Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning and so nice to come on this morning once more to extra shares, thank you all.

Welcome back, B&B! I hope you did have a happy birthday!

Hug, Pea, and doggie prayers.

Dad will be going to Ikea sometime today. I hope he finds something. We have to use every inch if this apartment's small space so that can be a challenge. How blessed we are, of course, to have the space period. He's mostly looking for a big bookcase or cabinet to replace a broken one along with nightstands and of course, new kitchen chairs. I'll let you all know what he ends up getting.

Have a lovely Wednesday, friends! (Wow it's already mid-week)! I shall be back later.

B&B, so nice to see you back! :goodvibes I love the furniture pieces! I can just picture what will look nice on the walls - a large picture that pulls all those colors in! Do you have a Home Goods?

I can see it too!!

Welcome back, B&B 😃

Aww, thanks. :) I had a very quiet birthday; DH and I stayed home and ordered pizza for dinner, and the kids all called me or messaged me.

There is a Home Goods about 10 minutes from me; right next to the Target and Kohls (along with about 20 other shops); it's a dangerous area for me to be with a credit card. :rotfl2: There's also an At Home, the opposite direction, about 15 minutes away.

The couch is called 'sunflower'; the chair is 'sand'; the lamps are 'blue' (a kind of smokey blue) and the rug has all those + beige and brown. The dining room is 'champagne', but to me, the table looks more like wet sand, with a dark clay stripe, and the chairs like sand. DH picked all the furniture out this time, so I'll tell him y'all approve. I'll take any and all help on the decorating, because I am not very good at it at all.

Dumbo: we have some Ikea bookshelves. They were a pain to put together, and one came with warped boards, but they look nice. They aren't very secure unless they are bolted to the wall, though. It's 4 Ikea bookshelves together, 2 of one size, 2 of another.
The other shelf holding our small collection of alcohol is from Target, and is not sturdy at all. It wobbles like crazy, even bolted to the wall. We are looking for a bar cabinet to fit with the dining room table. We have a couple of these Room Essential shelves, including one in our bedroom that holds our socks/undergarments/pjs in bins, and they are all wobbly. We do have another brand of shelf, Sauder, that we got at Target, that is much sturdier and barely moves.

On today's food agenda: I made a french vanilla cake, with a lemon curd filling, and a vanilla marshmallow frosting. (no recipes, nothing from scratch). Tonight is either citrus pork tacos with pickled onion and southwest crema (if the Hello Fresh box gets here on time), or if not, then frozen breaded fish patties, frozen fries and broccoli coleslaw (emergency meal for times like that). Lunch is leftovers from last night: my first attempt at oko...ono...uh, Japanese veggie pancakes. They didn't stay together too well, but they were good!

@TazDev So sorry that your DH has to have surgery on his toe. But, the good news is it was caught in time and he will have it treated and be better. Sending thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and quick and easy recovery.

@Pea-n-Me Fingers crossed for this doggie to be a good fit and available.

B&B Glad to see you are back. I love the color of your couch. I am useless at decorating so I have no ideas on what to put on the walls. LOL! I will have 6 frames of grandkids and one Donald Duck framed artwork on the wall when I move to my condo.

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you find bookshelves that you like.

@PollyannaMom I love the picture of your cat. Kitty is just chilling out.

I ordered gray curtains for the sliders in the living room. My DDIL likes them so I am good to go. I have to abdicate the decorating stuff as I don't like it and don't do well with it. But, they did like the rugs I picked out and only suggested to change the color on one. I ordered phones that my older DS recommended. He is going to pick out a TV for me and help me setup for verizon fios. My condo is all set up for fios and it is the only service at the complex. I will have to cancel Comcast which we have had forever. At least I can keep my email with Comcast. I forgot how much stuff you have to do when moving. I do not like to have to ask for help but I so need it as I am mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. It has been a rough 7 months. I love it when my therapist asks if I am doing self care. She knows the answer but she always tells me to do some things for me. No time for that most days. I am going to stay with my therapist even after I move back to my area. I asked my DS if I could go to see the therapist and spend the night at his house. He is fine with that. I don't want to start over with someone new and in my area it is almost impossible to find one without a 6 month wait. Plus I like her and we get along well. I am hoping I can make my appts for late Thursday afternoon and take off Friday so I can take my time going back to my place or spend the weekend with the grandkids. I will probably cut back to every 3-4 weeks.

Have a great rest of the day.

Another thing that might work, is if the therapist does telehealth visits, so you could talk to her as frequently as you need, but don't have to worry about making the trips down all the time. DS sees his therapist via Skype, but he could do calls or texts if he needs to. Just something to think about, that might help your transitioning.

The open MRI on my shoulder is over!
Glad you have got that behind you - I know I hate the anticipation/dread of medical tests and always feel so relieved when they are over.
I am so not a decorating person.
Me either! I'm trying to decide on paint colors and I'm not even having a great deal of success with that. I always thought it would be fun to have a interior decorator come and and have a go at our place! I doubt I'll ever do it, but I do like to day dream about it.
I have been reading but honestly other than Bobbiwoz I can't remember anything.
Sometimes it does start to run together.
I spoke with the rescue‘s adoption coordinator today and we had a nice conversation.
Fingers crossed 🤞
We got our second boosters over the last few weeks
We need to get to that...thanks for the reminder. I've been holding off, but I'm thinking we might get them.

