I just returned from a quick stay at WDW in which we used the Quick Service Dining Plan. I ran the numbers based on the menu prices listed on allearsnet.com and found that if I would have paid out of pocket for everything we ate it would have cost $396.44 (pre-tax). The cost for my party of 2 AD and 1 Child was $275.88 for 4 nites. It was me and my two children ages DD 12
& DS 6
. I think the QSDP was a good way to pre-pay for meals but we probably would not have eaten that much food had I elected to pay as we ate. I was never forced to use a kid's credit for a meal which allowed us to spread the meals out a bit. We always had plenty to eat and drink. On the last day of our trip we still had 3 counter service meals and 6 snacks left, but since we didn't leave Orlando until 4 pm we still were able to use those and bring some tasty treats home. The refillable mugs was just a bonus souvenir for us because we don't drink alot of sodas anyway and besides we always had plenty of bottled water and juices from our breakfast meals (2 drinks w/breakfast QSDP). We did use the mugs once or twice while at the pool.
I didn't bring my camera this trip so I don't have any photos but here are some of the places we ate:
Yak n Yeti-OK my local Panda express is better
Pizzafari-just ok but Apple dessert was very tasty
Earl of Sandwich-Very good, didn't like the earl lemonade drink
Artist Palette, Breakfast - Mickey Waffles-mmm good
Artist Palatte, Dinner - Chicken Panini -very good; Smith Stack DD didn't like
Wolfgang Puck Express, Dinner - Rosemary Chicken w/mash potatoes and a side of mac n cheese (paid for) VERY GOOD-enough for all 3 of us-GOOD VALUE for QSDP
Pepper Market, Dinner - Chicken Quesadilla -Very Good, Chicken Fajitas Very good-GOOD VALUE for QSDP
Toy Story Pizza Planet - just ok nothing special
Captain Cooks at Polynesian Resort-Barbeque Pork Sandwich really tasty but bread was toasted to hard for my taste. DD like the burger and DS got Chicken nuggets. Best part of meal was the dessert - pinapple dole whip
Overall, I think if you are on the fence about doing the QSDP give it a try you will definately get your money out of it, but for me I think I rather just pay as I go unless I was really trying to pre-pay as much as I could before my trip. Looking back it was just way too much food, I think we would have been fine with having a filling breakfast, snacks for lunch and lite dinners. It was just too hot to be eating alot of food.
One more thing, I never really tried to find the best deals in terms of value for the plan we just ate what we wanted. It was less stressful that way. My DD felt very liberated in knowing she could go order any snack she wanted and it felt good telling them yes to any snack they wanted. Most of the time me and my DS shared snacks. The best ones we tried were the frozen strawberry lemonade cups and orange pineapple smoothies.
Feel free to ask any questions.
