Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good Monday morning everyone. Its very foggy and 47 outside right now, and I mean very. I can't even see our side yard, lol. Supposed to be 71 and sunny later, so I guess I will have to force myself to mow,,sore knee and sore hip and all. I don't want it getting so tall that I either have to put the bagger on, or risk leaving rows of mulched grass all over the place. They are supposed to come and deliver hubby's portable oxygen concentrator today also,,only 7 months after it was first ordered by his Dr :(.

Watched Idol last nite, I had no idea that one of the 5 finalist had left the competition (Caleb) until I saw only 4 there. I had to look it up online to find out why he left. The final 4 were all so excellent it is really hard to choose who I want to win. Don't want to give spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched it yet,,but the final 3 shocked us, as we thought the other one would be one of the final 2 standing!
Have a nice morning everyone

Morning all!
((huggles)) and sympathies to all who need them.

DH went up to his office yesterday, so he could get his cube all fixed up for his return, but his key fobs wouldn't work on any of the doors. Turns out, the building has locked out access on the weekends, because of deep COVID cleanings on Saturdays. He was mad that he went all that way for nothing, but made the best of it. Went to lunch with DS (who went with him, to help) and they stopped at Publix, and at Duck Donuts. They even brought me home a special one...maple glaze with bacon...

It was still warm, and oh, these were good. The lemon wasn't very lemony though. /shrug

ETA: I walked two miles today, by myself, without stopping*, in 42 minutes. Considering the fact that a month ago, I couldn't do half a mile without stopping 3-4 times, and taking just as long as I did today....I'm pretty happy with this. Tomorrow, I'm going for 2-1/2.
*I stopped twice...once to let cars turn into the parking lot I was passing, and the 2nd because there were 2 ducks fighting on the sidewalk by the pond in our complex. I am not claiming those, as they were involuntary stops...lol

So, I think I can deal with the new haircut and glasses. (Did I mention I got new glasses? I had to get an exam...so did DS; that overachiever has 20/20 vision....just in time, as my old glasses broke last week, and I've been wearing my old old glasses. The new ones are definitely stronger; again, Progressives, and transitions lenses this time.) Before and after shots of the hair/glasses. I would have liked to get smaller frames, but the optician pointed out that using smaller lenses means smaller 'boxes' for the progressives, so harder to use.

Great haircut, it looks fresh and lovely on you! Glasses nice, too. We do what we have to do, right? I recently tried a maple donut with bacon, too. Someone brought them into work. It reminded me of French toast with bacon - rich, but pretty good!

Good Morning with hugs to all!

Always means a lot to me to check in with my Quacker family each new morning :)

Prayers to all dealing with Ebay or other frustrating refund situations! Those are never any fun at all :(

So glad Carter's party went well, Carol :)

It's cool and gray again here this morning, supposed to be a dash warmer (I hope) than yesterday's chill. Dad is out doing Monday morning grocery shopping and also checking out (has not looked since last year) chairs for me at Staples and Office Depot. My current huge chair that offers me no back support (but thankfully will be great fit for Dad) causes me more discomfort :( Needs to be replaced for sure.

Positive Staples related ETA: Wow, good Staples news that Dad just called to tell me. He was there looking for a new chair for me. The handy thing about our closest Staples is that when you come inside you walk down a long ramp into the store. Dad found a possible chair. He explained to the manager John (who I remember from a few years ago. He was so kind then about our current huge chair) that I am not able to wear a mask. John said it would be no problem to wheel the chair right up to the door later so I could sit in it for a minute. That is great and kind service. Wow, lol, I'll get to go to Staples kind of for the first time in a year and a half!

May all of you have a bright Monday!

Wow Mona..you are actually leaving the house and going to Staples..hurray!

I just spent another 20 min on the phone with ebay. The carpet cleaner I bought on Friday..have sent the seller 4 messages and gotten no reponse. Ebay is telling me it's on its way..I said it is not,,there is no shipping information. New seller, 0 feedback, I should know better. He sold 5 of these on Friday, plus 5 big gaming monitors at $540 each. Something smells fishy about the whole thing. Ebay says I can't cancel since they say it's on the way, which its not..that I have to wait till May 29 to file an item not received thing. I said the heck with you ebay, I went to paypal and filed a dispute and asked them to notify the seller to cancel the order and for them to refund my money. Now I just wait and see if the seller contacts them either. I am about ready to never buy on ebay again after the last 2 days..
Its sunny and 68 out, and I am getting outside to mow the lawn. On the plus side for the day..they just delivered the portable oxygen concentrator..only 6 months late, lol!

