@Bianca and Bernard I hope your ankle feels better. You had better take it easy on it before your trip, or you will end up not being able to walk around and enjoy everything! Already warming up outside. Just weedwacked inside the garden fence, I forgot that I didn't get to it yesterday. Filled the feeders and the birdbaths and gave the outside cats fresh cold water. That's it for outside for me except for going across the street to get the mail and to give cold water to the cats a few times during the day.

Good Morning Quacker Friends

Aww, that was a cute good night, PollyannaMom :)

Sparkle, Mint Oreo sounds good to me! Signature Select (Pavilions) used to make Mint Cookie Crumble. That was the flavor my friend Christi made my ice cream sandwich cake out of years ago.

QOTD: favorite big city to visit on the East coast, Midwest, West coast ?? :) One day I will definitely visit Anaheim (an hour or less depending on traffic from me) Not a big city but I very much enjoyed a WA/OR trip my Dad and I took back in 2007 or 2008. In years past I have also enjoyed San Diego and SF. I was born on the East Coast (moved here to CA as a baby) and since have only been to PA once at age 6, no real memory of it.

Great words of wisdom from Mickey, Lynn. Hooray for you enjoying a do nothing day! Homemade pizza also sounds good :)

Hug, B&B feel better.

Hugs to all and Happy Saturday, too!

Favorite ice cream. For home I like Peppermint stick. Edy's makes a light version around the holidays which is delicious. IF we go out for ice cream I like purple cow (raspberry frozen yogurt with chocolate chips and little truffles in it) or coffee soft serve. DH saw coffee soft serve advertised at one of our ice cream places so we may head there this weekend for a treat.

Favorite big city: I live near Boston, my kids went to school in Boston but I am not really a fan. I have been to all the usual touristy areas and other places. I prefer the suburbs. I liked NYC when younger DS lived there for 6 months. DH and I would go stay with him one weekend a month and go places likes Central Park, Times Square, the Guggenheim, and we saw the Christmas tree. The whole family (pre grandkids) moved in younger DS and spent 3 days touring NYC. We went to the statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center and went to the Top of the Rock, saw Little Italy, Chinatown, and other places. I don't think I would go back now as it is not the same being a bit more crime going on now. In 2010 it was a great place to go. Even DH did not mind driving in NYC. He hates driving in Boston.

We watched older DGD play soccer this morning. It is all kindergarten age kids. It was fun watching them learn the basics of soccer and then they played a little game at the end. So much fun!

It is around 90 here to day and so hot. Jasper got groomed and his fur is really short. He looks nice and cool now. He also looks like he feels better without the long fur and eye goo.

Happy Saturday.

Just a drive-by while DH continues to fight with the new window AC for our bedroom... :rolleyes2

Josh is very honored to have inspired a QOTD! My favorite store-bought is Turkey Hill. I have about 5 containers in the freezer right now - of course, Josh is helping to eat them. At the moment, my favorite flavor is the seasonal Strawberry Marshmallow. I generally like the chocolate ones - chocolate marshmallow, chocolate peanut butter, Double Dunker, etc. and my favorite non-vanilla flavor is the Salted Caramel. I swear I had a chocolate salted caramel once that I never found again, and a few years back they had one that was just like a lemon meringue pie.

But that still isn't as good as the homemade ice cream at Collins Creamery right up the street from us! All of the flavors are awesome. Josh's favorite is the carrot cake - seriously. It tastes EXACTLY like a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Favorite cities - I guess for East Coast, I'd have to say Tampa and Orlando, Florida. Not necessarily the actual cities, though, but all the fun stuff around them. Boston is okay. I last went there in June 2008 with my cousin. We walked the entire Freedom Trail one day - nice 6-hour walk, seeing most of the historic stuff (we spent at least one full hour in the Granary Burial Ground) and had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe (of course). The next day we went to Harvard and then to the JFK Library. Had dinner at Cheers one night - on the outside, it does look just on the TV show, but the inside is completely different (which we knew).

Midwest, the only large city I've visited is Chicago. I haven't been out west yet; the farthest I've gotten is Las Vegas, which actually was quite nice! We went for our honeymoon and found PLENTY to do without gambling at all. I couldn't get over how it was 90 degrees, but didn't feel like it because there was no humidity. My only complaints were all the people in the hotels who try to sell you "free" tickets to stuff, but that aren't really free because you have to buy stuff you don't want (just like the old time-share spiel) and the people every couple of feet on the sidewalk who try to hand flyers and business cards of...um, "ladies of a particular profession" to every single man they see walking by. They would even step right into my path and reach right across me to try to give them to DH :sad2:

So Josh had his baseball game this morning and did well! They played 3 "innings" this time because they were done with 2 in only 30 minutes. They played his friend Harper's team. I've got a little issue about Harper right now...a few days ago, Josh told my mom and I that when he had that sleepover a few months ago, Harper did something questionable to him. But he said it so matter-of-factly, he didn't seem bothered by it, and he said he still wants to be friends and go to their house, so I don't know what to do. We're going for Harper's birthday in a few weeks, but I'm afraid of him getting invited for another sleepover soon.

