Quality of Drinking Water at WDW

Its Gross!! We buy Dasani bottled water every trip(since fla. doesn't have Deer Park!!)

It is spew, not water.

They sell more Dasani that way.

The water is so foul, you can't use tap water to brew coffee or tea for fear of ruining it.

The water is pretty foul. I always drink bottled & use bottled for my coffee, as well. I have a compromised immune-system & always wind up sick from the water down there. Now that I use only bottled water - no more tummy troubles.... I have a Brita bottle, but since it doesn't go down to less than 1 micron, I'm afraid it might not work for me.....Hate spending vacation time in the bathroom!

It's just a different blend of micro-organisms in FL than we have up here in NY. I'm sure if you live down there, you'd get used to it, taste & tummy-wise.....

DS refuses to even brush his teeth with the water, much less drink it.

We've found that the ice machines at the hotels have filtering systems which filter out the awful taste. So at night, we fill up the ice bucket, let it melt overnight, and then use that water for the next day. We add more ice to the water bottles and then it is tolerable. But we do spend a lot of money on water bottles, too.

We do buy bottles of water for each trip but that's becuase I don't like to spend a ton of money for drinking water! We do augment those with the bubblers/fountains in the parks. My dh and actually had this discussion last week while in MK. I asked him if he thought the water was 'foul' and he said 'no, not foul...just different than home'. We have no problem drinking the water in WDW.

I do NOT like the water in Orlando. I buy big jugs of water for the room and smaller bottles to bring into the parks with me, but I try to avoid the water. I'm ok drinking a glass of ice water, as long as it's very cold, but that's it. It doesn't give me an upset tummy, it's just the taste. If I lived down there I'd force myself to get used to it like I did when we lived in Houston. BTW, at home I only drink tap water (our fridge has in-the-door ice and water, which has a filter, but I'm fine with the tap) so I'm not a bottled water snob. :teeth:

the water at WDW tastes like sulfur. some people cannot take it. that being said, the sulfur is good for you!!! I do think that NY has the best tasting water and makes the best bagels. The water here in KY is "hard", full of minerals, but that's what makes the horses bones stronger here.

Get over it! It's just water! Don't pay for it twice by buying it in a bottle!

We are just back and my mother can't/doesn't like carbonated drinks so she drank A LOT of water. Whether it was at Pop Century or the parks, she drank it and didn't have one complaint. Of course depending where you are in the country, the water is going to taste different. When we go to Rhode Island, I always get an after taste from their water, just depends.

Drink the water, enjoy your vacation!

It's really a personal decision whether someone wants to drink the water or not. A gallon of water at the grocery store is very cheap. I'll have to say I never buy the bottles in the park since I just can't pay those inflated costs, but some people don't mind paying it. Just where I happen to draw the line.

I never had a problem either... go figure!! I guess coming from a girl who prefers tap water to bottled water that makes sense though! I heard someone's idea on another thread that you could fill up a water jug and just use koolaid packets to tone down the "bad" flavor. But, seriously, I didn't notice anything all that strange.

Just to clear up any confusion, as someone mentioned, there are filters in the ice machines in the resorts. I believe there are also some kind of filter system for all of the food places in the parks and resorts since I have never smelled or tasted any sulphur odor at these places and we drink alot of water and eat at alot of the restaurants/fast food places and resorts at disney.

The water fountains in the parks, I believe also may have filtration systems.

Now, the water in your resort room is a whole 'nother ballgame. The sulphur smell and taste can be overwhelming. I can't even stand to use the tap water to brush my teeth with or drink from in the bathroom. I filled the bathtub and used a pretty smelling Crabtree and Evelyn bubble bath and the sulphur in the water wiped out both the lovely smell and most of the bubbles. Filling the bathtub with that water was so overwhelming the smell of sulphur just hung in the air. This was on our last trip at the GF resort.

Since we like to drink alot of water both in the parks an in our room in the am and pm, we buy bottled water for our resort room use.

One trip and you learn! Always buy bottled water for drinking and making coffee!

I've found that it is also hard on my hair! If I could afford it, I'd buy bottled water just to wash my hair with! :p

Blondie: the soft water in Florida should be good for your hair since it has less minerals. I would guess that it is hard on your hair because it is more difficult to get the shampoo out of your hair with soft water.

We thought it was horrible in 2003 but this year it didn't seem so bad. We all drank it and had no problems. I even noticed that the fountains at EPCOT didn't smell of sulpher as they had the year before. If you do notice an off taste, one thing that helps a lot is to add a slice of lemon. Almost completely removes any sulpher taste or odor.

One could always take along one of those small charcoal filters found in camping stores to make your own filtered water and save on the cost of bottled (I think a lot of bottled water is simply filtered tap water anyway).

Believe it or not after a while you will get use to it. I still drink bottled water as much as possible.