Great news on the chair shopping, Mona!!

And sorry about everyone’s eBay troubles! We dropped them years ago when DH’s account was hacked (would you believe by someone without an account trying to use his to sell things? - We caught it because they got into the seller profile, but not the PayPal part...so random money was sitting there that the guy couldn’t access. 🤣. We gave it back to the people who sent it.)

The first day of DEAR was a hit! The kids loved “shopping” for books for their bags in the morning, and we are slowly ramping up their stamina with quietly reading/looking at books. (I think the thing they most got a kick out of was that my phone alarm would “randomly” ring to tell us it was time.:rotfl2: )

Thank you all for the Staples support! I truly am so grateful to be able to do this. We will be going there within the hour. I will absolutely share afterwards how the chair works out!

:grouphug:Lynn and Pea and just I am so sorry for both of your hassles! Prayers for MUCH brighter dealings ahead! I'm sorry PollyannaMom to hear you also had a bad Ebay experience. I used Ebay briefly YEARS ago. I remember getting cheated out of payment once even then. Really have to be so careful with any online dealings! :(

LOL, kids are so precious all-around and find amusement in most everything! :)

Have a good afternoon, everyone.

Afternoon all.

I paid for being lazy this weekend. Got the grandsons to school, did the laundry - I go to the laundromat but actually enjoy it, $6, one hour and I am done. So much better than having a washer and dryer. Then I headed to Walmart and found a folding saw, pruning shears and some more plants for outside. Picked up the boys from school, had a disagreement with my mom (she started it),Trimmed the butterfly bush of all the dead branches, got all the weeds out, and chopped down the tree that keeps coming back. I didn't have the energy to turn the garden and do the planting. I have had issues since I was a kid of getting the shakes really bad when I have been sweating and exerting myself to much. I was drenched from the weeding and chopping - the temps hit about 80 and I was in the full sun. Thankfully I had some oranges and that always takes care of the shakes. Usually I drink some orange juice but the orange worked. I also came in out of the sun and had the fan on me full blast so I cooled down. I'll do the planting tomorrow morning before it gets really warm out.

The disagreement with my mom came over my skewed priorities in her opinion. I was supposed to be at a meeting on Zoom with church tonight but my grandson has what is most likely his last game with school for the year. I would rather be at his game, and he actually asked if I would be there. I think I have my priorities just right. I also get to wear my Mothers Day gift. My daughter got me a T-Shirt from her and the boys that has a baseball in the shape of a heart and a bat on it and says, "That's my Grandson Out There." I will be wearing it to their games.

After hearing all the EBay issues I think I am glad I haven't ordered from there in a few years. I did get some great deals on some photo equipment years ago but found a great camera shop near me with used equipment that I like. I may be heading there soon to upgrade my camera and am looking for a new lens with a bit more zoom.

Oh well, I think I will get the laundry away and take a quick shower before dinner. I am leaning towards omelets or hot dogs. Need something quick since the game is at 5:30.

I mowed the entire lawn..looks so nice,,and this time neither of my knees, nor my hip, nor my back are stiff and sore? That's a new one, lol. It is absolutlely perfect outside..74 and a nice little breeze, full sun. I just watered everything in the greenhouse, and all of my planted flowers and pots, filled the birdbaths with fresh cool water, and I am done for the day. Dinner is burgers on the grill and the pasta salad I made this morning (glad I thought ahead, lol).
Have a nice evening everyone @tazdev3225..I agree with you and not your Mother on your priorities..kids are only kids for so long,,enjoy the game!! I hope you had sunscreen and a hat on when out working in the yard!

Happy Monday all...so sorry to hear about all the Ebay/PayPal trouble. As I said earlier, I keep hearing people having PayPal trouble lately. And the last time I used Ebay, I never got what I ordered and the seller(who had a great rating) stopped responding to me, I had to get Ebay involved and finally got my money refunded.

Today is my 24th wedding anniversary...of course my Love is out of town but he told me this morning, he sent me an edible arrangement. He just called a minute ago to see if he had been delivered yet and was pretty ticked Im still waiting for it. He got a notification it was out for delivery at 11am...its only about a mile or two from our house. I know they probably have other deliveries too but he's annoyed I haven't got mine yet. lol He's so cute. We were supposed to spend the weekend at a hotel called The Mission Inn but of course he got pulled away last minute for work so we'll have to plan that for soon. I really got lucky with my hubby, I don't know if I've ever shared before but we only knew each other 5 months when we got married. Things could've gone wrong after that little time but he's the best and every year just keeps getting better and better. ❤

Hopefully I get my delivery soon, I can't wait for some chocolate covered strawberries.

