Only 20 days to go and getting excited. Have major worries about the hotel. We originally were going to stay at the Howard Johnson, Int. Drive but my friend is coming out on her own with her kids and had to book at the single parent option (Quality Inn) to save on costs. We transferred over to this hotel too, and we had to pay an upgrade of £90 for our room. Anyone have any experience of this hotel? I only hope it is clean and safe as we won't be staying in too much. Also, are towels routinely supplied in American hotels, last time we wnet we stayed with family so very unsure.

Thanks

I haven't stayed at the QI, but I haven't heard anything bad about it. Most American hotels I have every stayed at have been clean and comfortable, and they ALL have towels provided!

Its a good hotel we stayed there last year, its clean, you get towels supplied, also towels around the pool are available.
It's safe, you get a safe (extra charge) which is mounted on the wall (we had one) and it has a key etc we left money and passports in the safe and it was safe.

The rooms are good sized, clean, fridge,t.v,safe, coffee maker with coffee (supplied),etc its a nice friendly hotel i have to say!

Ive been trying to book into there for this year with virgin and its fully booked so its not bad at all!!

Have a good time,you will!
And the hotel is fine.

If you're doing a mix of parks, i.e. Disney, Universal, Seaworld etc, it's a good palce to stay. You're just 2 minutes from the I-4, which goes directly to Disney. On I-Drive you're ideally situated for restaurants, and you'll find loads of reviews elsewhere. If you have kids with you there's a big MacDonalds next door. It's nothing like those in the UK (although the staff are just as bad), and there's a good games/play room upstairs. The hotel is clean and well serviced by excellent cleaners (don't forget the dollar a day tip rule). We've stayed there twice and can't complain too much. The breakfasts are OK if you get there early enough. The food tended to run low later in the morning.

Let's put it this way. I've stayed in worse.

Another thumbs up from me - we stayed there last year and the amenities are great, it's clean and a great base to stay at for all the parks. Also there is a bus stop right outside to catch the linx buses from too as well as the I-Ride.
We're going independent this year by going into a villa with a car but I would definately book there again. You'll have a great time and the staff are friendly too!

We stayed at the Quality Inn International in 2001 and really enjoyed it. It has two lovely pools and they provide towels for you to use at the pool. The rooms were large and very clean. We didnt have to pay for our safe it was already in the room. We also had clean towels in the room every day:D

We stayed at this hotel in Dec 2000 on our 3rd trip there and have to say the hotel was just about OK. I had no specific cause for complaint and the room was clean, it was just a general feeling about the place that it was a low-cost establishment and not as 'fresh' as it could have been. Also some of the other guests were on the rowdy side, most of whom I am afraid to say were English.

Best thing about the hotel is its location, right in the middle of Int'l Drive, very handy. You must try the Golden Corral across the road, its fantastic value and much better quality than Sizzlers and Ponderosa.

Also the staff at the hotel were helpful, particularly the girl who checked us, when I enquired about a room upgrade in order to get a room with a microwave and fridge because we would need them to make our young sons nightly bottle up the receptionist quoted us a rate of something like $19 per night. I decided that this too much to pay and said we would have to do with out the upgrade, the receptionist then had a word with her manager and came back and said as we had young children we needed the fridge and microwave and she would upgrade us free of charge. She also upgrade my sister in laws room who didn't have any children with her. Fantastic service. I believe that anyone booking with Virgin now is automatically given a room with a fridge and microwave.

To sum up, the hotel did not spoil our holiday and it certainly won't spoil yours, but unlike some of the better class hotels, it probably won't add anything to your holiday either. IMHO.

Sorry, didn't like it at all. In fact we only stayed there one night.

Very average standard of accomodation.
Location not great either, if you like being right in the middle of the tourist area with tacky cheap discount stores on a busy main road then you will probably be alright.

I-Drive for us is not the place to stay unless you stay at the quieter end near the Clarion/Rosen Centre Hotels.

Apologies for being negative but it's all about different opinions.

Sorry can't agree with that. Both times we stayed there the rowdyoes were either American teenagers or tour reps trying to raise the sleeping travellers.

We stayed there about 5/6 years ago. It was OK. The rooms are pretty basic but clean, the breakfasts were OK nothing special But i did find it rowdy. In the room next to us were 3 English lads on a 2 centre with New York. They often entertained (I think thats enough detail) which was quite noisy. All my wife & I did was be as loud as we could at 7.00am as they had only been asleep 3 or 4 hours.

We must of been lucky then when we have been it wasnt rowdy, and sadly i dont mind tacky shops!,it to me was a good hotel, basic but good!
I've stayed in worse.
I'd stop there again!
But then again we all are different and have different tastes,to me,you only really use a hotel room to sleep in etc :)

P,s Have a fab time!! and i hope you like Q Inn :) Let us know when you are back!! what you personally thought ;)

We stayed at the Quality Inn International about a month ago.

I was a bit worried about it - BUT it was FAB!

the rooms are a good size, clean, house keeping comes every morning.

the breakfast buffett is yummy.

there is a gift shop and a mimi-mart that sells water and cakes - that is opened till about Middnight.

There is an information desk - where you can get loads of infomation about the parks.

Shuttle buses run regulary to universal and seaworld.

a shuttle to WDW costs $12 there and back.

there is a games room for the kiddies.

also the two pools are great.

yep - i couldn't praise this hotel more!

Thanks everyone for your replies - only 2 weeks till we go, getting excited. Will report back when I return.

We have stayed there 5 times, last time was last Aug really like it!
locaction is ideal, lots of places around to eat, 2 pools and we have never had any problems with rowdy guests, it might be an idea to e-mail the hotel and ask for a quite room, they tend to be on the inside of the hotel away fom the car parks, you can also ask for no- smoking if required.A must try place to eat is Chuck E cheeses the kids will love it! its like a giant mouse run suspended from the ceiling and the pizza is good too!its just a short walk over the road from hotel,if you don't want to drive or walk up Idrive the stop for the Idrive trolley bus is also just outside, have a great time Anita