My BIL and SIL came to the game today, too. I got some new Color Street from SIL and I'm excited, but my nails still look good from last week! I don't want to waste it!

Jasper is all set for Summer, Snowysmom :) Glad you got to enjoy watching your DGD play soccer ⚽

Good to see another post from you, Apirateslifeforme. I think for such young children 2-3 innings is a perfect length of baseball game ⚾ Yum to chocolate ice cream. I used to always get from a local frozen yogurt place by church (sadly I think it is out of business due to the pandemic) their vanilla, it was real fresh and sweet with hot fudge on top--so good! Uh oh. Prayers on Josh and Harper and an extra hug to you because it sounds like an uneasy situation to be in.

Quiet Saturday here which is nice. Have a great afternoon, friends.

Good Afternoon everyone.

Spending a quiet day doing nothing here other than organizing my ancestry notes. Trying to decide dinner but I think it may be some DiGiorno frozen single serve pizzas. I have no energy today.

The 2 QOTD's are very interesting

Favorite Cities - East Coast: I have been up and down the east coast but I would have to say the city I live in is my favorite. Philadelphia and the surrounding areas offer so much history, art and nature that I love living here. Other than Philly I had to think hard. I love Wildwood NJ for the beach and it holds so many wonderful memories of my grandmother. For History I loved Williamsburg VA. For anything else I would have to choose the Orlando area just because Disney is there.

Midwest - I have only been to Indiana to visit a friend that I met here on the DIS boards. I liked the Lafayette IN area where she lived. It reminded me a lot of the Lancaster area here in PA.

West Coast - I haven't gotten there yet although when I was much younger I really wanted to move to LA.

Ice Cream: My absolute favorite is Black Walnut and it is almost impossible to find. I had it years ago at a small ice cream shop and fell in love.

There is a Gelati place near me that makes a Whiskey Ice Cream. I LOVE it especially when he makes the Espresso flavor, It's like having an Irish Coffee.

Any other places I opt for Mint Chocolate Chip, Pistachio, Butter Pecan or Maple Walnut. I'm not much for plain flavors.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

This thread was on page 3 of the the what is new and that my friends will just not do.

Will post more later but it looks like I get to go deal with heat stroke while I finish cleaning out the fridge on the deck so it can get moved. So not looking forward to either one.

Plans to leave and run to the smaller town a little after 8 so I have time to stop by Tractor Supply and pick up some cat food for the cats. Luckily they will load it for me in the trunk of my car. Then down the road a bit to walmart to pick up a graduation card for neice and a few other things.

Hopefully I can find some Huckleberry ice cream to reward myself with if not will have to look for some moose tracks.

Back in the hotel after the bridal shower. Had a nice time and got to visit with my brother some after. The bride to be got a lot of nice gifts and there was a lot of food. We even brought left overs to the hotel to reheat for dinner.

This morning we went to Dinosaur State Park before the shower. I had no idea there were real dinosaur fossils in CT. It was very nice.

Plan to swim in the hotel pool tomorrow before check out then head home. Sent DH to the grocery so we can have a cookout with DD and the rest of her family tomorrow night. Will give them a chance to experience cicadas.

I am taking the easy way out. Made a lot of quotes and will comment.

Greetings from rainy, muggy CT
I am in hot Bristol, CT this weekend.

Tara and her love of Doritos!
I loved the visual of Tara with orange dorito dust.

the K9 officers
That sounded really fun and educational.

invitation-only class
Good for Josh and gymnastics.

Today's QOTD is Josh-inspired! What is the best ice cream flavor?
Like @easyas123 said, UDCreamery is so good. I like their Ton of Toffee and Caramel Macchiato, but they have lots of good flavors. For store bought, Turkey Hill Stuff’d Moose Tracks or Double Dunker. And at Christmas, Friendly‘s peppermint.

the cicada's are louder than I have ever heard them.
I expect with the heat they’ll be loud when I get home.

Yuengling makes ice cream!?!
I’ve had it too. Redners used to carry it.

