Family of 5 (2 adults & 3 kids who are Disney adults) will be going this summer with the QSDP. We would like to book 2 TS meals during the 10 days we are there. The buffets are pretty expensive (like Chef Mickeys!!!) so I am looking for opinions on which 2 TS would you think would be a good choice? Thanks!:surfweb:

You may want to call and upgrade to the regular plan if you already plan to pay for 2 OOP. I had the QS booked and when I priced what the one sit down meal would cost (fam of 6 but baby is 2 so we pay for 5) it was going to cost me more to pay OOP then it was to upgrade ($87 to upgrade, over $100 for the one meal).

But keep in mind you also have to pay tips on all those meals and you only get 1 snack a day and no refillable cups...

no suggestions on meals :( sorry but we havent been yet(well I went 20 years ago so don't think that counts )...

I thought of that but ran the numbers & it didn't look good. It would cost ($10 pp per 10 days) $500 to upgrade plus the tips. 2 meals would probably run $200 or so? To be honest we don't a TS every day as we will have base tickets (no hoppers) & I don't want to plan out park days based around meals. Was looking forward to the "freedom" of the QS. Thank you!

What about a breakfast at Kona? 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi for Lunch? Tony's or Liberty Tavern for lunch? Via Napoli (and split pizzas) for lunch? Those shouldn't be too bad. If paying OOP I would stick with a breakfast or a lunch for the price. Also, depending how close your kids are to the kid's menu age, if you ask, they may allow them to order from the kid's menu.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

I like the character meals. We usually do the breakfasts. Cape May has a good one, and we really liked Chef Mickeys. This year we're trying donalds safari. We haven't felt the need to waste park time by standing in lines to see characters all day.

We thought about doing the QS plan and paying oop for 2 character breakfasts, but when I priced them, it was cheaper to do the regular plan. I like sit down meals though.

The first time we did the DDP, the TS meals really sucked a lot of time out of the parks, so we're doing it a little differently. TS meal on arrival night and 2 character breakfasts will use up 3 of them without using up any park time. We're only gong for 5 nights though. Your 10 days would be a lot of TS meals to figure out.

Epcot - Le Cellier was amazing, and DH loved Tutto Italia. We're trying out Teppan Edo in Japan this year - (Japanese steakhouse)

My favorite buffet is the Cape May Cafe clambake. It's really our only "must do"

We are on the QSDP also. We choose it this way. We are there for 10 days also. We are doing t-rex dinner and Tusker House for breakfest and the characters. Those 2 meals will cost us under 200.00.

We're doing the QSDP on our next trip and have 2 ADR's booked to pay OOP. They are Le Cellier lunch and Kona dinner.

Tusker breakfast looks like one good option. Characters & something for everyone to eat.

Thanks for the suggestions.

What type of experience are you looking for? What is your budget?

If a regular sit down, I think Sanaa is a great OOP value and delicious food to boot.

Sci Fi lunch is fun (the food isn't amazing, but people go for the atmosphere) and not too expensive. We've paid for that OOP in the past.

Rose and Crown is affordable at Epcot and the food is good. When we went in 2009, there was a prix fixe. Les Chefs de France has a prix fixe lunch that a lot of people like (never done it). We loved La Hacienda de San Angel. It's a bit pricier than some of my other suggestions, but portions are huge. You won't need an appetizer or dessert.

Fun, not fancy. Probably $100-$120 per meal. I think we have narrowed it down to Tusker breakfast & 50's Prime Time. I love Tutto Italia but we are keeping it to 2 meals so we will have to have a family vote, thanks everyone.

Just wanted to say we loved the QSDP over Christmas break vacation!! It allowed us so much freedom in our day. Our kids loved it that way too. They do not like sit down dinners every day.

We just did one oop meal at HDDR for Christmas dinner. It was great and super fun for Christmas day.

We are planing on doing QSDP for our next vacation too and plan to do one or two oop for TS.

We are a party of 6 this year, going for 8 days with the QSDP and paying for 2 TS OOP. We go every 2 years, taking a few of our grandkids each time we go. We have always done the DDP in the past and have eaten at just about every TS and character meal they have at Disney but the DDP is just way to time consuming so we are going to try the QSDP this time. I talked with each of my kids and my grandkids (that have gone already) and ask what their favorite places have been to eat. There was only 2 places that were unanimous with every single one of them.

1) Sci-Fi---they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE eating in the car and they LOVE the burgers and onion rings. So we are doing that one as a late lunch/early dinner around 4.

2) Donalds Safari breakfast at Tusker House. They all agreed that the food and character interaction was the best! And we are hoping to score an 8am ressie to get us into the park at rope drop.

Have fun! I can't wait to go in December!!:yay:

I would say these: Sci-Fi, 50's PTC, Tusker House breakfast, Tony's Town Square or Liberty Tree Tavern.