Hi all. What's new & exciting?
Yeah, nothing much here either.
I have a nail appt. after work, no idea what dinner will end up being. Kinda slow at work this week, but next week I'm on the road pretty much all day for 3 days straight. In a uncharacteristic bit of thinking ahead, I actually scheduled myself with my massage therapist for a session Friday afternoon, so I'm looking forward to that, and will need it after sitting in the car so much. I just realized next weekend is Mothers Day, which is usually the weekend I go and pickup a lot of my flower pot needs for the porch, along with a palm or two and some hanging baskets. I'm not sure if I will still do it that weekend as I've not yet power washed the porch off and I like to start out with a clean porch if that makes sense. Gotta get the porch furniture out of the barn as well. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

Take care everyone, have a good evening.

Dad just left for Ikea. I sure hope he finds some things.

Hug, B&B. I'm so glad you did have a nice birthday. I'm all for quiet celebrations. Oh no! I'm sorry some of your Ikea and Target furniture have been problematic. ITA that Ikea especially can be hit or miss! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Always nice to see a fellow Quacker's space a bit :) We have a similar but taller Room Essential with 4 cubes. We also have a few of these Room Essentials or Close Maid cabinets with doors These are handy because the doors keep dust more away plus inside are three shelves. I have both books and clothes in them. I do have two smaller bookcases from Walmart that I like. So good to have you back.

Please continue to take care of yourself, Snowysmom! I have been truly so thankful you feel comfortable with your therapist, that is absolutely a blessing. Awesome suggestion from B&B to ask about telehealth or some other type of virtual visits that would allow you to still "see" the therapist. I am old fashioned and have never talked or video chatted with anyone online. but that could be very handy for you.

Prayers for safe travels, Easyas. I'm glad you have a slower week right now to sort of make up for the one to come.

Sorry - cancel this - no longer available - sold out.
This is probably too late but if he decides to buy something but doesn't pick it up today, Ikea is having an online egift card sale. 20% off egift cards starting at $50 or above, up to $1000.

Egift only, no physical cards and it's only today, online, 4/27/2022.

Happy Thursday! :flower:

Anyone have any weekend plans? I have to work all weekend so nothing fun for me. It's supposed to rain on and off all weekend so it doesn't look like I'll be missing much. Our big marathon, the Flying Pig, is this weekend, I feel sorry for those people.

Was able to grab a short walk yesterday after work. I made some salmon that I got from Sam's and did not like it at all. I ended up giving the rest of my serving to the cat, made her happy. I still have another piece left that I was going to eat tonight but once again, the cat will be eating good.

Started off watching the Reds game last night but then switched over to Survivor. I have to admit, after 22 years of watching this show I'm actually getting tired of it. I'm just so over with people getting on their soapboxes. I realize the show was created as a social experiment but it's also a game, so they need to play the game. Okay, my rant is over, moving on.

Nothing else happening so far so I guess I'll get back to work. Have a great day. :daisy:

Good morning all. 32 degrees and my 3 birdbaths are all frozen solid with ice. Going to upper 50's so at least they will thaw out. When we got home from errands and grocery shopping (only low stocked shelves in Walmart was the dried pasta. Not a box of spaghetti to be found in any brand), I put everything away, and went out to use the string trimmer and get rid of everything around the trees, bushes, edges. That way it's all done so I can mow either today while it's cooler, or tomorrow when it's a little warmer

@footballmouse--I feel the same as you do about Survivor. I usually don't watch it till the next day, but decided to watch it live. I was sorry I did. I knew that was going to be brought up sooner or later on the show...but that last tribal council was brutal to watch. You are correct, get off the soap box already. Felt bad for the person who got eliminated, never saw that happen before in all 42 seasons that I can recall

Have a nice morning everyone

Hello everyone,

First off, thank you for all the prayers and well wishes! Thank you especially to Pea-n-Me for reaching out to me, it really meant so much.

I'm really not sure where to start. Life has been a challenge the last few years. My niece was diagnosed with breast cancer, My sister-in-law passed, I had cancer, my sister passed, had to take over the care of her two disabled adult children, I had a knee replacement, My DH had cancer with a very major surgery done, DH's cancer returned, all during Covid.

I was doing ok until we got the news that DH's cancer had returned and it is stage 4, no more can be done. He is undergoing Chemo, with the hope that gives him a bit more time. He is 66, and we had so many plans for our retirement years. I am so gutted, I don't want to be alone. Chemo is rough, and I don't know how long he can keep it up. It's so hard to watch him decline.

I'm sorry, for not posting. It feels too real when I write this down. I cry multiple times a day and just don't know how to go on.

Sorry

Hot tub only counts if you are planning on a good long soak after you clean it! The rest of it sounds like my upcoming weekend also. Time to pressure wash the house here,, porch was already done.
I like to wait until at least most of the pollen is done settling so heavily on the porch & window sills, but I'm growing impatient and I'll never get rid of all of the pollen so I'm just gonna go ahead and do it!
I'll be soaking in the tub for sure! We have to move it by a few feet, and it's time for it's usual empty & wipe down, luckily it warms up pretty quickly!

So sorry you have to go through all this just doesn't sound like enough of a response for all you've listed above. All I can say is we will all pray for a miracle.

I'll join others in offering hugs and wish I were near you to offer any little bit of support.
