Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

ETA: I walked two miles today, by myself, without stopping*, in 42 minutes. Considering the fact that a month ago, I couldn't do half a mile without stopping 3-4 times, and taking just as long as I did today....I'm pretty happy with this. Tomorrow, I'm going for 2-1/2.
You go girl!!!!

No outside work needs to be done so I will clean both bathrooms and wash the kitchen floor. I can't stand to just sit and do nothing all day like hubby does. I would be going crazy.
You and my DH are alike. He has to stay busy all the time.

Speaking of DS, another medical issue has come up for him. Please keep him in your prayers. :worried:
Prayers lifted up.

Made grocery list, gathered coupons (anyone else notice that there sure aren't many coupons around anymore?).
I noticed that also. I rarely get to use paper coupons anymore.

Duck Donuts, there is one three hours away from me in Pflugerville which is a good thing. Maybe we'll stop next time we are down that way.

@TazDev, enjoyed your pictures!

Weather forecast a chance of rain for the next week. A friend not far from me has had 3 inches of rain in her rain gauge. I need to get me one of those one of these days. My yard is saturated.

Our internet, cable and landlines went out yesterday evening. It's amazing how dependent for entertainment we have gotten on them. Fortunately we do have a couple of kid friendly DVDs to watch. Most of our kid movies are VHS. If I could only find a VCR that works and wasn't too expensive. So glad it was back on this morning.

Dinner tonight was beef tips and mushrooms on rice with broccoli.

Good morning all. Our heat wave will start today. Mid 80's today, then almost 90 the next 2-3. No rain in sight. Today is grocery and errand day, then home to rest. Knee's started aching in the middle of the night, delayed reaction from yardwork Monday. Moron neighbor decided to try and mow between his 2 fences (the one he had, and the one he put up over our side of the property line, still waiting for him to finish putting it up to have it surveyed and make him move it), anyhow..he decided to try and mow it in the dark around 9, had to close the living room and dining room windows to watch tv. His mower doesn't run well. But who tries to mow in the dark, when you can't see anything? LOL like I said..Moron!
All of those donuts you guys have been talking about sound soooo good. We have no donut places around here with decent donuts. :(
Have a nice morning all,,back later to check in

Busy day today.

We did vote and no problems. Then it was off to try Duck Donuts. I am glad they aren't closer. They were so good.

Food shopping is done, humans and animals alike will eat for the week. The garden is watered and I finally got to use my mothers day gift from a few years ago. Dinner will be light, I am thinking sandwiches or frozen pot pies. I am really tired and some muscles ae not happy with how much use they got over the last 2 days digging.

So here are a few pictures.
The heron from the games last night. Not the best but I was happy to get it.

And some pics of the flowers I planted. They are still very small but will fill the whole space nicely. I planted Dianthus, Marigolds, Verbena, Petunias, Portulacas, Salvia and a couple of other flowers. They should give me plenty of color and attract butterflies, bees and Hummingbirds along with the tiny birds that love my Butterfly Bush. I think I will have a nice summer out there enjoying the visitors. I already have had a visitor. I don't know what the plant he is on is called. I put it in last year and can't remember what it is beyond it should attract visitors, as it did.

Your pictures are gorgeous!

QOTD== About 2 years ago I separated our photos that were not in albums and put them in plastic photo boxes I bought at Hobby Lobby. I also threw away ones that were repeats or just plain "bad." It's not ideal but much easier to find one I want. The individual boxes fit into larger boxes. They are labeled by general category....pets, vacations, kids by name etc.

Good day everyone...I've missed a bit, so apologies for my lack of response during the past week. Good thoughts going out to those in need of them.

How do you store your printed photos? Frames, photo boxes, albums, scrapbooks....

I used to scrapbook...mind you I have not one single "crafting gene" in my body, so they are not terribly imaginative. I did them for a few years, somewhere I have 10-12 scrapbooks packed away. But then I realized I was not very good at it, and wasn't getting much enjoyment out of it. The majority of our photos are in boxes. Loose, boxes and disorganized. I have a few photos up in the house, kids graduation photos, some when they are younger. Not a huge amount. One of these days I will need to go thru them and at least make a effort to store them better and maybe organize them a bit.

