I did my QSFB in fall 2005. I worked in magic kingdom in stands east which are like concession stands in MK. There is a stands east and west. East consisted of stands in Toon town, Tomorrowland, and fantasyland.

I got there and was trained to work 4 of the locations within stand east. Toon town farmers market, Space Dog, Toon town weenie wagon, and cool ship. These were literally the only ones that were outdoors in my location. the rest were inside with windows and the line was outside. After training I mainly worked these four locations. Most of the time i was scheduled as a call-in. which meant that for anyone that called out of work, I covered their shift. or, if one location was busier than another, i'd work there. so essientially, even though i was trained in 4 locations, i worked anywhere. I worked mostly in toon town and tomorrowland at the beginning of my program. It was really easy. In the beginning I worked space dog a LOT. but then over the course of my program i began working other places, and got training in other areas of stands east.

I closed a lot. opened sometimes, and never had a want for hours. The only times i got the minimum amount of hours were like, one week in october, and one week in december(remember, i was fall program)

I hope this answers your questions. The job is relatively easy and I had a lot of fun. I wouldn't have changed my experience for anything. I met my best friend through it and I know that if i ever wanted to pick up extra hours, I could totally handle working in QSFB

I did QSFB last summer. I worked at Casey's Corner on Main Street. The menu at Casey's was hot dogs, fries, corndog nuggets, brownies, and drinks. I either worked in the back (preparing the food, putting everything together, cleaning) or worked in the front in the restaurant (stocking, working the register, filling which is preparing the order for the guest, cleaning, greater, and other positions). I usually had late hours (and closed a lot). But the good thing was that we usually could see the parade and fireworks (since it died down at that time). It could get quite busy at times at Casey's. but I loved the people I worked with.

thank you verry much wold my letter have said magic Kingdom if i was going there? I ask because i seen somewhere about a pay difference. For the past few ays ive een trying to figure out the odds of where im going to be put. I hope its MK my HS band is coming in June, and m aunt is coming in april. obviously my aunt will go where ever but the band cant just go where ever to eat where i work. Sorry about spelling errors the keys on my keyboard do not always work on the first hit.

You won't find out where you are working until Day 2 in FL.

thank you thats what i thought. also what are the chances of traditions being on day 2. I get there on 2/11 and i want to go to daytona on 2/12 for the gatoraide duels at Daytona international Speedway. i was wondering if that would be remotely possible. i would hate to miss it ive lived in FL my entire life and been to all the other daytona nascar races except the duels....
but if i do have to miss its disney so i could make an exception

I did QSFB during the Spring 2007 program, working at MK at Stands West (Stands West and East were supposed to combine to make room for the rumored new restaurant, but who knows if they actually have merged yet). They are pretty much the food places that don't involve tables and chairs (like Pecos), and do not include ice cream/popcorn/etc because that would be ODF (outdoor foods). Pros of QSFB are higher pay rate, you are guaranteed many many hours, and you get to eat the food during training. Cons are you deal with the most guests so you can get some nasty ones, and it's very easy to get injured (I received multiple hot oil burns, one girl had a box of stuff fall on her neck because someone else improperly stacked boxes on top of a freezer that she opened, and I also had a register fall on my foot in the fry cart because it was sitting on a table not large enough for the register).

That sounds like a lot of (preventable) accidents for one person! Are you accident-prone or was that typical for your area? (Just curious.)

No, unfortunately.

Ow!!

no as in to the duels or no to traditions being on the second day? Would traditions be the only thing stopping me from going?

sweet! dont get me wrong i cant wait to start i just really want to go to daytona that day. + orlando to daytona is closer than jacksonville to daytona!

All those injuries did not happen to me. The register incident happened because the counter was too small for the register and it was imbalanced improperly. The hot oil burns happened to everyone because the dough was unpredictable at times while making funnel cakes. A lot of people also got heat burns from the ovens. Or how they make you clean with degreaser at some of the stands, and on a CP prior to mine, a kid had to be rushed to the ER because he got third degree burns because he accidentally got degreaser on himself. The managers bribed us with prizes and pizza parties if we went a certain amount of days without injuries (boys vs girls). A lot of people would keep their injuries a secret so as not to hurt the group.

GEEZE(stands east alum here!) and I don't remember many injuries except burning myself on the pretzel pan on my elbow. pretty sure, that was December 2005, and I still have a mark! lol. i call it my disney battle wound :) and my friend worked in the turkey kitchen, and got burned a lot.

to the person who started this thread, don't let us freak you out. it's not that bad.

I did QSFB at Port Orleans Riverside - I LOVED IT!! I was on cash mostly, but there's 4 "shops" there that you rotate through. You'll usually end up working in a different shop every day. I'd say about 90% of the time I was on register though after I was cash trained. Yeah, it was stressful at times, but you make the most of it! I loved everyone I worked with, and at night it was mostly all CPs. I think there was maybe two or three FT CM's that worked at night - that's it. All I have to say though - LEARN THE DINING PLAN INSIDE AND OUT! It's amazing how poorly informed some people are about it...

Just wanted to echo that we're not trying to scare you OP. To be honest, Stands is just really labor intensive in my opinion. You cook the food, you load the carts, you run the register, you lift and change the heavy pop fountain boxes, etc. My roommate worked at Cosmic Ray's and she pretty much either ran the register all day or poured drinks. I mean, honestly the higher pay and the guaranteed hours was good enough for me.

ok for over time would i have to do over time where i worked all the time or could i go all over WDW property? also would i be able to change locations at oll other than overtime

You can pick up extra shifts outside your area. Extra shifts off the HUB can be fun (as long as they don't require special training).
