QOTD: What’s your favorite time of year?
I love them all. I am one of those people who are ready for the change of seasons when it comes. Being in the Pacific Northwest, we have big changes with seasons. Beautiful mild summers, mostly, and lots of wet, but it makes everything green. I do worry a little that if quarantine continues into late fall/winter, I may change my mind when it is too wet, windy and cold for my walks and bike rides. Finding those to be important for my mental health right now.

I have been binge watching the most recent season of Top Chef on Hulu today. This is the one in Kentucky. I love these competition shows, and they are great when you have several loads of laundry to fold, like I did today. Now it is time to read more Dresden Files and go to sleep 🥱

Halloween, yay or nay.

I'm a nay on Halloween. I was never big into it, only went trick or treating once as a kid. It just never held a big appeal to me. My husband however, his family was really into it. I never decorated the house or anything, but we did take the kids trick or treating and all that stuff. We've had fall bonfires almost every year and the decor has drifted from fall to halloween depending on the date we hold the fire.
My MIL is big into every holiday, Halloween being no exception. 3 Halloween trees. 3.....

Orioles baseball is back

You lost me there (haha see what I did there, Orioles - lost) - I'm not a baseball fan at all, but MD sure does love their Orioles !

Halloween....big YAY!! WE love it. Not sure what it is going to be like this year.

One of DD's favorite movies is Muppet's Christmas Carol. She would watch it over and over when she was young and it still remains a favorite of hers anytime during the year

And it's on a Saturday this year...it'll be ashame if kids can't go trick or treating. I can see it being a easy thing to social distance though, so hopefully the "show will go on"!

Ah - Muppets, one of the very few shows we were allowed to watch as kids ( along with the Dick Cavett Show and Dr. Who....I think my folks presumed if it was on PBS it in the early evening it was ok :scratchin ) To this day I still love the Muppet Show! I wish they still made it like they did in the 70's/early 80's. Every holiday season we still watch Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas if for no other reason that the outtakes at end of the movie get us rolling!

Halloween, yay or nay?

Love it! I love seeing all the kids in their cute costumes, and making up creative candy packages to hand out. (And when DS was little, I loved making him costumes.)

Sadly, I don't see it being a great idea this year. I'm picturing virtual costume "parades" and kids getting elaborate candy baskets (Great Pumpkin, anyone?) instead of going door to door.

Halloween, yay or nay. I dislike it. Always have. Do the minimum when it comes to candy and rarely decorate.

Love it. Always have. I always liked the more mythological side of it - the Samhain/harvest/thinning of the veil between the living and dead thing, even as a kid. I remember when I was only four years old loving all the spooky stories, ghosts, cemeteries, things like that. Wasn't even the trick or treating that I liked, it was all of the other traditions and meanings behind the holiday.

I've often joked I'm like Persephone - in my usual, everyday form, bright and flowery. But underneath, also dark and spooky.

I was excited for a Saturday Halloween this year (I don't have children, but on Saturdays I can be out late and not worry about work the next day) but I fear anything I might have wanted to do like a Halloween party may be a no-go now. This may be the year I go ahead and have my own Halloween party. I have wanted to do a hosted painting party (like Painting with a Twist) for years, and that can be done with social distancing, so perhaps this is the year.

One of my favorite shows. I have seen every episode of every season, and I hope it gets renewed again!

Happy Saturday everyone. Did grocery shopping this morning, stopped at the farm stand and got fresh corn, watermelon and cantaloupe. Came home and put stuff away. Managed to get the lawn mowed, again. I just did it Monday, but between all the storms we got this weekend and the sun, it was tall again. And in our garden, finally , we have 3 ripe tomatoes! Hurray!
I am not a fan of Halloween. I used to love to hand out candy to trick or treaters and see the costumes, but we live outside the city limits, there are not many street lights and no sidewalks, so there are no trick or treaters :(

Halloween, yay or nay?

I like Halloween....its just fun. When my daughter was younger, we meet up with all the cousins at my aunts house and trick or treat around her community(not sure if he's still there but Tom Bergeron used to live in there and he would hand out candy ::yes::). We would have so much fun, we would only have to go two or three blocks and the kids would get so much candy. Some houses even had treats for the parents. One of my other aunts got married on Halloween, the last time it was on a Saturday, at my aunts house. Everyone dressed up and in between the wedding and reception, we took the kids out trick or treating. It was so fun.

I LOVE going to Halloween costume parties, love dressing up, especially themed one. One year it was an 80s party....i was Mrs Roper from Three's Company and hubby was Gene Simmons. We've had a couple ourselves but seems the last couple years we've had previous plans.

Missed a few days again lol.

I've attended one surprise party (for DS's former Cubmaster's wife, at her parents fancy schmancy house). I am not a big fan of them.

Favorite time of year? fall and spring. Not super hot, not super cold, beautiful scents in the air. All 4 seasons have their bonuses, but the temperature is what wins those two for me.