Whew! Looks like we are in for some steamy weather later this week/weekend! I'm ready, bring it on. Well, my grass is a bit dry - not a great look and way to much to water- but I'm ready for warm weather.

So we were at Disney Springs the day before Disney announced that masks did not have to be worn outdoors. It was a unseasonably cool and breezy evening, so wearing the masks weren't as bad as they could have been. It was crowded - super crowded we thought, for a Thursday evening -but we enjoyed the little respite. Started the early afternoon off with a beer and shared a appetizer at the outside bar area of Rainforest. Folks were waiting 45+ minutes for a table inside, but we had no wait for a table down there. Good, quiet out of the way spot we've been to before. They are still funneling folks thru just one opening at World of Disney store, although there are several exits. It was confusing, and frankly I'm not sure why they are still doing it. In no way was it keeping any sort of one way flow once folks were in the store. Did a fair bit of walking around and then had dinner at Raglan Road, and were able to comfortably sit outside. I had made ADR's a few weeks ago, but there were lines to get into to most of the places. So yeah, it was crowded. Folks were out in spades, but we were not uncomfortable. I imagine there are a lot of happy folks who are glad they can have their masks off outside this spring & summer! Headed to the west coast of Florida and enjoyed our time there, although it was mostly work -related. We had to drive down, and had zero issues getting gas last week. I know some folks were seeing empty pumps and couldn't get gas but all down 95 S going down and 95 N coming home there was no problem at all with gas availability.

I've misplaced my calendar, and I need to find it. I'm hoping it's in my car. Next up - I need to call the vet and see what our options are to get one of the dogs a exam, it's been a while. BUT he doesn't tolerate much being manhandled or the hint of anyone touching his feet. I'm hoping they can sedate him, we will see.

Back to work for me-

I have old albums that deal with 53 years of marriage including raising our sons. I don’t know what I will do with them. Some are specific to trips DH and I have made. I am pretty sure no one wants those except me.

I have my DH’s baby album from his mom, and DSis has our mom’s pictures which include our baby times. I suppose in the least, maybe next winter, I could pare down the pictures.

I have at least 20 full sized albums, 15 smaller ones. I just don’t know how I will deal with throwing away hundreds of pictures, most of which I actually can remember taking, and the events portrayed.

Upstairs and put away for now. I don't want to deal with them.

Good morning.

No real plans today. DH has an appt at the bank this morning to change the address on his business account. Couldn't do it online. And may drive by MD's office. We used to go to the same PCP and both liked him. Then he joined one of the big groups associated with the local hospital I couldn't get anyone on the phone and that was the straw that broke the camels back so I changed doctors. DH still wants to see him. When he calls to make an appt, the message tells him to use the patient portal but he can't get into the portal because he doesn't have an acct and can't make one until he sees the doctor. A real catch 22. So, he is going to go to the office and try to talk to a person.

How do you store your printed photos? Frames, photo boxes, albums, scrapbooks....
I am really bad about this. I used to use albums but lost interest so a lot are in shoe boxes. DH still likes to to this so he prints and put in albums. Most of my photos I just store digitally and print some I want to frame. I have made photo books for several vacations and both kids' weddings. I want to do that for the last two cruises we did. I certainly have had the time but not the motivation.

Morning all!

((huggles)) and good thoughts to those who need them. Hope your son is doing ok, @Pea-n-Me

I took yesterday off, as my cheat day. I did not walk, I ate bad things, and did nothing.
today, I did 1.96 miles in 42 minutes, without stopping; so I am staying constant. :dogdance: I am recording what I eat now, which is helping. I'll be honest, I am very overweight; I weigh more than double for where my height is supposed to be...but by this time next year, I will be better.🤞

Let's see...I have photo albums. Like some of you, I did scrapbooking for awhile. I enjoyed it, but I am not very good at it, lol. I should get more stuff and do a few more. The rest of my photos are either stored online (on Shutterfly), on my OneDrive, on a hard drive on my computer, or in a plastic container in my closet.

