Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

They only allow one person to wait. I had one meltdown but I am better now. The first part of the surgery is over, it should be about another 2-3 hours, (8 total) Then he will go to the recovery room for 1-2 hours. So far there has only been a few minor glitches.

Do you have a support system, family/friends or therapist to vent to besides your husband? Perhaps that might provide you a safe space to 'melt down' as you put it, or lay out your fears and concerns, sometimes just getting them out helps a bit even if it changes nothing. All the hurry up & wait has to be stressful for you. I'm glad you've only got a few more hours till he's in recovery. My good thoughts continue to go with you (and him) today.

So todays SNAFU is that, once again, all 5 of the phone lines were down this morning. Long story short, they wanted me to reboot the modem, again. I threw a fit, huffed & puffed and insisted on a tech coming out. Said tech arrived, addressed me like I was a silly girl (ahem, all while calling his boss 'The Mandalorian' whilst talking to him on the phone....idiot) and dismissed me when I said there was a issue, this is happening a lot. Well - guess what, there IS a issue, and the Tech guy has been here now for almost 3 hours, while on the phone to The Mandalorian, trying to figure it out.
Welp, at least our first day back of the New Year has been quiet! 😬
I actually had a few phone calls to make, and our cells get horrid service in this building, so I've put it off for a bit rather than standing outside in the cold damp.

Dazedx3 Thinking of you and your DH today. I hope things go well and you can see him soon. Sending prayers to you.

lynxstch Glad that your DGD is doing better and coming home.

With charities, I like to try to give to one a month if possible. On charity that makes me crazy is Alzheimer's, the national fund. I give every March in memory of a dear neighbor who died from early onset Alzheimer's. Once I donate they send me another request almost every week. I feel like my entire donation is being used to ask me for more money. I have to check charity navigator to see if there is a better one where most of the money goes to research. I also donate to Diabetes Assn in memory of my best friend who passed from complications of diabetes. I like Animal Rescue League. the dog food fund that is part of MSPCA, St. Jude, and our local Santa fund.

I am not a science fiction person at all, more historical fiction and nonfiction. DH is big into Star Trek and science fiction movies like 2001 and other similar movies. He also likes the old science fiction movies from the 50s: War of the Worlds and The Day the Earth Stood Still. I have to admit to liking that last one. When we dated he used to want me to watch Star Trek with him. I know entirely too much about that show. Thankfully I think some of it is leaving my brain. :D

It is tough to get back into the work mode after having a few weeks of working 3-4 days. This week will be a full week and I am already tired. They still want me to work 40 hours a week for the next couple of weeks. I guess the project has not ended yet. I have to figure out what day off to request this month. I have to keep ahead of my PTO accrual.

I'm sorry you had phone frustration, Easyas123!

Snowysmom, Dad donated a few times to Alzheimers in memory of my Grandma. They never let up! Hug, on your neighbor. Thank you for also spreading around your donations.

I had a nice talk with a dear friend this afternoon which is always welcome.

Tomorrow one pair of my new fuzzy socks will be washed. Hoping they don't fuzz too much or (most of all) shrink! Will share when I know they can be recommended :)

I'm planning to record two Autumn movies later on that look a lot sweeter than sadly the so far winter movies (to me) have been.

Hope all of you are having a good later afternoon/evening!

Almost let another day get away without posting.

Started to take down a little of the decorations. Leaving the tree up until the weekend. Then DD and DGD stopped by at lunchtime. DGD had an eye exam this morning then DD was taking her to Tiny Town in Lancaster as a treat. Stopped by with McDonalds before heading up. DGD really liked it then they were able to see the lights at Herr's on the way home.

@dazedx3 , I hope all is well with your DH. Take care of yourself.

We do most of our donations through the church and through UMCOR. They donate 100% of donations to specific disaster relief. We donate items/clothing to the local Help Center.

Good morning all. Raining here, and temp will only be upper 30's. Better than snow and ice I guess. My new glasses came in yesterday, they were promised for today. Hubby's were promised for yesterday, but not in yet. Told them to call when both are there, and then we will make appts to go and get them. Not wasting a trip. Today is laundry and cleaning day, not that I feel like doing either but,,,lol.
I hope @dazedx3 lets us know how her hubby's surgery went today, but she had a long day of waiting, and that's very hard on a person, especially when you can't have anyone physically there to support you. Have a great day all!c3b45ce7108149a096924866b9879214.jpg

lynxstch. I love that painting of mickey and figment! I haven’t seen it before.

so help me out group, I’ve been wearing glasses since i was in 3rd grade, did contacts for 10 years, then due to allergies have been wearing glasses ever since. I go to the eye doctor yearly. Lately, even though i can read my phone, I feel more comfortable taking my glasses off to see the text more clearly. Oops guess i should mention i need the glasses to read signs far away. Does this mean , i am now having issues with seeing close up too ? I’m too young for bifocals . I have to wait till February to go to doctor with insuarance. It’s just another strange thing I’ll add to being in my 40s

I’m too young for bifocals .

