Hi Just wondering what an entree is on the qsdp? Would it be like a burger and fries? Pizza? What else? We have never did any DP and are looking at theFD that is being offered for Sept. We really aren't the sit down have to plan our meals before our trip type of people although we do like to do a character meal or two, so I don't really think the regular dining plan is for us although we really want to stay moderate. Has anyone that used the QSDP thought that they had enough to eat on the plan? Thanks

Hi there the QSDP is the following. Hope this helps.

Includes Per Person, Per Night:

This plan includes counter service (e.g. fast food) meals and snacks at most quick service dining locations in the Walt Disney World Resort.

Two quick service meals (entrée or combo meal, dessert at lunch and dinner and a non-alcoholic beverage)

Two snacks

One Resort refillable drink mug per person, per package

You can look at all the menus at Allearsnet.com for the specifics on menus.
There are tons of choices for entrees on the QSDP that are not burgers, fries or pizza.
Some great choices for the QSDP:
Columbia Harbour House @MK
Sunshine Seasons @ Epcot
Flame Tree BBQ @ AK
and our #1 spot for QS - Wolfgang Puck Express @ DTD - I had THE best Salmon dinner there last week. Better than any of the TS meals I had.

Just wanted to mention, if you stay at a Moderate for Free Dining, you will get the Regular Dining plan (which is 1 QS and 1TS). I am pretty sure you cannot downgrade to the QS plan.

We did QSDP for the first time last year and I can honestly tell you I didn't have a single burger in 11 days. Can't remember if my DD11 did. This was our first time using QSDP vs. regular DDP and I really enjoyed it. Not having to make any ADRs was great!

We do tend to eat at DTD and some of the resorts more than some do. We have a rental car so making a quick trip to DTD or another resort to eat is never an issue.

Here are just a few of the QSDP entrees we had over the past few years.

Enjoy!

for those that claim all they can find are burgers and flacid pizza.

WGPE pizza is far superior to what you get in most WDW locations. I count it separate.

After our experience on the regular dining plan last week, and what seemed like very limited quick service options.... I think that you have to be willing to go here, there and everywhere to get different stuff as previous poster showed. If you are looking to stay in park and in resort, you will be limited. We had 2 little ones and not a lot of time to move all around.... if we had gone to DTD and planned those meals more carefully we would have enjoyed more options... however, that didn't work in our touring plan. I think it depends on what type of trip you are planning, where you will be, etc. GOod luck!

Yes it does take a little planning, but you are not that limited. We did 5 days on the QSDP, only went to DTD once, and I still only had one hamburger in 5 days, and I wanted that hamburger that day. You do need to do your homework and check out the menus either here at the dining tab above or at allearsnet.com. It takes some time, but it is well worth it as there is a lot of great food to be had out there!

DISNEYDAZ - Thanks for sharing your pics of your QS meals! I'm very impressed...way more options than I ever thought! I would rather spend my time researching QS dining options than making a bunch of reservations. We like to go quite hard in the parks then when we get hungary stop for a break...we don't like to plan our day around making sure we get to our TS reservation.

Perhaps someone can answer this question that may help out the OP.

You said you preferred staying at a moderate, and the moderate has the regular DDP for free dining plan offer. I think you can use your TS at a QS. Can someone comfirm this, please? Since it's free, it's not like your losing any money.

However, you could opt to stay at one of the values, get the QSDP for free, and then use the extra money for something special while you're there.

I would be curious if anyone had been able to do this....I have talked to 4 different Disney agents and 2 have said you can and 2 have said you can't, so if anyone has actually did this can they let me know...was it easy to do, or was it a pain? However I had thought of that by staying at value we do have extra money do to some extra fun things such as the Pirates and Pals Firework Vogage!

We exchanged 2 TS credits for 2 QS meals last week. However we were able to do it at our resort food court. It was our understanding that most of the QS places in the Parks are not set up to convert them.

I agree that you need to plan in terms of knowing where your options are. But I disagree that you need to go here, there and everywhere to get them. In addition to various resorts and DTD, we found lots of non-burger options in every Park.
Flame Tree for BBQ - Pizzafari for Hot Italian sandwich and Antipasto Salad in AK.
Sunshine Seasons in Future World and of course several QS options in the countries of World Showcase in Epcot.
Columbia Harbour House has fried shrimp and fish, tuna or hummus sandwiches and BLT Salad - Cosmic Rays has roast chicken, ribs etc, the place across from Pirates (sorry the new name escapes me) - has a tacos, quesadillas and a great toppings bar - the place that used to be the Noodle Station has lobster rolls and a beef and blue salad - all in MK.
Starring Rolls has huge sandwiches and sushi @ DHS.
There are plenty of non-burger/pizza options located in every Park.

We have been traveling to the parks for nearly 40 years, have never ever once had a burger. Each park has a good variety of options, and if you look at the menus here and on Allears.net you will be able to see the menus in advance. We have gone with small kids many times, rarely go back to the resort, and usually eat at WPE in dtd only once a trip.

