeping in the bed, no idea why. And yes he does need more activity during the day. I tried turning the tv on, giving him the newspaper crosswords and a puzzle book, along with a coloring book and pencils, but he's not too keen on those yet. One of the other managers from work brought him a wood burning kit,, I may bring that out tomorrow and see if he wants to try making a sign or something. Library is out..ours is closed for renovation and they aren't letting people into all of the smaller branches. It seems that after he does his exercises,,or PT has been here,,that he gets super tired, and needs a nap. Matt isn't coming till 2 today, so that means a later nap..but I am trying a lot of what you have said..thanks again for your input,,it really is appreciated (by me, if not Mr L!)

Well good morning everyone. Waiting for the rain & storms to arrive. Husband put the AC back on yesterday, it wasn't that it was super hot but it was super humid. HOPEFULLY when we turn it off today that is it for the year. I really enjoy this time of year when we are able to be without AC or heat on, and enjoy the lower electric bill, too! I have a meeting this afternoon that I'm waiting to hear about, since it's going to be raining a fair bit in that area this afternoon they might send everyone home (jobsite), so I'm in a wait & see pattern.

Dinner this evening will be stuffed peppers. I actually pre-made them several weeks ago and froze them. I wanted to see how they held up and cooked up after being frozen.

Sorry, anything related to peppers makes me sick to my stomach..can't stand peppers in any form,,but I hope you enjoy your stuffed ones,,lol!

Time to get this morning started -

Thank you! Sounds like he’d really enjoy it! They have both horse and pony rides. (Horse rides are near the front entrance; pony rides at the ranch, down by Settlement/Hoop De Doo area.) They also do carriage rides, but I think they were on hold for a while. They were taking the horses around the Fort, though, to get them ready for carriage rides again, so they must be starting up soon. Seeing the horses there and the displays and video, puts a whole new perspective on seeing the horses in the parks. So cool. They do seem to have the Life of Reilly at the ranch. We got wet standing near a pen on a dry day, realized they had a mist coming down to cool the horses. 👍🏻 Lucky to be a Disney horse!

Adding more horse pics for @footballmouse

One thing I never realized (as I said, I’m a city girl), is that people around horses in the parks really need to be trained in horses. Even those walking beside them in uniforms. Sounds silly, but not something I ever really thought about before. Was talking to some of the ranch hands about it. Always loved the headless horseman at MNSSHP. I can’t remember what that horse’s name was, though, and didn’t ask about him. Things can get dangerous. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/tra...-disney-headless-horseman-20121010-story.html

I've been telling him that he should look into that for a job, he's 20, no girlfriend, still living at home, but then I thought I read that they hire females which seemed odd to me. These jobs are probably hard to get.
I asked about it (not for myself, lol, but curious what it takes to work there) and one girl told me she only had a few years of working with horses. Maybe they have some sort of step-up program as one gets more experience. He should definitely go for it!

Good Morning Quackers,

I am so grateful to God for the extra sleep He gave me! I woke up as usual around 4:30, was up on/off until 5 and then slept until after 7:30! Lovely Blessing. Hug, Lynn, I'm just glad anytime you get some rest. I loved Easyas' suggestions for your DH!

So nice to also see this morning a lot of extra posts! I'm not a horse person (don't know much of anything about them other than carousels can be fun and I have enjoyed a kid's series called My Secret Unicorn)) but all the pictures Pea, are lovely. The horses look well cared for, too. Footballmouse, I hope your son does look into the ranch hand job, sounds like that would be a good fit for him.

Still very warm here. Does not feel like Fall in the least other than it is slowly getting darker a little earlier.

I will check back later 🌸

Slipping thread will never do!

I am so happy and relieved to know that all my Christmas packages and envelopes that had to be weighed other than 2 last packages that will be sent next week, have been mailed! Yay!

Dad brought my car over to a local mechanic just 3 blocks away because the tire pressure warning light was on. The tires felt perfectly hard. This same thing happened 2 years ago and it just needed to be reset--which was all that was needed this time. Dad explained that the car has barely been driven over the last year and a half. The mechanic was so kind to even check under the hood and said the oil and everything still is perfectly clean (the car had an oil change in January, 2020) Best of all we now have a new very close by mechanic. Dad had been going to for years a different place also, only a few blocks away that has since moved to further out area--that is just not worth driving too! Plus, extra now during the pandemic, the convenience of (if needed) being able to leave the car and walk home is priceless. Good 🚗 report all-around.