I’m also to young for them....but let me tell you- life changing!
They have no line bifocals, and once you get used to them it’s a world of difference. Took me about a week to adjust to them, maybe a day or so less. When I first put them on I was really disheartened because it seemed it made it worse, but I’d wear them for a few hours then when I started to get a headache and I really couldn’t see I go back to my old glasses, then I put the new ones on and over the course of a couple days my eyes adjusted to them and then one day I put them on and I didn’t even notice the difference except I could see a lot better!
I’m u see 50 and have been wearing them for a few years now, unlike you I’ve been a glasses where her since elementary school I think.

Good Morning Everyone,

@dazedx3 I hope your husband is doing well and recovering easy as possible. Being a caretake and the only one there is incredibly hard on emotions. Please think about caretaker support group, even virtual, or maybe someone in the hospital system can help find you support channel while you are there supporting your husband. I hope his recovery is easy as possible for both of you.

It's been busy few days here but we tried to reset and be ready by resting much possible of the New Year's weekend. My MIL's heart is just not doing well and she is so stubborn wanting to do anything and everything herself and let us in as she sees fit. She called me upset last night because she doesn't feel that well and not getting the call backs and such she is expecting. Well no kidding she doesn't feel well, she has aortic aneurysm growing that needs to be taken care of but dragging her feet to have tests done! Let's hope we get some answers soon before things go south quickly.

I'm going to start taking down Christmas inside today I think. I LOVE my tree and the decorations. It brings me peace but I'm also ready to have sense of order and "normal" and be able to breathe without hanging over my head to get done. I do like when everything is clean and in place.

I know we have some Hallmark watchers on here and wanted to say if possible to catch my absolute favorite Hallmark movie The Lost Valentine with Betty White. It is a tear jerker but just beautiful. I watch it every year. The first time I watched it during a deployment and cried through box of tissues but still watch it. I'm excited that Zoey's Playlist comes back to TV tonight! My husband and I both enjoy it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning 🐣

Praying, today is a brighter and easier day for you and your DH, DazedX3. Praying for you both.

Tiny Town looks adorable, Carol! How fun. I remember reading of a small world type ride in a children's book that featured displays (boat riders would see) of different parts of a town like a school, church, playground, etc. Tiny Town sounds like a live/interactive version of that.

Lynxstch, I hope your glasses come in today! I agree about no sense in making two trips!

Hug, Sparkle and Easyas123! Glasses and changing prescriptions definitely take getting used to! Dad wore contacts for most of his life. About 3 years or so ago, he had cataract surgery on both eyes which now he is so grateful to have had. At the time neither went easy. He no longer wears glasses at all. At first he did use Dollar Tree readers. I am nearsighted and have a strong-ish driving prescription. What's semi weird is during the plague, now that I am home all the time and thank God so much more at ease and restful, not stressed being on the run always, I think my vision might be a little better. Post plague, I will absolutely have an eye exam. I hope both of you get glasses that work well :)

Good to see you, Tina. on your MIL. Christmas and decorations also bring both calm and joy to my heart. I am someone who likes things neatly in their place and organized. It can be hard to take down longer term decorations! Thanks for the Hallmark movie recommendation. Love, Fall, and Order, was all right. I have Sweet Autumn (I semi remember that from last year) recorded.

Happy Tuesday to all!

Thanks everyone, DH is doing better today, it was hard to get his pain under control last night but today seems to be on the right course. The surgery went pretty much as expected. He is more alert today but apprehensive about the life changes this surgery will bring, I keep reminding him that the most important change is, it is giving him the possibility of a much longer life.
Thanks for the continued concern and hope everyone has a great day,

Good day.

@lynxstch, I forgot to say that I, too, am glad your DGD is doing better and coming home.

I’m too young for bifocals
I asked DH, who is an optometrist. He said 40-42 is the usual age for bifocals. I've had progressive bifocals for years.

Tiny Town looks adorable,
DGD loved it. Really enjoyed dressing up and playing. DD said only 4 families there so well socially distanced.

I'm excited that Zoey's Playlist comes back to TV tonight!
Me too. I like that show.

@dazedx3 , I'm glad your DH seems to be improving.

Today the septic repair guy came with a backhoe. And the county health department guy came to do the perc test . Now we wait for the permit then the backhoe comes back to dig a new drainage field. (Do we have a money flying out of my wallet smiley?)

Yikes, sounds like quite a process Carol! Prayers it goes smoothly, quickly, not too much cash flies out of your wallet!

One pair of fuzzy socks washed well this morning. Lol, they look bigger than an unwashed pair! Friday, the other 5 pairs will be washed. I am pleased it did not shrink and Dad said it also did not fuzz all over. I'll share on Friday whether I recommend these socks when I know about the others. So far so good :)

Good afternoon everyone, hope the day is going well for you all.

This morning we had some delightful sleet. Yuck. Luckily it didn't last long and was over and done with by the time I left for work. I jokingly told my husband that since he had gone and gotten a big bag of salt and left it on the side porch, it would keep away the ice and snow and we'd have to lug it back to the barn later in the spring. Somehow I doubt we will get off that lucky!