SUPER taco salad at Pecos Bills, and Tortuga Tavern at MK
Combo Chicken and Ribs at Cosmic Rays, MK
ANYTHING at Sunshine seasons in EPCOT, eat your way around WS in the countries
DHS- Hot Italian Sandwich @ Catalina Eddies, Gormet Sandwich and Cupcakes at Starring Rolls, Combo Chicken and Ribs @ Fairfax Fair
AK-Snack credit Eggrolls at Eggroll Cart, BBQ at FlameTree, Anything @Yak&Yets CS.

Nothing too far out of the way while you are in the parks~Have a great time!!

I didn't have to go looking for somewhere special to eat CS and I didn't eat a single hamburger while we were at WDW for 9 nights in April.

Here's a list of some things I had from CS:
shrimp lo mein @ Pop foodcourt
Mickey waffles @ Pop foodcourt- came with bacon/sausage & applesauce
philly cheesesteak @ Cosmic Rays- MK- came with fries
chicken tacos @ La Cantina in Mexico- Epcot- came with nachos
bacon wrapped meatloaf @ Wolf Gang Puck Express in DTD- came with mashed potatoes
Pizza @ Pop foodcourt
chili cheese dog @ Pop foodcourt- came with fries
cheese danish @ Main Street Bakery- MK
turkey sandwich @ Sunshine Season- Epcot- came with a side
sub sandwich @ Earl of Sandwich in DTD- paid OOP

Can you tell that we liked the Pop food court? I would 2nd the person today who stated you should stay at a Value if you prefer the QSDP. We loved Pop!

On the other hand, if you really would prefer the theming of a Mod resort & you wan the regular DDP, you should stay at the MOd. We had the regular dining plan. I had a hard time getting my DH on board with ADRs but we had a great time and he thanked me for all the plans while we were there!

People state that they don't want to rush to make ADRs but I think our trip was enhanced because we didn't have to make decisions or find somewhere to eat for the meals we had planned.

Whatever you decide, have a great trip!!!!

I would agree with the above, and would go further to say not only do the values make sense with the QSDP, but the POP is the best overall QS at the resorts due to the variety. Other resorts have some very good individual items, but not as much variety.

Of course, were going to the POP in August with free QSDP, so I may be biased. I thought hard about the CSR, but we can get two rooms at the POP for less than one at the CSR even considering the cost difference with the upgrade to basic DDP dining.

We talked with the family, and they would rather have QSDP anyway as they do not want to be tied to the ressie, and they wanted the extra snack instead.

I think the overall quality and choices in counter service have come a long ways in the last 15 years, and I have not seen the same progress in the TS restaurants, in fact much the opposite at many locations. I'm not saying all the TS is bad, just that the prices have gone up significantly while I don't think the quality and choices have kept up.

Many more healthy and interesting options in CS meals now than there used to be if you know where to look.

(edit) The thing that one needs to understand is that CS meals do take some planning and awareness just like TS meals do. We take a report binder with the menus from all of the cs choices we like with us that we keep in the room at our resort. Each time we leave the room, we check out the choices in the park (or DTD or resort, etc.) that we are visiting. This allows us to make informed decisions when we're hungry, rather than ending up with a burger because it's close. I just printed out the menus for our upcoming trip in August, and my family is already excited about the menus and snack choices.

I would also add that the 9 and under choices are somewhat limited. Back when we had small ones, we often shared our adult meals, as they are typically too much food for us anyway.

We used QSDP last year and loved it. Check out my review in my signature. We loved it and will do it again this year.

We did the QSDP last year and love it. I ate one burger in 10 days and that was at peco's in the MK beacuse I wanted to. We stay at pop and there food court is really good with lots of variety.

Also we used 3 CS credits last year at pop to feed 4 of us. We got a large pizza, loaded nachos and I believe it came with 3 drinks and 3 deserts. Beacuse the nachos were considered a meal and there was alot there.

We are doing the QSDP again this year along with payin OP for 2 TS meals.

We did the table service the 1st time we used the DDP and honestly, we hated it. It could be because we weren't really well-versed on how the whole plan worked, but I think it was also because we really didn't want to do all those sit down meals.

We've since tried the QSDP and LOVE it! Our trip last August was a split stay between 2 resorts so we didn't have the plan on our last full day at the parks and really missed it.

The food choices are amazing. There are so many different things and you really aren't limited to burgers and pizza. I know that a lot of people comment on the fact that the kids menu choices are limiting - chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. My youngest (dd-5 at the time) did get a little sick of chick nuggets, but she survived and was able to split a lot of our meals because you get so much food.

Hope that helps!

The OP also asked if QSDP was enough food. Oh my gosh. It was too much food! You will not starve or even be the least bit "unfull". You get a large drink (fountain or bottle of water) and that really could be split by two and the entrees and sides included in combo meals are enough to feed two adults as well. And then you also get dessert. It's a lot of food.
