QSP Question

We're going November 29-December 8 and staying at CBR. My mom and brother will be going with us and will be having their own room.

Both of them are light eaters, so the QSP seems to be their better option. They are used to deciding what they want to eat that day and when they are hungry. Sometimes they even skip dinner if they have had a big lunch, or skip lunch if they had a big breakfast. So they don't like the fact that with the DDP they have to make ADR's so early. I have two questions with regards to this.

1. If free dining is offered for our dates and my mom and brother have the QSP, can they stick with that and not upgrade to the DDP. And if so, can we apply the free dining code to her package?

2. My family (DH, DS9 and myself) will be on the DDP. If we have reservations at a particular restaurant and my mom and brother decide that day that they want to come, can we add them to our reservation or is that too late at that point? They know they would need to pay OOP for them.

We would like to book with our TA this week, but we are having difficulty trying to figure out the DP situation for my mom and brother. She's having a hard time understanding how this works. I'll admit, we were very confused back in 2006 when we used it for the first time, too. Now we understand how it works.

In the past when FD was offered the mods had the DDP and you could not downgrade to the QS plan. However, I would go ahead and upgrade to the DDP if it's offered for free because the 2012 DDP pdf specifically states that you can use TS credits for QS meals. This would be great if they join you at your TS reservations because then they could use their TS credits and not have to pay OOP.

2. My family (DH, DS9 and myself) will be on the DDP. If we have reservations at a particular restaurant and my mom and brother decide that day that they want to come, can we add them to our reservation or is that too late at that point? They know they would need to pay OOP for them. I would recommend making the reservations for the maximum number of people who may be dining. It's much easier to show up with fewer than take the chance of not being able to add people. If they are restaurants with the credit card guarantee, the Dining FAQs on the Disney site say that as long as some of you show up for the res, you will not be charged for your Mother and Brother if they don't come.

I agree with purple. :goodvibes

If you are interested I review many CD locations in my QSDP, link below.

Thanks for the help. After I had posted this question, my mom called and told me that after reading over the print-out of both dining plans, she has decided to go with the DDP and not the QSP.

Phew! Now that the DP has been decided, we can now book our vacation this week :woohoo:!