So for Christmas my husband got one of those trail cameras that sends the photos of what is in front of your camera to you in real time (as opposed to going to get the camera card out of it and looking at it later) and he put it up in the woods that back up to the field behind the house. He keeps getting photos of one of barn cats - evidently the camera is overlooking some of his haunting/hunting grounds! So now it's become 24/7 watching of what this particular cat is up to, as well as the occasional other cats, cardinals and racoons. He's taken to calling it the 'name of our town black panther', and is constantly updating me on what the cat is doing. Oh the excitement of January....

So I had a weird episode, well maybe that isn't the right word for it, but whatever it was, I got home and I was cold. Cold. Cold. And couldn't warm up. By the time I went to bed I had the heating pad under my back a heavy velour blanket and the comforter. Then I asked my husband to put the electric blanket on me. I figured I'd warm up and wake up sweating to death, but I never did. Slept that way (got rid of the heating pad before falling asleep) all night. I've been chilly all day and am starting to feel a bit off, mostly headachy. I've been taking my temp and it's fine, I feel fine, I just feel off. And cold still. Oddly enough, I slept thru the night last night, and I slept soundly and good once I got to sleep, which NEVER is my normal routine, I'm usually up once if not twice during the night on good nights. I honestly can't recall the last time I slept thru the night. I better not be getting this crap, or any other for that matter:sad2: and now I'm obsessing over and second guessing every sniffle, twinge and imagined issue. This Covid has me paranoid at times.

Dinner this evening will be a frenched rack of lamb from the deep freeze served with??? I have no idea. I'll figure it out later.

Heads up to my fellow Marylanders, Governor is holding another press conference at 5 today to outline vaccine distribution as I understand it.

DH is doing better today

That is good news, thanks for taking the time to update us. I'm sure these next days and weeks will be bringing their own challenges, but I'm so very happy for you and him that yesterday went as hoped.

Today the septic repair guy came with a backhoe. And the county health department guy came to do the perc test . Now we wait for the permit then the backhoe comes back to dig a new drainage field.

good luck!

One pair of fuzzy socks washed well this morning.

Oh, good! Enjoy your socks.

Thanks, Easyas123. Stay well and warm! I often feel early in the morning as though I just can't warm up! I generally feel most warm and cozy after a shower (possibly from the steam) I am glad you got such a good night sleep after all. I always get up at least twice too and that's after falling asleep! I get up a couple times while I'm first getting settled for the night.

Hope all of you are having a good afternoon :)

@easyas123 I hope you warm up and feel better. Your rack of lamb sounds delicious. Hubby doesn't like it,,and it's too much work and money to make one for just me (same with roast duck), so I will live vicariously through yours, lol!
Thanks for the heads up on Hogan making yet another press conference..and he better 'have the damn mask on' throughout the entire thing too!
@Breezy_Carol--I hope they can get the permit and get your work done quickly, without it being a real expensive 'mess'.
@flyingdumbo127 glad your socks didn't shrink, but sounds odd that they came out bigger than they went in? I have never had socks fuzz over, that's a new one on me. Hope your others come out of the wash as good as they go in!

Lol, Lynn, not sure they came out bigger just that they looked a little bigger than an unwashed pair. The 5 remaining pairs will be washed on Friday, Just so you and everyone else knows what I am talking about on Amazon the item is: B08P5PRBWB Thank you, my friend.

It's such a Blessing to not feel cold right now! Tomorrow is supposed to be 72. I am wearing fleecy PJ pants :) On an Amazon Essential T shirt note, I recommend them. On the short sleeve T's I'd suggest sizing up. The one I am wearing now is a large which usually for me now that I am thin would be very roomy. It shrunk in the wash to being comfortable roomy :) The long sleeve version seemed to better hold it's original sizing. Very soft material.

...but I'm also ready to have sense of order and "normal"

I was feeling that way today, too - It was nice to be back in the school routine with my little "niece" and "nephew".

Thanks for the heads-up on the movie, and DH and I are big Zoey fans, too! I'm excited for both that and This Is Us to be back.

I asked DH, who is an optometrist. He said 40-42 is the usual age for bifocals. I've had progressive bifocals for years.

I'm 50, and have had them for a few years as well.

(Do we have a money flying out of my wallet smiley?)

HaHa - we should!

So for Christmas my husband got one of those trail cameras that sends the photos of what is in front of your camera to you in real time (as opposed to going to get the camera card out of it and looking at it later) and he put it up in the woods that back up to the field behind the house. Love this!!

So I had a weird episode, well maybe that isn't the right word for it, but whatever it was, I got home and I was cold. Cold. Cold. And couldn't warm up.

I lose track of ages/backstories sometimes, so forgive me if this doesn't apply at all, but I had real issues with being cold when I was in perimenopause. I expected hot flashes, but it was exactly the opposite - I'd have a late afternoon freeze! (It actually still happens sometimes when the sun goes down, but not nearly as bad.)

If that's not it, are you prone to anemia? I notice I get cold when my iron is low.

Either way, I get how every symptom feels like "Is it ______ or Covid?" right now, so I hope it turns out not to be related to that.
