We are going to the World at the end of Nov. We got the DDP and have our ADR's. What I'm looking for now is a way to make the most of our QS meals and Snacks. We only have one breakfast ADR and we'll eat the other breakfasts in our room.

We'd like to get something better than the basics that we got at Cosmic Ray's last year.

So where are the best QS lunch and dinners in all 4 parks. I know it's based on opinion, but I'm willing to take suggestions.

For snacks, we'll definately get a Mickey bar and I'll probably do a Dole Whip. Last year we ended up buying a bunch of things in the confectionary in MK right before we left. Are there any snacks that can almost double as a meal? It'll be DH, myself and our nearly 4 yr old (by that time anyway).

Thanks!
Susan

There's a sticky at the top of Dining Plan forum that lists snacks you can get on the DDP. You might want to take a look there.

MK = Columbia Harbour House. Lots of good choices there. I like the salmon, cous cous, and brocoli plate. Eat up stairs where it's quiet.

Also, if hungry and you like salad veggies, eat at Pecos Bills and get a taco salad. You can ask to substitute chicken for beef. They give you just the meat in a shell and you fill it up at the veggie station.

Snacks....corn dog nuggets from Caseys, Cream Cheese pretzels in tomorrowland, Dole Whip. I've also been thinking about trying out that Nutella, fruit, waffle sandwich. I think it's from the pinnochio place. Anything from Main Street Bakery. The ice cream sandwich cookies are great.

Epcot = Shawarma Platters from Morrocco (probably spelled Shawarma wrong, LOL).

Also, Sunshine Seasons has lots of selections including healthy options and refillable sodas

Snacks...I tend to snack my way around Epcot. Eggrolls, fish n chips, anything from the French bakery.

Animal Kingdom = Only QS I like is Flame Tree BB and even then I rarely get it since you have to eat outside.

I mostly snack here. Egg rolls, Cream Cheese Jalepeno Pretzels.....one of my favorite cupcakes, the Cotton Top Tamrin. You should totally try it!

HS = Bleh, all QS sucks. We splurge extra and do Sci Fi Cafe. Otherwise I snack only.

Snack = Starring Rolls has Choc Peanut Butter or Cheesecake/red velvet cupcakes. These are my other top 2 fav cupcakes. They also serve nice sandwiches. Also, try a carrot cake/cream cheese cookie from Writers Stop. I don't even like carrot cake and it's SO good.

ETA: I have no ideas which of these work on DDP

That's how I figure out where the good stuff is

Yes, please do check out my 2012 Snacks thread. You can get so much more than ice cream, popcorn, and drinks. :)

Favorite QSDP

MK
CHH- We had 2 fried shrimps and 1 salmon last year and it was too much for the 3 of us. DGM, DM, and DD12.
Pecos Bills-ditto the taco salad (though I didn't know about the chicken option) You can add alot of toppings to it and it's very filling. We also got an order of onion rings for a SC.

AK
Pizzafari or Flametree.

EPCOT
Sunshine Seasons-I really enjoy the rare ahi tuna salad.
Kringla-big sandwiches, great desserts-a hidden QSDP jewel.
Cantina San Angel. Pretty good food, a lot of it, and a great location to eat (a few years ago we watched a turtle in the water below us for about 20 mins).

DHS
Starring Rolls-sandwiches and great desserts.

You didn't ask but DTD has 3 good CS choices, WPE, EoS, and Cookes of Dublin.

for snacks click on the link in my siggy.

Best deal for a QS credit is Wolfgang Puck's in DTD. You have real plates & napkins & there are servers who will bring your food & grab your refills. The bacon wrapped meatloaf was good & our kids liked their spaghetti.

Sunshine Seasons was good in Epcot. I had some blueberry cheesecake I really enjoyed. DH & I split a big turkey sandwich.

MK's Main Street Bakery had a huge piece of chocolate cake that I, DD10, & DS5 all shared & was a snack credit. DH grabbed a breakfast croissant OOP there one day that was good, too. A cinnamon roll from there would be a great breakfast for me & it was a snack credit.

We snacked around the World showcase. We shared the chicken tacos meal in Mexico and used snack credits for other items like desserts from the bakery in France.

You may be pleasantly surprised by AoA's food court. Before our trip last year, my friend said she liked the ASM food court just fine & not to worry about finding somewhere to eat. I was leery but we alll liked the food at Pop. I loved the $5 Mickey waffle kids meals we got at Pop's food court. We decided to eat them rather than the cereal we'd brought with us. They were just a cheerful, special (& cheap) way to start the day.

What is CHH?

AK: Flame Tree BBQ is certainly my top pick. The seating is outdoors but a lot of it is covered, in lots of little pavillions. If you keep going all the way to the back you can sit looking across the water straight at Expedition Everest.

HS: favorite lunch QS is Starring Rolls. You get a huge sandwich, plus drink, plus your choice of chips or fresh fruit, plus your choice from a wide assortment of desserts including those wonderful monster cupcakes. The location closes by 4 pm and the sandwiches may be gone by 1 pm, though, so eat early. For dinner QS if the weather is good, there are multiple QS locations grouped on your left as you head towards ToT; taken together they function as an outdoor food court. No great cuisine but at least you have some more options. Otherwise, if you can park hop go on over to Epcot.

Epcot: nearly everything is good here; only QS place I'd avoid would be Electric Umbrella. I think Norway is one of the best values: you get soup or a salad, plus a sandwich (LOVE the toasted ham + cheese + apples) plus your beverage plus your choice of desserts from the pastry counter. Another favorite of mine is the Patisserie in France. Quiche, flatbreds, filled croissants, or sandwiches on impossibly long crusty french bread loaves.

MK: CHH - the salmon and the fish and chips options are more substantial than your basic burger. But my favorite MK QS option is to jump on the monorail and eat at one of the monorail resorts. Especially at dinnertime - park QS mostly have the same menu all day (although I note Cosmic Ray now only has the rib combo at dinner) but all the resorts expand their offerings starting around 5 pm. Go to Contempo Cafe: your little one will love eating with the monorail whishing by overhead. Or to Capt Cooks at the Poly, where one of your dessert choices is a self-serve cup of Dole Whip (pineapple, vanilla, or swirl - how high can you go?) :thumbsup2