Two days ago, we had ordered Asian (I had Massaman curry and Thai yellow curry; DH had sweet n sour chicken; they don't dredge or fry); yesterday was leftovers. (DS doesn't like the food from there, so he ate French bread pizzas both nights). Tonight, I have some chicken I cooked in the instantpot yesterday, so I'm going to add them to spinach and carrot salad, with crispy onion strings, and some hatchs green chile cheese bread (Soberdough). The apartment complex is having a food truck come up tonight, and I am so tempted to go there instead, lol. It's a seafood truck, and I could have blackened shrimp tacos, and deep fried brussel sprouts..............:bitelip:

Good Morning, Everyone :)

All the donut talk does indeed make me want go to Duck Donuts one day 🍩 Just Googled and there is one in Garden Grove which says it's about 15 minutes away from Anaheim. Hmmm, maybe our Quacker Family meet one day will have to somehow include a trip to Duck Donuts!

 to you and your DH AuntieMe3. The last year for you both (and in general of course with the pandemic) has had so much going on. I can understand his extra missing not being able to spend your actual Anniversary together. Prayers you will be able to have a belated celebration soon. Timely QOTD because I was chatting with a friend on Sunday about post pandemic my possibly trying to offer a scrapbook making service to church and other friends! I would enjoy helping people to put together for safe keeping and better enjoying memories plus this would be something I could do partly from home and set my own hours for. Am keeping it all in prayer and thinking about what a first ad of sorts to one day get out there :)

So onto the QOTD: How do you store your printed photos? Frames, photo boxes, albums, scrapbooks....Years ago, I did all of the above! I kept most anything and everything especially cards. Last year it was a healing and also fun process to take time to slowly go through all the cards, pictures, and other paper mementos I had saved over the years. I sorted through my findings, keeping only what truly still brought me a smile or positive memory to look back on. The other stuff? Time to truly let it go! Make room for future brighter memories to come. Dad and I have also begun (lol don't know why we never thought of doing this until now but it also means more that we have started it during this time) a scrapbook together that will be filled with photos and other memories special to us both that we can enjoy looking back on and through/adding to together.

Good to see you posting Kimmar.

Chair update is sadly it will be going back to Staples. I feel terrible because Dad worked so hard assembling it. To me, this chair just does not feel as comfortable as the floor model I remember testing out on Monday. I realize, I was on cloud 9 of sorts being so Blessed to get to try it out and that I really only sat in it a couple minutes. I would not recommend the Tervina chair unless you prefer a super firm chair and possibly are also not quite as tall as I am--I'm 5'8" Back it will go. I will always be so grateful to God and through Him the kind manager at Staples and always, my Dad, for making it possible for me to go on Monday to Staples--that truly filled me with such an extra hope :)

Kirby, I hope all your devices are back up and working this morning. It is amazing how dependent we all become on routine technology!

Wow it is heating up there, Lynn! :) to Eyeore's advice. You take care!

That was a good picture sorting and saving idea, DazedX3!

So glad you did have some WDW fun, Easyas. Prayers for your doggie to do okay with his appointment!

God Bless you and your DH, Bobbiwoz on 53 years together! How wonderful :) I'm sure all your pictures are indeed a time capsule to a love over a lifetime and still growing!

Hug, Carol, it often does feel harder and harder to get through promptly (or sometimes at all) these days to a real person for a call of any reason! I extra think anything so personal as reaching out to any type of health care person ought to be much simpler!

Hug to you as well, B&B. Glad you had a day off yesterday. Go you for all the walking!

Happy Wednesday to all!

We have a Duck doughnuts in Northern DE, and I've seen them when we've vacationed in Duck, NC but I'm not sure I have actually been to one...doughnuts, like pizza is lost on me. I like them both, I just can't see huge difference between one or another ;) I couldn't tell a grocery store, Dunkin Doughnuts or Duck doughnuts glazed doughnut from one another probably! With that being said I do have family members who are rabid fans of Duck Doughnuts and they swear they are the best!