QOTD: favorite big city to visit on the East coast, Midwest, West coast ?
I grew up in a suburb of Baltimore and spent a year in the Bronx for college. Not really a fan of big cities. I do like to visit Washington, DC though. And enjoyed Tampa. I am more of a National Park type.

It was lights out at 9 pm so Tessa would go to sleep so I can’t read my book. At least I have my iPad.

Ice cream: Mint chip or chocolate. Also, I think "Turkey Hill" is such an odd name for an ice cream brand. There is a Christian camp/retreat center near me called "Turkey Hill" also, and they have this great turkey cowboy printed on the bottom of the pool. I was trying to find pictures, but couldn't.

Big Cities: West Coast: really haven't been, but I guess I could say Portland, OR. East Coast: Again, haven't really been to the east coast much, but probably Bangor, Maine. Midwest: If I don't cheat and say my own city... Maybe Nashville. If I can add in mountain states, I'd go with Denver or Salt Lake City, for sure. I always say that if you forced me to move from Missouri, you had better give me a mountain view from my house!

QOTD: favorite big city to visit on the East coast, Midwest, West coast ??
Hmmm, I've been to New York with DD's band when she was in high school and really loved it but I'm not so sure I want to go back. I've been to DC several times and I like the museums there so that would be my fav on the East Coast. Midwest, probably Chicago and West Coast, I've been to Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and San Diego. While I enjoyed my visits there I probably won't go back. I would love to go back to the Oregon Coast though. It's beautiful there! I prefer small to mid size cities/towns for the most part.

Slept in till 8 this morning and goofed around till noon. Then I changed the sheets on our bed and did two loads of laundry, sheets and towels. My comforter is in the dryer as I type because Lou Lou wet on it this evening. Spent the afternoon photographing my mom's knick knacks that my sister and I don't want for the grandkids to pick over. I've numbered the pictures and started entering them in a group text. It was the easiest way to handle it since they all don't live close. I'll start taking pictures of jewelry tomorrow.

Dinner tonight was spaghetti pie and salad.

I love so many types of ice cream, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Anything from Peppermint stick to a soft serve twist! In a twist I love the orange sherbert and vanilla. At home I like the three flavor harlequins even though the family gives me a hard time about it, lol. Brigham’s Vanilla is a staple at home on holidays or special occasions. One thing I don’t like in my ice cream is nuts!

Favorite big cities: Boston, of course. Used to go to NYC a lot but not now; same with San Francisco. My sister lived and was married there. Cleveland is nice, also parts of Wisconsin. Chicago is nice even though we just flew in and drove through.

Had a couple of rough shifts this week. Hospitals are very busy right now. People put things off for a long time due to the pandemic, and in many cases they mushroomed. And still seeing Covid-related problems.

Had BLTs tonight with fresh lettuce from the garden, and Zuppa Toscana soup I had frozen from Olive Garden. (Pardon the Papa Gino’s leftover paper plates!)

Not bad for half dead lettuce plants from WalMart!

They still look good!

Good morning DIS! Very warm outside already at 70, heading for 90 again. Going to close up now and put the ac on, so when hubby wakes up it will be cool in here. I did a walk around the house outside when I fed the outdoor cats, and didn't see any new cicada's hanging on the house or on the tree trunks, but I'm sure they will all appear as soon as the sun starts coming up.

Going to put a texas smokehouse brisket in the crockpot for dinner, and make a pasta salad in a little while. That and watermelon will be our dinner for tonite. I have an angel food cake loaf and will slice up some fresh berries and make shortcake for snack later in the evening.

Watched the Belmont Stakes yesterday. My pick ' Hot Rod Charlie' was in the lead the whole race, until the last couple of lengths, when Essential Quality came from nowwhere and beat him :(. That's it for major races I watch this year, did terrible at picking the winners, lol!

Have a nice morning everyone,,stay cool and @usnuzuloose--what the heck is fried hot dog string? lol!

Good morning. It’s 7:30 and I’m the only one awake. Can’t do much without waking the others.

what the heck is fried hot dog string? lol!
I wondered that also. I asked Mr Google and basically the only thing he said was corn dogs or Korean hot dogs. :confused3

Have a good day everyone.

Bump up. Last thread on P.1

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I straightened up some papers and found a poem my dad wrote for us in 1973 for Children's Day before my youngest brother was even born. My dad was/is a gifted writer. Also found some poems I wrote in college. Trip down memory lane.

Will do some more tomorrow in preparation for trash day. I want to start prepping the downstairs for painting, new flooring and some added electrics. Lots to do this summer.

I have power recliners and we couldn't find the dog yesterday. We could hear her crying though. Thankfully I never fully put the seat in an upright position, she was trapped.

Have a good Sunday