Wishing all of you, a good afternoon! :)

It might be 64 degrees outside,,but there is a stiff cool wind blowing. Enough so that I had to close the windows and turn the ceiling fans off. Mr L says 'turn the heat on' , and I said not when it's 64 degrees outside, lol

Matt was here and really worked him hard today. Walking with his cane and no oxygen most of the time. He comes one more time next Tuesday and then Jane comes to discharge him on Thursday. Mr L has the option of out patient rehab, but chooses not to, at least not at this time. He feels strong enough now without it.

Sister and law and niece just picked up my grocery list and went to Aldi's and Walmart. My back is just aching too much and I don't think I could make it thru the stores today. I managed to do 3 loads of laundry, 2 of dishes, and walked across the street to the mailbox to get the mail. Back brace came,,but I have to figure out how to adjust it so it helps my back but doesn't bother my stomach.

Have a nice rest of the afternoon

Or maybe give him a chore or two to do around the house,
I used to give my patients simple chores like to pair the socks out of the laundry or fold the towels. Gave them something to feel accomplished rather than just exercising with no purpose. Or husking corn, peeling potatoes, Things that can be done sitting.

LOL this one made me laugh. I let him fold towels,,but anything else, forget it. He just rolls it in a ball and calls it folded!

The class I posted about was a lot of fun! It was an acrylic pouring technique.

(Nutshell version - we layered paint in a cup, flipped the canvas over on top, then flipped it back, lifted the cup, and tilted the canvas around to cover it.)

This is how mine came out:

Pardon the silver tray - it was still wet when I took the photo.

Work day ended up being a no go. We got down to camp (1hour and 10 minute drive) with about 11 other folk. The rain started coming down in buckets with thunder and lightning, and due to several reasons, the work day was basically cancelled. We could have stayed for fellowship and games but chose to come home. I did go to church for a Bible study I was missing to go and DH and I cleaned house. We are going to drive back tomorrow and work until lunch time.

While I love my sister in law and niece to death..it was 2:00 when they picked up my list. It was 7 items at aldi's and a bunch at Walmart. Its almost 6:30 and they just now checked out of Walmart and are on their way here with my stuff, lol! Who on earth takes that long to shop???

So glad your shopping did get done at long lost, Lynn. ITA that is an awfully long time for just 2 places unless they went to others or really took the scenic route through the stores! Post pandemic, the first time I am truly able to go into a store, I just might do myself, lol. So, proud of Mr. L! LOL to his folding skills. I did think Carol had a great idea and maybe there is something non laundry he can do....like set the table or something like that. Just a routine thing for him that can be a positive daily thing for him that also helps you! :)

:hug:Carol, just glad you are safe!

Wow, great job, Pollyannamom! So glad you enjoyed your class :)

Dad and I are so thankful the handyman fixed the hot water 💧 to our building. We have not had any all day. Praise God! Warm water sure is an extra Blessing, even more than normal, during a pandemic!

DD and I had a great time at Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure Tuesday evening. We had a hotel across the street so after we checked in we took our time before heading to the party. It was HOT and felt really steamy...yuck. We got in about 5:30 and ate some food. Then we enjoyed the rides and fun treat trails....got a ton of candy and treats...goldfish, Graham crackers, popcorn, grapes, carrots, apple slices, even some of those applesauce pouches. They gave a little bag for trick or treating and from past parties, I knew we could use a bigger bag to combine our stuff when the little bags filled up so I brought a Target grocery bag and filled it up.

DD dressed as Alice and I was the Queen of Hearts. DD doesn't like for me to share her pics but I figured this one hides her face enough with the mask...lol Shh don't tell her I posted. :poop::laughing: She got a cute blue dress and an apron that was perfect. I just wore a red tshirt with a black and red tulle tutu over some black Capri pants, with my little teeny crown I made. Everyone loved the crown.

The only depressing thing was it was so hot we really weren't in the mood for snacking and we were really looking forward to those snacks. LoL We wanted a popcorn and churro to take back to our room and by the end of the night every little cart was already closed....I was so bummed.

The next morning I ended up going to Downtown Disney and raided the candy shop...we got lots of goodies to bring home. Some pics of the cookies and also 2 bags of toffee they make there...its so good.

My sister and I have decided we should take my niece again to Disneyland at Christmas so we're playing on beginning of Dec. DD and her best friend will join us too so that's fun to look forward to. When I get that ticket, I'll be thinking hard about getting a pass again. I feel like one ticket is such a waste if I don't put it towards a pass. We'll see though.

Ok off to see what I missed...hope everyone has a good night.

Sounds like one of my excursions. 🤣