Welp, the butt head dog has a vet appt. He's always been up to date on his shots, our vet will do just shots outside of a exam, but his last proper exam has been 3 years ago. At that exam he went berserk and in the ensuing years he has bit someone. He's extremely protective of our home, and to a lesser degree me. Add to that he simply will not tolerate being poked and messed with as he might during a normal exam, and honestly I'm worried about him biting the vet or vet tech out of anxiety or fear or just being pissed off for being manhandled. He has to have an exam, and we are working with him on a basket muzzle, he ripped off a regular muzzle twice during his last exam....they won't give me anything to sedate him prior since it's been over a year since they've seen him. We've got an appt. in two weeks time, in the morning when it is quiet and after everyone has already dropped their dogs off for day surgeries and the like. I'm hoping that if we get him in there and he is not having it they will sedate him then and there vs. sending us home to come back and try again another day with a pill to chill him out. Poor Ladd, it's going to stress him out beyond belief I'm afraid, and me as I hope he doesn't reactionarily bite someone. He's got to have an exam though - he needs it, plus he's got a lump that has me concerned. I'm sure it's a fatty deposit, but I've also already lost a dog to cancer so I'm sure I'm seeing something where it's not.

Placed a grocery order for delivery. I think we will have turkey/veggie burgers for dinner w/ some Nathan's fries.

Good Afternoon everyone.

It is warming up around here but I am still comfortable enough in the house with just a fan on so not hitting the AC yet. I try to hold off til June if I can. My husband says I am just to cheap to pay a higher electric bill. He could be right.

I was supposed to take a trip to Lancaster today with my mom and another person but mom canceled the trip last minute. Evidently at the meeting I missed they voted to open the church today and she has to clean it. In a way I don't care as all the gardening has my knee and back screaming TAKE ALEVE!!! I am just taking it easy today. I may even get my husband to order take out tonight.

QOTD - I took all of my hard copy pics out of their albums a few years ago and scanned them all into the computer. Then they were sorted by date and put in storage boxes. I have some pics from my mom that I need to scan but my scanner is not working. As soon as I find a new one they will go in the computer and then I will go through my insane organizational routine of cross referencing everything. I resisted digital when it first came out and thought nothing of going through rolls of film on a Disney trip and then printing them out. Digital is so much cheaper but now i take the equivalent of 125 rolls of film a trip. I did order some hard copies of pics to put up in the kitchen but I need 10 5X7 frames and 20 4X6 frames. Trying to find some nice ones that won't cost a fortune. After we are done the living and dining rooms I will be printing out family pictures for the long wall.

I love the LIMES/SMILE thing!!

How do you store your printed photos? Frames, photo boxes, albums, scrapbooks....

Lots in frames - some on the walls and some I rotate on the bookshelves.

Quite a few old regular albums, and then a ton of scrapbooks.

I was really into it when DS was little and I wasn’t out working, but I’m much slower with it now, so a lot never get scrapbooked and are just in the computer/phone.

I love digital for the convenience of instant access for photo projects, but there was nothing like that envelope of developed film prints sitting on the counter to make me put them in books. 🤣

.the cicada's started emerging this morning.
Here too. I have been walking through the trees looking for them and all I was seeing was the holes in the ground. Today I saw lots of the shells they leave behind on the tree trunk and leaves of one of the maples. I only saw one flying.

We have a Duck doughnuts in Northern DE, and I've seen them when we've vacationed in Duck, NC
Yep, that Newark one is right down the street from church and was often a Sunday morning stop. And we've been to the ones in Duck, NC. Honestly, they are very good but the ones at the Amish Market are bigger, cost less, and are even better.

but the ones at the Amish Market are bigger, cost less, and are even better

mmmmmm yes, you are correct there!

I had an egg salad sandwich

We've recently "rediscovered" egg salad. For some reason it wasn't something I usually made, not for any particular reason. Goodness knows we eat a lot of eggs - so one day I made some and my husband was like "why haven't we been eating this more often?" haha. So egg salad is back on our rotation.

We were so Blessed this morning to have help that made the chair return a ton easier for my Dad. Our new Sparkletts delivery man Sandro is so nice. Dad asked him if there were anyway he wouldn't mind bringing the assembled chair down to the car. Sandro immediately lifted that chair lol as if it were a sack of potatoes! Once at Staples, the same clerk Abe who had carried the box out on Monday, brought the chair back inside today. I am very thankful that is done with and our credit card will be refunded.

I've enjoyed reading how each of you store and display photos :)

I've never been donut-crazy. When I indulged in a ton of sweets often I would have preferred fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies! I do remember how tasty my first time ever hot donut at Krispy Kreme was. I think that's (that they are served hot) is what sounds so tempting to me about Duck Donuts.

Have a good afternoon everyone!