Halloween...Yay. I love making kids smile, I love decorating.

Nothing really happening here. I'm just watching reruns; just finished Top Shot, and now I'm at the end of season 7 of Gordon's Ramsey's H Kitchen (I think the title might get starred, haha). Finished reading the new Butcher book; can't wait until September when it gets finished (yes, I know it shows as a completed book...it's not. The main story line is still open, and I hate wondering what comes next!).

Just a quick drive-by posting...

Went to the store this morning, then came home and had lunch. Afterward, we spent about 2 hours driving around town playing the library's "Imagine Your Story" scavenger hunt. We visited 15 out of the 20 places - we know of another place, I've seen the sign while driving by, but we didn't stop there yet. Maybe tomorrow. The other 4 have me stumped. The last place we stopped was one of the fire departments, and this one has 2 beams from the North Tower of the World Trade Center out front, with a memorial. I didn't want to explain the entire thing to Josh just yet, but it made me cry, so I showed him photos (of the towers, not of 9/11 itself) and just told him that the buildings fell down. He asked why, then said, "Did monsters make them fall down?" I told him that yes...yes, monsters did indeed bring them down :sad1:

As I said before, I LOVE Halloween! It's my favorite holiday...Christmas is 2nd. The kids in their costumes are so cute! My favorite visitor from a few years ago was a little boy wearing a red polo shirt and khakis, and as he stepped up to the door, he said - just like in the commercials - "Hi. I'm Jake. From State Farm." That was an AWESOME costume! I love to get dressed up, too, and it's the one time of the year that I can do my "goth" thing without someone giving me a strange look. I hope we still have a Halloween this year...

I don't really care for Halloween. I do like to see the little kiddies dressed up but that is about it. I am not a fan of scary or haunted anything. If I had to take a guess I would think alot of places will be skipping Halloween this year. The kids do love it so I feel bad for them. On the bright side we can hope that things will be better by then.

It is getting hot again here, 90 to day and forecast for mid to high 90s for the next 2 days. We walked in the morning before it got too hot and will do so tomorrow. We work Monday so probably no walk that day. Doggie will have to stay inside too. He will be disappointed. He loves his walks.

Gratitude:
Videochat with 3 of the grandkids last night. They are so active and love to show us what they are doing. The littlest one just comes to the phone and smiles at us. She also tries to press the button to turn it off.

We had a nice dinner out with patio dining (actually parking lot dining LOL) last night. There was a breeze and the sun was behind the clouds so it was on the cool side. Social distancing, customers wearing masks to the table and when up and around, and servers wearing masks and gloves so felt safe.

We have a nice cool house in which to hide from the heat. We are fortunate.

Happy weekend everyone!

QOTD: I love all four seasons but especially fall. 🍁 I have a lot of fall colors in my home. We also really love Halloween! Our kids’ birthday is around then so since they were born we always made it really festive and did fun things for parties and in the community for the season. We also make a big night of Halloween itself - not so much w dressing up but we have a fire and wine while giving out candy. Dogs are always included and they do dress up, lol.

Had some busy shifts this week but having a quiet weekend. Made spaghetti and meatballs w salad and garlic bread for the crew and it was a hit. A patient was talking to me the other day about Kentucky Fried Chicken and it got into my head so we got some of that last night. DD made some cupcakes w DH’s frosting recipe. She makes them look really nice and they were delish. She got her dream job this week so we were grateful about that!

I missed the funny pet stories - read but couldn’t respond. It had me thinking though. We had a three legged German Shepherd when I was growing up. Those were the days before leash laws. So our family left home to go out in our station wagon one day. We got about five blocks from home, but over the river and through the woods so to speak, not a straight shot by any means. We came to a stop at a red light and the dog jumped in the back window of he car! He had apparently been running after us as we left! 😭 He was the same dog we also had a turkey story about after Thanksgiving dinner. My mother always laughed about the time he came walking up the stairs with it in his mouth, lol.

Hope everyone is holding up with this weather!

Hello Everyone,
I love all seasons, but I guess Spring is my favorite.

This was supposed to be our long weekend away, including a park picnic with our family, including our almost 2 year old granddaughter who we haven't seen in 7 months. The week before, I had a possible exposure to the virus. We were thinking we would have to cancel, but the persons test came back negative. So we decided to go ahead with the plans. We picked a town 2 hours away, about half way, between them and us. DH and I left on Thursday, for a few days to ourselves. We are almost to the hotel when he says he is getting a sore throat, we check in and the cough starts. He gets colds quite often and this seemed very much like usual, but we are in a pandemic.
So we spent a horrible night, and decided to call his doctor, who said to come home for a Covid test. We canceled our plans with our family and came home. I know it was the right thing to do, but we were so disappointed, we haven't gone or done anything since this all started(except work) Waiting for the results now. Oh well, I have to believe it just wasn't meant to be.
