Trying to plan a 6 night trip with my DW and 4 children ,2 are mine DS 28 and DD 26,and my wife's children DS26 and DS 23.We love OKW and was thinking a 1 bdrm and studio lock-off ,vs. SSR Tree house villa. Obviously DD would need privacy ,so with that being said . What would you do?
PS- We're fond of SSR as well.

:) Sorry but as a female I would share a room with my brother. I would think that the bunk beds at SSR-THV would be too small for adults. Have you talked to your DD and what did she say? I could see their being more of an issue at 18 or so but not into my mid 20s. Granted I would not share the bed but a room would be OK. A 2 bedroom at Kidani would have 3 bathrooms. I understand the issue of female and male sharing a room but if they are siblings I would not have an issue with it at any age really.

I hate to say this but I would put the 2 brothers in the Master, DD on the pull out in the lock off with parents in that queen bed. Extra DS out in the living room. I think the THV would get old trying to do transportation, unless you have your own car. It is close to DTD though, which is good for young adults.

At 44 I would just tell my brother age 42 to sleep on the pull out. He would have had a couple of beers at that point and would be fine with it. I would put on my CPAP to kinda block out the snoring and enjoy the trip. Getting old is awful.

My parents after 47 years of marriage still can't keep their hands off each other so they definitely will have their own studio at Jambo in Nov 2013. With a friendly reminder that there are video tapes on the savanna---sooooo, we all have different family issues. :thumbsup2

Let us know what you deicde.

Keep in mind that a 1 bedroom and 1 studio combined is identical to a 2 bedroom lock off. So you would want to rent a 2 br for less points than the 2 separate reservations.

The only problem is that you need 5 beds, and a 2 bedroom only has 4 (1 king, 2 full size, and 1 sleeper pull out)

You could try a treehouse as it has 2 full size, 1 king and 2 bunk beds, but ive heard the bunk beds aren't large enough for adults

Other options:
- grand villa at okw, very cheap on points compared to other grand villas
- consider 4 studios at the resort of your choice. Everyone gets a hotel room
- rent a 2 bedroom and add on 1 studio at the same resort

:) I really agree with the PP....any of those choices would be better.

Remember that the 2 bedroom lockoffs at OKW have 1 King bed, 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair.

I would put the parents in the king. The 2 brothers in the studio portion, the brother and sister in the living room, one in the sleeper sofa, the other in the chair. OR the 2 brothers in the living room, sharing the sofa sleeper and the brother and sister in the studio portion with 2 queen beds. Another option would be for all 3 boys to share the 2 queen beds, and the daughter in the living room on a sleeper sofa or sleeper chair.

They are all adults, tell them their options and let them decide.

Thank you all, what i'm hearing is ,is that the tree houses just aren't worth the points?

I think what you are hearing is, "the Treehouses won't be a good fit for your situation." The main problem I see is the bunkbeds. Unless your "kids" are very small people, they will not be comfortable sleeping on them. We are travelling with my sister and brother in law this summer, and plan on reserving a Treehouse. However, in our case we will have two children, ages 8 and 6.

I think the 2BR at OKW will suit you very well. Or even better, a Grand Villa if you can spare the points. The Grand Villas at OKW are incredibly luxurious and spacious, and by far the cheapest grand villas in the entire DVC inventory. Something to think about...

Good luck with your decision!

One more question.

If i go on-line and book a 2 bedroom villa at OKW and NOT a lock-off, is it automatically a dedicated 2 bedroom? Possibly one of my dumbest question ,but it better than not asked and therefore unknown.:duck:

The choices online are:

2 bedroom villa - which is a dedicated
2 bedroom villa lockoff

At OKW the bedding is the same. The difference is a lockoff will have outside entrance in the studio portion & a kitchenette, the dedicated will have an extra closet & bathroom sink. The extra bathroom sink is good for 2 people getting ready at the same time.

Thanks Deb,
A fellow PA'er,I hope you got a good laugh over that question. Now I know exactly how to book this trip. It's so exciting to think of a summer trip with all the "kids" together in Disney:cool1:

Definitely scratch the Treehouses. They are nice, but not for a large group of adults like you have. The bunk beds definitely will not sleep adults and the hall bathroom is quite small. The two bedroom option at OKW, or if you can swing it, a Grand Villa at OKW are probably your best options.

The THVs are worth the points in my opinion, but I think you should go with a dedicated 2br at OKW, Kidani or BLT, with your 4 children being full size adults. Unless they are comfortable sleeping on twin sized bunk beds in the 3rd BR. For our family of 4, our children are now adult size and my daughter always "calls" the pull out chair!

My adult DD and DS shared the bunk bed room at the Treehouses one trip and it was like the old days when I'd have to tell them to "Be quiet and go to sleep!" They'll have a blast. :goodvibes
