QSFB / Custodial

I didn't mind restrooms at all. In fact, I prefered restrooms to streets

I just got chosen for QSF&B. I'm really disappointed and upset. I had hyped up the idea of the BBB so much that now I'm not sure if I should wait and re-apply or just go ahead and go next semester :(

Nothing wrong with QSFB! Congrats on getting in I would love to be in your shoes!

Quick service also includes outdoor food carts (pop corn, ice cream, soda). Lot of people forget about that.

If you aren't open to it, decline and apply again next year. Also when you apply, don't indicate you are willing to do anything that you really aren't willing to do. Even if they ask during the interview, it is OK to say that you aren't open to it.

My S got QSFB too. He worked at our local Amphitheater (concerts: Warp Tour, Dave Matthews, Billy Joel, Kiss, etc). I thought he would be perfect for Attractions since he know how to handle crowds.

Still he is looking forward to passing winter in Orlando.

What are the chances of being assigned to an outdoor cart? I really like that idea, because I feel like it would have more guest interaction. Also, if you are assigned to carts, will you move around a lot. For instance, I know that QSFB get sent to other areas a lot. Would there be a chance of moving from a cart to a restaurant, or would you mostly stay at a cart?

Chances are good... although not great haha... they will either put you in qsfb restaurants or qsfb outdoor foods... outdoor foods is what it is foods outdoors carts and such... my last program i was outdoor foods at epcot... that is carts... the reason i say the chances arent great is because there arent a ton of us haha... i mean in all of epcot outdoor foods last semester there was like 15 to 20 cps... in the grand scheme of things thats not a lot... so if we say there are like 30 cps doing outdoor foods in each park and water park it will be about 180 200 cps doing outdoor foods in the parks... magic kingdom will have way more cps than just 30 but i doubt the water parks will have 30 each so im saying not anything more than at max 300 cps out of the 7000 that are accepted will be doing ODF

now these numbers are my own opinion based on absolutely nothing but the fact of knowing how many cps were doing ODF at epcot..

outdoor foods is awesome

the hours are long... and a lot of the time you are by yourself which i do not like....because i get bored... but there are also in epcot there are about 3 carts that have more than one person at a time and those are fun... most of the time you are at an icecream cart...

as for guest interaction with outdoor foods... its not as much as you would think... you WILL see tons of guests 400 to 500 transactions on a normal day 700 to 800 transactions on a busy day... but you see so many people that you have ZERO time to talk to them.... especially when you have a long line... people dont want to talk to you they want their food and they want to eat and leave haha... but it is fun dont get me wrong i loved it...

actually when i read that post again... it sounds rediculous to say the chances are good after what i told you lol its not that great of a chance... there are way more restaurant/resort spots than there are ODF carts

ONE MORE THING...

If you are ODF you will stay ODF (Outdoor Foods) unless they deploy you to another park... and if they are deploying you chances are its only for a week or so and then you are back to ODF... and most of the time they just deploy you to ODF at another park anyway

Well, it's kind of a bummer that the chances aren't very good, but then again, I'll be working at Disney, so I have a feeling it's everything is going to be great anyway. Thank you for all of that information.

Hey dont take my word for it... like i said i dont know how many cp ODF workers they actually hire lol i was just basing all my assumptions on how many there were in EPCOT so don't lose hope... PLUS if you really wanna do it you can always talk to a manager... you wont TECHNICALLY be changing your role... and they always want people who actually want to do ODF so you could give it a shot if you don't get it... and you can always pick up ODF shifts on the HUB if you are low on hours and have some fun!

Disney is awesome it doesnt matter what you are doing... dumping trash... selling ice cream... telling guests they actually DO have to wait until the time on their fastpass haha

no worries

What are the best parts of QSF&B?

I just got assigned this role and I am sorely disappointed. I am hoping to renew some of the excitement I had when I was hoping for BBB. Any advice?

You'll have plenty of chances for extra hours.

It's pretty much like every other role- it's what you make of it

Is it possible to have two roles?

I know I can make myself have fun. I just had very high hopes for another role and am upset by the inability to advance/ switch roles.

Unless you have a hopper role, you will only have one role during the CP

oh and as far as guest interaction...

Custodial has the highest guest interaction of them all in my opinion...because as custodial when you put on that white costume you are a walking ride times billboard/restoom directions/guest services/lost kid/lost parent/resturant advice/parade time sheet person...

As custodial doing the trash runs is the lowest priority on your list of jobs... to be honest highest priority is guest service...

guests ask you constant questions because as custodial we do so little that we are the easiest accessible of all the cast members.

but its all what you make it of course... you can be one of those custodial members that no one sees and hangs out in the break room all the time... but i dont recommend it.

Oh like i said before... even if you are doing your job and out in the park all the time... you will hardly see a manager haha its a very individual job...

i went a week once without seeing a manager haha no exaggeration
Thanks Derrick- Very helpful!! :)

Okay, I have stopped being such a crybaby and now I've decided to accept (provided my financial aid comes through!) -- I'm pretty excited!

What are the best places to work QS? I'd like a fun job but maybe not one that will be always packed. I heard MK gets scary and so do the huge places like Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.

What are your best suggestions? I heard we have a chance to pref, but it isn't guaranteed. Bonus points for cute costumes! :) I'm a girl, yanno. Haha

My daughter is at Beach Club Resort (deployed alot also to Port Orleans and Caribbean) and loves working there and all of her co-workers and managers. It never gets too crazy at all at the resort QSFB locations except maybe for All Stars and Pop.

I'm from New Orleans, so I'm interested in Port Orleans! Does she ever feel left out of the magic being at a resort?

No, not at all. In fact, not being in the parks on a daily basis definitely keeps the magic alive when she does have a chance to visit them. It never gets routine or old and she enjoys going to the parks in her down time/days off. Her main location is Beach club but she has been deployed to both PO and CB since the beginning of October. Not sure if she will get back to Beach Club any time soon.