Hooray for being able to go inside Staples for 5 minutes! What a Blessing that was. The last time I was inside a store was Pavilions on Monday 4/6/20! I helped Dad with laundry the next day and that was it :( I had a big smile just walking inside. So thankful to God. Dad had gone inside first, of course, and although the manager was at lunch, whoever was there said it was A-okay for me to come inside. Dad wheeled the chair close and came and got me.

My New Chair In person the lines you see in the picture truly are soft and smooth. I immediately felt so comfortable in it! It's soft, supported my back well, and fit me a hundred times better than this huge uncomfortable chair I am currently sitting in. I went back to our car while Dad paid for the chair. He ultimately decided to bring it home himself because it sounded like we would have had to (to get the one available box inside the store) come home and ordered it online--crazy! A Staples salesman put it in the trunk. Dad is assembling it now. I'll take an actual picture of it later. It was also a good deal. In store it was cheaper than online. Including a 3 year protection plan it was under $120. A lot for us but a bargain on what will I pray be a nice new chair.

:hug:Pea and Lynn, prayers you both have an extra relaxing evening! For sure, you, too Taz Dev. I truly am sorry your Mom chose again to be unkind :( We absolutely support you and are here!

Happy, Happy Anniversary AuntieMe3 to you and your DH! Wishing you both many more plague -free healthy and happy years! Truly God Bless you both. Love the image, Lynn, you are so sweet at always finding such great images. Thank you!

Good evening.

Happy Anniversary AuntieMe3! :cool1::jumping3::banana:

Took a load of stuff left over from the party down to DD's house today. House is starting to get back to normal. Stopped on the way home at the library and hardware store.

Then after lunch, took a 6 mile bike ride along the canal. The bike seat I got 2 weeks ago is too hard and not comfortable. It is going back tomorrow.

Tonight's dinner is hot dog or hamburger on the grill and leftover potato salad, broccoli salad, and deviled eggs. And later, left over cupcakes. DD made chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting. Sooooo good. She uses my trick, box cake mix but homemade frosting. Makes all the difference in the world. I need to get the caramel frosting recipe.

@flyingdumbo127, YAY! for a new chair.

@tazdev3225, I think you have your priorities just right.

@Bianca and Bernard, where are you that you can go to Duck Donuts and Publix in the same trip. (You probably told me before. I should take notes.)

AuntieMe3... Happy, Happy Anniversary, he sounds like one of the good ones!

Went grocery shopping this morning, seems like the prices go up every week! Came home and did a jigsaw puzzle online and then worked on my sisters estate. Burgers on the grill with fries and fruit salad for dinner.

Tomorrow, I think, DH and I are taking a ride to a nursey to get a few more plants. It is an hour away but, it will be a nice drive. Yes, there are closer places but I just want to make a day of it. (or maybe a morning)

I have been looking for an outdoor bench, but the reviews aren't very good for the ones I am willing to buy. I'll keep looking.

Have a nice evening

If you haven't tried Hayneedle.com..they have some really nice things. I bought my solar fountain bird bath there last year, and have been looking at some of their sales items this week!

Good Tuesday morning. It's a mild 50 out, going to be another picture perfect 76 degree Spring day. Wish it would just last forever! I thought I would be all stiff and achey after mowing yesterday, but nothing? LOL! I am not complaining, just odd, as I usually overdo it and then pay for it the next day.

No outside work needs to be done so I will clean both bathrooms and wash the kitchen floor. I can't stand to just sit and do nothing all day like hubby does. I would be going crazy.

Off to feed the cats and make my grocery list for tomorrow, have a nice morning all!

I am looking at carpet cleaners at walmart. You might be better off as if something goes wrong you can return it

That's what I just did. Looked yesterday and none were available. Well there was 1, but only for pick up in Everett, wherever that is, none for home delivery. This morning I look and they are in stock for delivery, so I ordered one (cost me about $15 more than on ebay), and it will be here Thursday. At least if I don't like it or it doesn't work right, I can just take it back to the store. Still no response from seller on the one I bought Friday. Ebay and Paypal have not gotten responses either. I opened a dispute on both yesterday to cancel the transaction and get my money back. They tell me I have to wait till the expected delivery date of 5/29, but that if they don't get any response from the seller by Thursday, I will get it back sooner. I looked up sold items by that seller, who registered on ebay on 4/30/2021 and they sold 44 items in 3 days (Wed,Thurs,Fri) and at least 10 of them were tv/gaming monitors for $540--Something really fishy about the seller for sure :(
